Cooley has been ranked as the second best player to enter the FCS ranks, nationwide. This recruiting class has 3 or 4 guys who would be playing in the PAC12 if not for the special circumstances that brought them to WSU. Will they turn out to be stars for us? You don't really know until the footballs begin to fly in the fall. On paper, it certainly appears to be an excellent class. A lot is riding on hard work and development, as usual. Almost always, it seems, there will be a totally unheralded kid step up to be a star. You can count on that happening. :coffee:

Honest answer we can’t college is a different level so kids play against minimal talent but let’s put in WSU coaching staff

Wow! With this signing there are now 7 QBs :yikes: on the roster. And that doesn't include recently signed Bronson Barron who's expected to go directly on a mission.

Ricedorff - Sr
Shaw - Jr
Constantine - Jr (JC Transfer)
Miles - So
Jenks - RFr
Hymas - Fr (RM)
Weisser - Fr

I think Constantine will be a RS Soph
2015 3 star recruit from Camarillo High School
2016 Redshirted at Boise
2017 played one year at Ventura

Also missing preferred walk on Teryn Berry

I think it will be a two way battle between Ricedorff and Jenks in the Spring. I would be surprised if Shaw ever sees another snap. Maybe Miles and Constantine have an outside shot at one of the top two spots this Fall. Weisser will redshirt. Berry will probably redshirt or maybe greyshirt. Barron on a Mission. No idea what happens with Hymas.

I feel that the competition will be wide open. There may be a front runner after spring ball, but the competition will open again in summer camp. The great thing is that there is a lot to choose from. Like I've said before, we won't miss a beat at QB, or on offense for that matter. Looks to me like we have brought in some good defensive talent as well. I have fairly high expectations for the coming year. :coffee:

I think we all have high expectations. Based on results, we get better every year. Just keep the pipeline full of talent and keep getting better.
Back when I was photographing games, I had a short convo with coach Mac. We both had the same dream....20k attendance at a Wildcat game. It would be awesome just to average 15k for a season. I feel we can make it happen as long as we keep getting better. Beating the Utes to open up the new season would help a lot.
Yes, I know....BIG dream, but as long as you dream, you might as well dream BIG.

Wow, is it possible to be too optimistic? Weber loses an OC, a highly underrated QB, an all-American TE, and two very talented WRs. I don't doubt the magic Hill can create but realize it will take some to not miss a beat. I'm hopeful for the draft class and those waiting in the wings but the future success of the offense is far from automatic.

I understand your cautious outlook. I base my opinion on what we already had in the program. I think that we return an intact OL, a stable of good RBs, Some WRs who showed a lot of potential, A transfer/drop down QB and some talented QB underclassmen. Add to that, we added some high level recruits at all of those positions. I would actually go as far as saying the O will be better next year. I have more questions on the defensive side of the ball. It will be interesting to see how far off I am next fall. :coffee:

The offense wasn't explosive last season but was very efficient. And I'm very optimistic about the offense next season. The line played great last season, returns everyone, is deep, and has one of the best OL coaches in the country. For the first time in Hill's tenure, I feel like we have some high quality QBs, and we now have great depth there. Hill said WR was the top priority in recruiting and four were signed. Of those four, two appear to be mission bound, which tells me that Hill and staff feel like the other two can contribute right away. We should be fine at TE with those that return and Whitmer. We already had a lot of depth at RB and added maybe the best HS RB from AZ. Also, the new OC will be here for spring and fall, giving him plenty of time to install his offense. We could actually see an upgrade in play calling. I honestly think we could be in store for another historic season. :thumb:

I am cautiously optimistic. As long as we find our QB early, I believe we will be as good or better on offense. Play calling is bound to be better, we were somewhat predictable last year. We did just enough on offense to win, but it was a fight.

On defense I am concerned a little. LB is solid, but we lost most of a very good DL and a couple great DBs. I think we have the depth to be a good defense, just not sure we can be as great on defense as last year.

Presuming a better offense and a slightly worse defense, I think we will be in the mix for a playoff spot. If the D is as good as last year, we should be a very solid team.
