A little NAU revenge - 2/26/2011

The tournament would be held in a relatively new arena in Loveland. Its called the Budweiser Event Center, which can seat about 5,000. It is about 15 mins west of Greeley and it's right off the I-25.

They have never had a basketball event there before, right? Is it for sure the dedicated site for NoCo?

They tried to get a new arena through taxes but the state ruled that the Budweiser event center in Loveland was much too close and too new for the state to allocate funds to a new arena. So they would have to independently acquire the funds.

When I was at school our AD was still deciding where we might hold the tournament if we were to hosts. Apparently someone said the that we have already have made the decision on Bud center. I don't know for sure though.

thanks,

I hope you guys lose in Pokey.......

It is by far the strangest setup I've ever watched a college basketball game

Yea, i have seen arenas like NAU and with a small crowd, the fans and noise gets lost in that big arena so actually our little ButlerHancock when filled is quite awesome to be in.!!

It's really hard imagining a rockin crowd of

2,755

It's a crowd of 2,755 in a building with a capacity listed at 2,734, so it's full, with a low ceiling that traps all the noise in. 2,700 at Butler-Hancock is much louder than 6,000 at Weber's place just because of physics.

I thought they had decided to have it at the BEC, but now I'm hearing rumblings of having it at Butler-Hancock, which is obviously preferrable.

If there is any chance that UNC has a say in it then it MUST be held at Butler. If it's at the BEC then our home court advantage is lost.

God help me but I just tweeted Troy to see what he knows about the location of the tournament.

I could be wrong but I don't think the Bud center will sell out just because it is at the Bud center. Weber & Montana would get around 5000 because they would always get that. I believe we woud get around 3000 regardless and should just have it at Butler and keep that home court advantage or I believe our crowd will get lost at the Bud center . Am I wrong??

I agree I would want it at Butler. I think we have a much bigger advantage at BHP. It's smaller then the Bud but def is a little more intimidating.

If it is held at the Bud I think you would get more alumni from Denver, Fort, Collins ect. If it was the championship game I think the crowd could be pretty good, possibly close to a sellout. I mean we only have 12k students. These other schools each have a lot more students.

I would really like to think the Bud Center would fill up and hopefully a lot of alum would support it. And just maybe even more locals and students will come just because its at the Bud Center!! I am beginning to see that scenario !!

Having the tourney at the Budweiser event center would be pretty cool in my opinion. I was just there not too long ago for an eagles game, and those games usually sell out and it was pretty loud. But I thought I saw in article on the tribe a little while back saying that Butler had be approved to host the tourney.

I think it's going to be Butler is we take care of business Monday and Wednesday.

If that's the case it would be a huge mental advantage, considering we haven't lost there the entire year!

We're 29-2 in our last 31 games at Butler...would love to play there.

Troy tweeted:

"All plans are for Butler. In fact, both Scott & I have been in conversations about setup items for all the radio/TV involved."

Nice! I agree it would be ideal to have it at Butler. That was one of the best game atmosphere's I've been to for a long time last night. Weber fans and Montana fans can make fun of Butler's size, but we pack it full and it gets loud. It's a great home court advantage. They can bring in more seats too. Just like we did for CSU a couple years ago.

Add to the fact that ESPN2 is showing the Championship game, how cool would it be to see UNC play in a title game at Butler on ESPN2?

Be cooler to be at Butler but since I live in Maryland, ESPN2 would be awesome.
