You are right, we should give our players more praise instead of worrying about what we have no control over. I still think of Ketner's comment about all of the players have each others backs. I also hear players talk about "their brothers", the culture at Eastern is awesome!

Hard not to be concerned by that. Following that logic could mean coach Best is in the running for EWU HC, which I personally would be a big fan of.

But- lots of leaps to be made with relatively little concrete info.

Tui was a candidate and a "MYSTERY" candidate as well.
 
I think this already a done deal. All the recent follows by Valeria kind of spells thing out.

Do you think that they'll announce anything prior to the conclusion of the playoffs?

My only concern with Coach Best is that he's only been in one place his entire career. There's obviously some benefits to that, but I think there's some considerable drawbacks as well. As HC I think you need a wider breadth of experience.

Not that I think it means anything, but it wasn't cancelled. There wasn't one scheduled for tonight.

they go into a dead period next week, so my guess is if there is an announcement it would be before next monday.
 
Geez, you'd think that Valeria would be a little more discreet, but I guess we all knew this day would come at some point so it should not be a surprise to anyone. I guess I selfishly hoped that Coach B would stick around for several more years. I'm willing to bet that they will go with someone internal to the program, so who would the frontrunners be? Best? Taylor? Graham? Would Taylor even be interested in the HC position?

this, plus from what I've read Nevada wants to announce by Friday. I guess we'll know for sure then.

I would think we will know. Nevada wants to make the announcement by Friday. When Bohl left NDSU, his departure to Wyoming came out towards the beginning of the playoffs. There was a lot of concern about the level of distraction and disappointment that would create in the team. But obviously, it didn't stop them from their ultimate goal, and they played quite well leading to the championship.

I think the players understand how college football, and professional athletics works. The coaching carousel cliche is typically true for college football. The successful coaches move up from FCS to G5 to P5 to elite P5 to NFL if they have extraordinary success. Sometimes they skip some of the rungs of that ladder as well. I think if Baldwin decides Nevada is the right place for him to continue his career, I am certain he can share that message with the team in a way that they will continue to play hard and focused for him.
 
Does Baldwin have any experience building up a program? Seems like at Central and EWU he started with pretty good teams and enhanced them. I wonder how he will do.
 
Nevada is the better program in the state of Nevada they have gone to a bowl game like 8 out of the last ten years and return alot so Baldwin is not taking a horrible job
 
Baldwin will do fine wherever he goes. Everybody loves CBB, but he has to get out while the getting's good. Eastern also needs to find the next great coach while the program is at its most attractive point. When D1 college football adds a third level between the power 5 and FCS, I want Eastern to be primed to make that move.
