August 23rd vs Sam Houston State on ESPN

How great is that?!?

I just was at Sacred Heart visiting a friends newborn, didn't go far enough down I-90 to see it!

tomq04,
Congrats on the New Born. We had our 5th "Great Grand Child" April 29th, and she is growing so fast, and as cute as can be. She took after her Late Grand Mom". The ESPN Flag on Deaconess Hospital, is actually on the side of the Parking Garage, closest to the older portion of the building. They are trying to get one on the Clock Tower in Riverfront Park, haven't seen it as yet, checked yesterday, just awaiting for permission should they get the ok. Again "Congratulations". Vic Wallace

tomq04,
Sorry I was giving you credit for the New Born, re-read your entry, and saw where I read your entry incorrectly, so, give our Congratulations to your friend wife and her family. Vic Wallace

Thanks Vic!

I'll take it anyway, we did have ourselves a newborn 4 weeks ago yesterday! Healthy and awesome, and rabid eagle fan.

Unfortunately I don't know if wifey will let him out to a game this year. I told her to relax, but then she usually hits me. :notworthy:

tomq04,
Ok, again Congratulations to you and your friends family. Went out this morning watched the team practice. I will let Jim Allen, Spokesman Review, talk about the Athletes, he does an outstanding job. In my years here watching our team, I have never seen a bunch of young men looked so into shape. Two of the players came in half way ready for practice, a little out of shape, the sprints were their downfall will not mention any names, I will say they both played last year. I am sure they will be ready by Aug 23rd. Our Recruits came in great shape, and ready to play. They were tackling as if they were in pads. After practice 11:00am, they did the wind sprints, they came ready for their practice. I know this is just the 1st practice, I will say we have gotten some "Outstanding Recruits", we will really enjoyed watching them play. I spoke to quite a few of the Players, didn't get a chance to talk to all, will talk to all by the end of the 1st week. Hope this get all of you ready for Football, it is going to be another great year. Here is hoping they all remains. Normally we lose some players along training, hope this is not so this year. Go Eags!!!!! Vic Wallace

Vic,

Heard from my reliable source that it's been hot during practice. He is excited to get pads on. Said that coverage without them just isn't the same. Doesn't give him anything to hold on to without them....ha. Sorry you won't be coming to the game in Seattle. I had a couple of spots at our tailgate ready for you two. I will be heading over for a couple days of R&R the end of next week up at Lake Sacheen and plan on dropping by on that Saturday to see the boys for the first time this year. I know they are ready to go. He has been chomping at the bit to do more than 7 on 7. Hope to see you next week.

loloman,
I was very hot, got home about 12:45pm, and I crashed until about 5 pm, of course I was up about 4:45 am, and didn't go back to sleep. Todd did come and visited with us, I noticed he is now wearing #4, one of the Recruits is wearing #38 now, and he looks good. Will be looking forward to seeing you over the weekend. Team will go into Pads I think will be Aug 3rd. I am glad they are on the Grass Field, keep the heat down a little bit, supposed to be in the 90's all thru next week. Lo, you are really going to be impressed with those Recruits, and team. Take care. Vic Wallace

Looking forward to it. Need a fix! 3 weeks is just too long to wait.

Isn't it about time for some look-a-likes? I've been breathlessly waiting to see which players SE compares to DeAngelo Barksdale and Omar Little this season...

So i thought practices starting on Monday would ease the anticipation....it only made it worse.

how is your team looking so far?

I'm going to go see first full pad practice in the am. From what we are hearing, no QB has separated themselves and the DL looks to be deepest and most physical unit on team. Nothing news worthy.

I'll say this, the best QB on the field at fall camp last year (on the final scrimmage) was John Roderique...and that included Brian Bell. He appeared to have the best arm and passing skills. Seems like he got lost early in new regime, but looks like he's turning some heads. My prediction is that he'll at least get a couple of starts this year. My gut tells me Jared Johnson is going to win the 8.23 start. But who knows.

Dopa's joke.

First full pad practice today for the Kats. One takeaway, the defense is the biggest, most explosive I've seen here at SHSU. The front 7 dwarfs what we've had even in the recent past. Suspicions that would be the leading group on the team appeared to be confirmed today. The secondary is much bigger position by position than last year. I was very impressed with the D.

Saw Roderique's HUDL and he is a bigger, faster Bell. Someone on your Kat board wasn't aware he could run (maybe sarcasm?).... 16 rushing TD's almost 900 yds in the read option his senior year. A lot of talent in Texas. Thanks for the update on the SHSU practice, sounds like the D will be fierce.

BUMMER just read this article where it states http://www.si.com/more-sports/2014/08/03/media-circus-college-gameday-chris-fowler-espn-outside-the-lines" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

"The show opens its new season at Sundance Square Fort Worth on August 30 in advance of the Cowboys Classic between Florida State and Oklahoma State. The game will air that night on ABC at 8:00 p.m. ET."

So no College Game Day

Not surprised, since they would have no other games that day to discuss for 3 or 4 hours straight in advance of the game.
