August 23rd vs Sam Houston State on ESPN

Article on 2nd SHSU Scrimmage Aug 9th under Keeler:

http://www.gobearkats.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=19900&ATCLID=209606593

K. C. Keeler calls his 2014 Bearkat football team “a work in progress.”

Would really like EWU to finally beat these guys... Easier said than done. No ghosts from the past though, this will be a completely different team to face. Only 5 starters back on offense and 2 on defense per the article and a new coaching staff.

Defense way...way ahead of the offense. Some buddies of mine saw team for first time today and all came away with same opinion that this might be the best Defense we've had. Especially on the DLine.

Just saw this on Yahoo sports. Theres a vote for who you think will win...right now the vote is for the bad guys  but i know this group will fix the glitch! :thumb: :thumb:

See if this feature on practice works.

The Bearkats could not have found a better coach. Keeler is one sly fox and will have his team well prepared. The rematch with Baldwin will be like Kasparov vs. Fischer. With Baldwin winning again, of course.

Still no QB announced ....we will find out same time as everyone else
it seems. nice job on selling out the joint! Inside two weeks and I'm so so ready.

I think the biggest ? Is what type of offense are you going to run.

Last couple years - spread option
Keelers style - ground, pound, run clock and low scoring
Your new offensive coordinator - run a million plays a game

Should be interesting to see your new style. Your coordinator and Keeler have completely different styles and both differ from your previous coach

Well Keeler and Longo have worked together before so I don't think they are too opposed to philosophies. Also, Longo ran a more traditional run-based offense when he was in the MVC (forget school name). They have aside they want to run tons of plays but honestly I've not seen much different than in past thus far. For sure have done away with the Option as a primary play base. Looks to be typical spread zone read. I think that the talent, size and depth they walked into at RB may ultimately change their philosophy. Like, "We want to do A, but we have players that are good at B, so maybe we go a little more B. ". That's just my observation.

This game needs to hurry up and get here. My work production is waaaayyyy down because the game is all I can think about. I suspect this distraction is not exclusive to me.
On a side note; it warms my heart that wherever I go in the nearby region I see more people sporting Eagle gear than any other university. And many times, when I'm wearing mine, strangers go by and say "Go Eags." Reminds me of a small scale "Roll Tide."

MillineumKat is taking this game seriously :-) Love the "leftovers" at the bottom of fanboard post.

Previews & Updates on SHSU Opening Foe Eastern Washington

This game has become a "Must Win" IMHO.

Does a loss kill our season? no. Keep us out of playoffs? no. Keep us from winning conference? no.

But....The benefits of what a win WOULD create for the program this season instantly make it a MUST WIN. IF we win this game, in this scenario, on ESPN, with all the anticipation and questions regarding the regime change....

It could mean the difference between a sell out on 8/30 and beyond or empty bleachers. Merchandise sales, Alumni support and on and on.

We MUST win this game because we can't afford not to.

We need to throw caution to the wind and throw everything including the kitchen sink, the towel rack, the microwave, leftovers from El Chico's...whatever, WE MUST WIN!

This is so nice to hear! I remember when my son was a Freshman in 2008, we were shocked that the local Foot Locker and such at the Spokane malls carried every local school (including Griz) but not EWU! Over the years since, and especially since the Championship year, it seems like there's been a steady increase in EAG pride! :thumb:
