August 23rd vs Sam Houston State on ESPN

It appears the game will be on ESPN, not 2 or News or any of their other channels. Being the only game that day, I wonder if they will consider bringing the GameDay crew down for it.

I was just wondering if GameDay would come also. I think the School needs to promote the Heck out of this game and get a sellout! i am going to come up from Arizona for the game and hope others will travel from the West Side and Tri Cities to show a good crowd! It would be an awesome time to announce the Gateway Project is a Go! We are in amazing times for EWU and we need to continue on this momentum!

Today like every other day is A Great Day to be an EAGLE!!!

To All,
It is "GREAT NEWs" EWU will kick off the season against SHSU, on Aug. 23, 14. I was so happy I didn't even check for the time. EAGinAZ, I completely agree with your words, we need to get the word out, and fast. I know some Parents and EX Players on the West Side and other places that will get the maximum use out of this news :D :D :D :D :D :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:    August 23rd is a Saturday. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace

This game could be brutal in terms of cramps if it's as hot as it usually is in Cheney around that time. Adams better keep hydrated.

Amazing exposure for the program and University though, and like others have said, we better take full advantage of it. Another bonus: we get a second bye, the first one now being right after we play UW, and the second right before we play PSU to end the regular season. Perfect timing!

It would be cool to see GameDay there, but I seriously doubt it. That event is more than jus ESPN, the talent, and studio set-up. They bring in hundreds of support staff and promotional people, so it is a helluva task. Plus, there wouldn't be much to talk about with only one weekend game.

One secondary benefit here is that we now have a second bye week. The way the conference schedule fell this upcoming season, the bye was at a terrible time. Having two is a huge boost.

Very exciting..can't wait. Sure hope someone thinks to have several of the camera's set to look across to the home side during plays/replays. It's hard for people who don't know us to think we are a big time FCS program when most camera shots are of the visitor side during play. Please someone let ESPN work their magic and get those cameras in such a position it highlights our home side during the run of play!

This has to be the post of the year  Paint a 300' tarp and stretch it from goal to goal on the visitors sideline  You guys know how to play football, but your stadium is a travesty. There is "NO" hiding your junior high facility. Good Luck!

Wow, how unique. Weak stadium smack from a griz fan. Loud and cold sure helped the griz against Coastal Carolina, now didn't it.

Check out egriz. There are several posts that speak highly of EWU, but a couple of the usual suspects are melting down. You can practically hear the sobbing.

Little brothers tend to get jealous from time to time.

Sorry about the smack on your board. You beat our ass in our house this year...enough said. I just couldn't help chuckling about Obzervers comments about the camera placement. You'll be representing the BSC...I hope you smash the Bearcats ass.

Average temps for late August are in the low 80's. It CAN be hot, but not necessarily. I agree though, that a night game would have been better.

And great point on the two byes.

To All,
At the Ladies BB Game last night where our ladies defeated the "Southern Utah University" by 5 points, 59-54, they are attempting to make the FB Game, "Game Day Presentation". Back to the BB Game, it seems as if we were trying to give the game away. Southern Utah, have a great club, our ladies gut it out in the end. I know this is nothing about Eagles vs SHSU. EWU Women also have an Outstand Team, and could hold their own. Vic Wallace

It should be hot for this game. I think VA and all the Players that were having problems haven't learn by now to hydrate themselves, well they will have to suffer through the game. I am sure the Coaches and Trainers are very much aware of the circumstances we will be facing about the hot weather this time of year. Vic Wallace

As much as I freely bitch about Chaves and his shitty scheduling, I have to admire his creativity in building the EWU brand. There was a decent chance the red turf idea completely fell flat, but it didn't, instead becoming a brand identifier for the program. Winning a national championship and several deep playoff runs later, and we're going to be the feature on ESPN for the season opener. That's big stuff right there.

Now if we can sign, seal, and deliver this Gateway Project, life will be good!

This is a No Brainer comment coming, but HAVE THE FREAKING GROUND BREAKING CEREMONY THAT DAY! OR MAKE THE ANNOUNCEMENT with a special presentation during Halftime. You have the national audience who will be foaming at the mouth for college football . . .every HS kid watching . . . what a better platform for it! Make it a done deal on that day!

I asked Dave Cook if Gameday was coming and he said he hasn't heard yet, so it sounds like it's possible. He also mentioned they are working on some VIP appearances as well.

Reading egriz and they don't think this game will be well attended. I think even with the early start this will be a sellout.
