Weber State lost last year because Davies killed us. I think he had over 30 points in the game and dominated!

Rahe played straight man with no help when Davies had the ball in the first half. It was painful to watch. In the second half we started doubling down on Davies and we made a run to get it close before seeming to run out of gas. Davies was also the beneficiary of two easy-to-make charging calls that ended up going for him. The Y gets a lot of calls at our place as well (remember the phantom goal-tending call in 06-07 that sent the game into OT) and those to no-calls kept Davies from foul trouble last year. I wanted those guys so badly last year.

The Y had real trouble shooting from distance last season depending on if Carlino got hot or not. Doesn't discourage them from firing up a lot of 3's. We need them to be cold from outside and we need to double down and trap Mika when he gets the ball inside--see if he can make a pass in pressure. Then we need to be smart on offense, pound them inside and not get in a hurry. The Y loves to run and can really get momentum with their crowd. There's always hope, even if it is a glimmer...

I like it Pirate!! Always gotta have hope. I don't care what everyone else says, Weber is the better team. This is the Cats best chance to pull off a W in Provo in sometime. I hope the men in stripes allows the best team to win.

We as Weber State fans could use some self help books. I've never seen a group of fans blame so much on the refs! Build a bridge and get over it! In some games you might get more or less calls than others, but I don't think there's a top secret society of officials out to screw Weber State.

Hell we even believe that Big Sky officials are against us! We lose games when we don't play our best. When we accept responsibility for what happens on the court, we will be the premier program in Utah! It's time to step up to the plate and set the tone for the future of our program and that begins at BYU. This isn't being played on the grassy knoll, although the Marriott Center feels like it gets some home cooking, Weber has to go in with a chip on its shoulder and play even harder! There is no conspiracy theory!

I've never met an official that I liked. I'm embarrassed to say that. I'm also embarrassed to tell you that every team I've ever been a fan of constantly seems to get screwed in every game by officials! Maybe that's just part of being a fan? I will blame the officials for losses when Rahe starts off his press conference saying " we played great, but the officials took the game from us".

You know that ain't going to happen!

It's good that it's on TV. I can barely stand to drive through Utah county, let alone stay there for a couple of hours. When I've been to BB games there in the past, I've felt fortunate to get out of there with my life. Those fans would kill you in the name of God, and go to heaven for it. I'm sure that I would feel the same way in Islamabad. In fact, I think I will start referring to it as Provoabad, instead of Happy Valley.

Well, you can absolutely count me as one who firmly believes that byu is the benefactor of many blown calls, especially in the MC. I'm not, however, a conspiracy theorist and can recognize and appreciate decent officiating. Despite what you might think, there are a few horrible refs in the BSC and, no, they're not out to get Weber, they just have no business doing what they do (so poorly.) I don't believe the majority of Weber's loses can be blamed on poor officiating, but you have to believe that bad calls in close games certainly can change outcomes. If it happens against Weber at the hands of the zooms, it should be a criminal offense.

Who is heading to Provo for the game?? I just got my tickets!! I bought them at the Dee Events Center for $10. Me and four other Wildcats will be heading to the game (kilts, flylike, baskerville82, and pmcat). Of course terrible seats, but that is to be expected. This is BYU after all!! Moroni wouldn't get a good seat in that place cause he would be wearing white.

By the way, there are still a lot of seats available for purchase at the Dee Events Center Ticket Office!! Go get'em.

Good luck on your pilgrimage to Happy Valley, If you all go missing we will look for you on the newest Season of Sister Wives or some other polygamy show. :thumb:
I will enjoy this game from home, that way I can swear as much as I want and not have to worry about getting kicked out (except by my wife).

Projected starters for BYU are Carlino, Haws, Collinsworth, Austin, and Mika.

That makes sense. Rose has a lot of faith in Mika. A freshman big who already has the confidence of his head coach. He is pretty darn good. He was one of our top prospects before he committed to BYU. However, he is a true freshman big. Freshman starters are hard to find, but even harder to find are freshman bigs (Omar would have started every game at Weber State, too bad he will sit the bench for the next three years at Miami); and he is from Utah. He is starting against one of the most experienced center's in the country. Has anyone seen how Mika has looked so far?

Scored 6 and grabbed 4 boards in their first ex game, and 17 and 14 in their second one.

I am fairly familiar with Mika. No doubt, he is good for a freshman but his game right now is all around the basket ... fast breaks, put-backs and some skill with his back to the basket. If we put a big body on him and force him off the block, box out, etc. he will struggle. Also, at the college level his passing from the post may be a little weak, so when he makes his move a quick double team to force the pass should serve us well. I have not seen much from him as far as a jump shot goes; unless he has worked on that this summer.

This game will be won or lost in the post. Tres and Joel will have to bring it. Mika is a horse and will be great in a couple of years. Tres is ready and can't back down from a Freshman. Joel got torched by Davies last year. His 33 points was almost 40% of the scoring for BYU. Potential can't be a burden for Joel..... It's his time to step up his game. Rahe will have these guys ready..... But the expectations are high!

The Y is going to do everything they can to push the ball away from the post. I wouldn't doubt if Rose goes to a Triangle and 2 again, like he did last year. But thankfully this year he doesn't have a dominant post player. Mika is good, but he is at his best when running the floor. That could be said of the entire BYU team. If they get out running...YIKES!! Can't allow the cougs to be able to penetrate and cut to the basket. I want to force them into taking lots of outside shots. So far, well in their exhibition games, they haven't looked very lethal from outside. NO Turnovers by the Cats!! :thumb:
