Coach Beau Baldwin and Oregon State & other coaching rumors

Mike Leach is not going to Nebraska. His personality will absolutely not fit in Lincoln with that fan base and they won't put up with it like Pullman does. Pelini was ran out of town for his personality. This is the program of Tom Osborne and they've been looking for another one since he retired. Mike Reilly got the job there simply because he's a super guy. Unfortunately for everyone involved with the program, it just hasn't worked out. Nebraska is going after Scott Frost, the Nebraska boy.

As far as Beau, Oregon State would be absolutely foolish to not offer him the job again. The question is, does Beau want it? He's already proven he doesn't jump for jobs just for the sake of titles and money. I think WSU is probably a better job and I do believe Leach is leaving at the end of the season (just not to Nebraska), but I just can't fathom having to become a WSU fan.... :ohno:
Felt the same way about Petersen, who I love, going to the Huskies. Think he has changed the culture enough to make watching the Huskies bearable. Apple Cup should be a great game. Both QB's look shaky to me. Pretty much a washington football TEAMS fan at this point, glad to see all of them be successful. What's up with the super late starts of all the Huskies games though? Am usually asleep by the 2nd quarter.

The PAC 12 and their piss poor contract agreement with ESPN and Fox Sports. The only way to get those big name networks to show big games, is to play them in the late windows. So, the choice is to suck, play on Pac 12 network and get 12:30 games, or be good, play on ESPN/FOX and kickoff at 8pm. DUMB, STUPID, DUMB!
It's been pretty ridiculous. The best Pac games are on at 10:30 pm est. No one out here is watching, so the value of having them on ESPN or Fox is minimal. Been screaming at the Pac12 commissioner for being a buffoon all season long. Would rather see Pac 12 in the 4 pm afternoon eastern slot instead of ceding those slots so all the SEC games can be seen on every channel from noon - 7 pm. Basically, PAC 12 had it's nuts cut off this season.

Lot's of consensus on Coach B going to Oregon State. Does he pull Troy Taylor or Jim McElwain for OC... Zak Hill?
http://footballscoop.com/news/sources-beau-baldwin-oregon-state-head-coach/

Who would he tap for DC at Ore St.? I like the guy Clune who is there already. 1st season as DC at Ore St and they didn't totally suck.

Any former Eastern QB's to be the QB coach? Salanoa is out...

I can see him raiding top FCS programs for assistants.. Too bad none of them on on the west coast

I crack me up.

If I was Beau, would look to bring in about 15 Junior college transfers aka Kansas St or Texas Tech to shore up the weak points. It's mercenary, but OSU needs some athlete's and Nall is talking about moving on at RB.

Would have rather seen him go to UCLA myself now that Rosen will be gone (was he a cancer on that team?). Expect a lot of news today or tomorrow on those jobs. Guessing if Chip Kelly wants it, UCLA is his.

Football Scoop has a strong possibility that Leach goes to Tennessee... Don't know how he and Gruden will get along. That would be wild. Grinch would be the new WSU coach.

SO WHAT IF.....Baldwin calls on Best to come to OSU? HUGE pay increase...would you go if you were Best?

Pay is one thing, but that type of role would be a HUGE step back from being the HC. He's not an OC or DC type where it might make sense. There are a billion OL coaches out there and like a Tom Cable, Best can always go back to being an OL coach should the HC thing not work out.

Don't know that Baldwin would take any of our key coaches; but I don't read minds.

This article says OSU AD Scott Barnes is still interviewing.

I kind of hope Baldwin doesn't go to OSU to be honest. You're #2 in Oregon and with Petersen putting the Huskies back on the map it's almost like they're really #3 in Oregon. It's a tough place to do well. Not impossible, but I think Baldwin could stick at Cal for another year or two as OC and land a more prestigious job somewhere else and just put himself in a better position to succeed. I guess we'll see though.

Isn't BARNES an intron AD?
If that is the case I would pass as the guy who gets the job will want his own guy in there.

I disagree. OSU is a great 1st power 5 job. He will be given time to recruit with less pressure and lower expectations. Beau will turn that program around. I'm not talking playoff contention, but a consistent bowl team with an occasional run at the PAC 12 and THAT could lead to a bigger job someday.

I hope you're right. BB has it in him to do it. I still think it would be a difficult job.

Todd Graham has been let go at ASU and they are talking about replacing him with a guy with a similar record at the school with the largest recruiting budget in the nation, Texas A&M... Didn't care for Graham but this doesn't make a lot of sense outside of Sumlin knowing Texas recruiting. Of course, Sumlin has to become available. Any chance they would take a shot with Coach B? I don't think so, but as of this a.m. no announcement from OSU. Anyone know who's Baldwin's agent is?

This.

So, what's going on at OSU? Nearly 5 pm est and no news... Pimp Kelly has landed at UCLA and Sumlin is out at Texas A&M along with Graham at ASU.

I think CBB is the guy at OSU. They’re probably just pissed it got leaked and are waiting until the Dec 6th deadline to make the announcement.

What Dec. 6th Deadline are you referring too?

who is CBB? According to the Portland newspaper Barnes had more coaches he wanted to interview before finalizing the decision.

I suspected the BB but the C was kind of suspicious

No surprises here: Montana (FCS): Former Montana head coach, and current San Diego State special teams coordinator, Bobby Hauck is reportedly interviewing today for the head job at Montana.

Hauck probably learned a couple things at SDSU from Rocky Long. Loved Long's defenses back in the day.
