JMU has locked up their man for the next 10 years...

James Madison (FCS – VA): Head coach Mike Houston has signed a 10-year extension taking him through 2027, the school has announced.

In other news, the DC, Phil Bennett at Arizona State who made their defense relevant this season has left the program after the hire of Herm Edwards.. Not an ASU fan, but hard to resist reiterating the apocalyptic effect of hiring Edwards will be on this program. Per speculation, maybe we can pick up one or two players who will want to transfer after spring ball. My apologies, am in a mood this morning.

If JMU continues their success, I highly doubt Houston is there in 10 years. A major program *will* have the funds to buy-out his contract. JMU is likely the place (much like EWU is now) where your career path takes you to FBS rather than another FCS team.

Most likely JMU did this so they get something in return when Houston leaves. My guess is the buyout figure increased, no way Houston stays there for 10 years, I doubt he’s there longer than one year.

In other news, Grinch may be looking to leave WSU while the iron is hot. He has adapted to the personnel he has, a move to the SEC is a about surrounding himself with competent assistants:

Washington State: Defensive coordinator Alex Grinch is “weighing multiple offers, including Texas A&M and Arkansas,” Brock Huard noted on 710 ESPN Seattle today. Huard added that he’d be surprised if Grinch opts to stay in Pullman. Update> Sources tell FootballScoop Texas A&M has their eyes on another person and that Grinch was never offered Texas A&M defensive coordinator.
