Collins is using Dan Hawkins motus operandi at CU-----Talk big, fail miserably when the time comes to back it up, and then when you get asked about it, throw somebody else under the bus. That trend continued today with him telling Maya Starks about how the players "haven't bought in" to him.
He said
if they don't buy into what they're doing he will replace them by recruiting over them.
Thats exactly what I'm talking about---Talk a good game, fail miserably to back it up, and then when you get asked, throw anybody you can under the bus (your predecessor, the players, etc.) The way this year is going, I'm tempted to show him the door after the season---He's losing the players with his "recruiting over them" talk, and he already has lost the fans.
Downing did the same thing, with one of my all time favorite quotes. "We are a D2 team playing a D1 schedule" - Scott Downing.
I agree that maybe saying that isn't the best thing. But I do think this team lacks talent.
They don't lack that much talent---This team nearly beat Weber in Ogden last year, yet Mike Hoke looked like Andrew Luck Saturday. The difference between Downing and Collins---Downing didn't throw his players under the bus like this goon did. That "Can I trust you?" shirt? Nothing screams "I've walked into a disaster of a program and somehow managed to screw it up even more" than that.
You've just proved that you have no idea what you're talking about. Downing threw his players under the bus time and time again, he even tried to blame them for playcalling from time to time. Collins, along with the rest of the players and staff, have been wearing the "Can I trust you?" shirts all season. And it's an apt question, because they've found some guys already, about whom the answer to it is "No."
Go back to the CU boards, that's the only team you seem to know or care about.
