Will you root for Montana to win so Eastern gets the Big Sky title outright, or root for Montana State to win and make the Griz kiss the playoffs goodbye?

I'm holding my nose, and rooting for Montana. It pains me to say that. I may reassess the situation later in the week.

I'd rather see the Griz get snuffed. Egriz meltdowns are so fun to read.

HOWEVER, if the Griz make playoffs, Delaney might keep his job. Which will lead to more years of Griz blunder. Hmm....

That is a very good question. I think I would also like to see the Griz miss out again!

It's a win-win. If the Griz win, we win the conference outright. Cats win, eGriz melts down, and the Kittens will likely get an easy draw 1st round then be forced to go to fargo to get their asses kicked again.

I guess I'm hoping the Griz win for a couple reasons. One, it would give us back to back outright BSC championships (2012 was shared). Two, it's the best case scenario for the the BSC to get three teams in the playoffs.

After yesterday, NAU, CP, and ISU are probably out.

So...Go Griz? :|

Delaney is done regardless, so don't hold your breath. I'm pretty sure there are at least 2 folks employed by EWU that have been made aware of this as well. Mick served his purpose but now it's time for a younger, dynamic, visionary coach to take charge of the program and return things to normal in Missoula. The new academic center will be finished by spring and they will begin breaking ground on the weight rooms, locker rooms and new Griz-vision screen shortly thereafter. Our next head coach is certainly going to have some game changing tools at his disposal.

I'm inclined to want what is best for the Eagles rather than what may be the worst for another team.
As much as I hate to say it "Go Griz"
In fear of getting off topic I have to ask Grizfnz, why do Griz fans (some anyway) think a new coach will automatically mean greater success? Are they ignorant to the programs success' of late. Sometimes the saying, be careful what you wish for, is very appropriate.

I'm rooting for the Griz. I think the outright conference title is far more important than watching the egriz folks have a meltdown. Besides, if the Griz beat the Cats there may well be another opportunity to watch an epic egriz s*** fit if they make the playoffs, play a weak team in the first round at home and then lose.

So you think Beau Baldwin is going to be the next coach of the Griz?

Nice. Coach Graham would be a good choice to take over your troubled program.

With all that new money from the Washington family maybe they can hire the Pirate of the Paluose. According to some folks in cougville there is a feeling that they made serious a mistake hiring Mike "air raid" Leach. Seems to me the Griz deserve someone of his caliber. While there at it they should re-hire Bill "if we build it they will come" Moos.

Just reading that made me nauseated.

My hunch is he was talking about Coach Best. Montana would be a fairly lateral move for Baldwin. If someone hired Bakdwin away from Eastern (and it wouldn't be Montana), I think Best would probably be the front runner for our next Head Coach.

I think LDopaPDX is right, Coach Baldwin is not likely to go to UM, and they are indeed probably referring to Coach Best, but the thought of it is disgusting. I disagree that it's a fairly lateral move. In my opinion he wouldn't improve his resume by moving to UM and in fact he may harm it. I think staying at top FCS program is the best way for him to prepare for a move to a good FBS program if that's what plans to do someday.

WRT Coach Best or Coach Graham, I disagree. We're talking about a Head Coaching position versus an OC or DC position at Eastern.

WRT Coach Baldwin, he's not going to Montana. The difference in pay would be neglible (might be less at UM), and I'm not sure why he would want to leave everything he's built at Eastern behind.

Same thing for any potential FBS move - he's got stability here. Sure, most of those FBS jobs will pay much more, but 2-3 years of losing seasons and there's the prospect of having to start the process all over again. I'd love to see Coach B go the Jerry Moore route and continue to build a dynasty at Eastern.

It has to be the outright championship. I'll be "cheering" for the Griz.

Ranger, like you I'd love to see Coach Baldwin be the next Jerry Moore. By all indications there is a good chance he may do just that, that's why I used the word "if" with regard to a potential move to the FBS.

You are absolutely right there is a lot to said for stability and coach Baldwin does indeed personify stability.

Let's hope we can start making some improvements to the facilities to keep the fan base growing.

Moore was making over $300K at the end IIRC.

I'd invest in Baldwin and the rest of the coaches before the Gateway. :twocents:

Haha well I'd love to see Coach Best's reaction to that offer. Unless things have changed drastically since I sat in the online meeting room, I doubt he'd be very receptive to that.
