Ironic you posted today, I just booked airline tickets and hotel rooms for Sept 9-11. The Eagles are coming off an off year and in a rebuilding phase. Cooper Kupp is the obvious star on the offense. The QB position is a little iffy at this point, we lost most of the O-line to graduation, the defense is still a work in progress, other than that we are really stout!
We're looking forward to the tailgating in Fargo.

Awesome. Its a long trip, but when you a chance to play in the Thundar Dome, you will know why visiting teams don't like playing here for their first time, yet its impressive, like a Mini Metro Dome from Minneapolis with the Concourses with History of Pics of Bison Past from early days of 1920 to the current. Give yourself some time to walk around inside prior to the game as well. Brand new Daktronic ScoreBoards across both end zones on the ceiling should give lots of replays and color excitement to the fans....

I was shocked to see a Red Field back in 2010, and we made SI magazine with a 2 page game photo, and every since I don't care for red. Green is much more fitting, lol.

I think you will be impressed with the Herd. Sounds like your teams going through growing pains early, but this year we should be as good as predicted, the only area a bit concerning is one of the corner back spots, otherwise we should be as tough as ever. My feeling is we should be as good as 2013 team as they went undefeated, but this years schedule is by far the toughest nonconference games, Eagles included, then down to Iowa to play the big birds Iowa Hawkeyes.
MVFC schedule is loaded this year. So lots of beating up each other. We may lose one game, either UNI or Western Illinois away? Oops Hawkeyes is a toss up., this team is good enough to beat them and make another FBS conquest to our record, but it will be tuff as hell.

I will be watching your first game prior to ours as will many other Bison Fans. We remember 2010, when it started the off season anger and the will to get back to the national playoffs and we haven't look back. Plum Crazy times, welcome to Title Town FCS Fargo ND in Sept.

See ya then, make sure to wear your red, good fun at the tailgating, you might even be offered a beer or two for coming this far.

Be Herd,
NoDakBisman

Thunder Dome? Really? Seems like a multi-purpose conference center kinda thing with very large green and yellow blobs sticking to the seats. Just my impression....

I don't disagree on the color a bit; about the ugliest shades at green and yellow combo out there. But, I like the design on the stadium where the seating is very steep, on all sides and close to the field. I'm sure it looks and sounds like a lot more then 19,000 folks.

Can you tell me more about your Eagles this year. It looks like a rebuilding season is that correct?
I think Montana and UND should be tough, how about Portland State?

No Bad seat in our stadium as you said stadium is steep so everyones closer to the field.

Be Bison,
NoDakBisman.

It is a rebuilding year. Amongst other issues (Defense), we are replacing our entire offensive line and breaking in a new QB, whoever that might be. Might not be the high flying offense that people are used to seeing from EWU. Hate to admit, we probably get blown out in Fargo this year.

You guys play at WA-Grizzly Stadium every other year and seem to handle the environment better than most. EWU will be able to handle the noise in the dome just fine. I went to the UM/NDSU playoff game last year in Fargo and while it is loud, Washington-Grizzly Stadium is louder. The Fargodome is just more of an annoying loud.

Never been to the Fargo Dump, but it's a dome and it looks pretty unappealing on television. You're right about EWU handling noise however, they play at WA-Griz, Bobcat stadium, and have played @ Oregon, Washington x's 2, Wazzu, and Oregon State within the last 5 years. Noise won't be the issue, it will just be the match up.

Although noise aside, EWU has laid some real eggs while playing indoors in recent memory. I really hate indoor football!

There is absolutely the potential of being beaten pretty soundly by NDSU this season, but I disagree with the idea of a "rebuilding year." When was the last time EWU had a year that would qualify as rebuilding? I certainly wouldn't call last season a rebuild, as it was mostly just ineptitude on defense. 2011 was solely because of injuries. I would say 2008 was the last time you would truly call it a rebuild. It was Baldwin's first season as head coach and the team went 6-5.

In 2012, we had a new QB situation between Padron and Adams, but even then those two guys probably had less experience in the system than West, Hennessey or Gubrud will have this season. On D, we have mostly all returners from last season. RB's are mostly returners and definitely WR's have a boatload of experience. OL would be the only area we look to be pretty green.

I agree, I just don't see this as a rebuilding year. We return 9 starters on a defense that was very, very young last year and adapting to a brand new scheme and brand new D coordinator. I think the new DL coach will bring more aggression and we will see a big improvement on D.

As far as offense, we lost our entire line, but we have all our skill position players back and we get Shaq HIll back this year. We have the best OL coach in the FCS so the line will be fine, there will probably be some early bumps, but we will be fine. In regards to our QB's, West has a lot of experience and Reilly has some. It appears Gubrud may be the best fit for the new "tweaked" offense this year and I don't think we will see an issue at all on offense.

As some have pointed out, our biggest issue is our schedule, its horrible. We need to start 2-2 if we want to make a good run at and in the playoffs. As far as scheduling it sure doesn't seem to be improving and I sure hope we bring in a cupcake to Cheney next year as our 3rd non-conf game...

When we were there, it sucked. It felt more like an indoor football arena game than it did a college football game. Football shouldn't be played in a dome. The only good thing about the trip was the tailgating. They do a fantastic job with it.

We have been absolutely atrocious playing in domes throughout the years...

My worst fear is a qb by committee situation...like we did last year did not work out very well. Pick one and go with it.

Ask Idaho about that

Just a few that come to mind...

2015 @ Northern Iowa 38-35 L
2014 @ NAU 28-27 L
2011 @ South Dakota 30-17 L

Wins in domes during same period

2015 @ Idaho State 45-28 W (Solid win but iffy 1st half)
2013 @ North Dakota 35-14 W
2013 @ Idaho State 54-35 W (Looked really bad for 3 quarters and pulled away)
2012 @ Idaho 20-3 W (It's Idaho....)
2011 @ Northern Arizona 36-28 W (Bad 1st quarter; down at the half)
2011 @ Idaho State 45-14 W (Terrible ISU team)

So 6-3 in domes since 2011, but 3 of those wins are against Idaho State who didn't have very good teams in those years, and a fourth against Idaho. NAU played us tough in 2011 and North Dakota was a pretty solid W. To me, it just doesn't seem like we play well in domes. I guess we'll have a chance to change that perception this season with games @ NDSU and @ NAU.

Ok, but both of those QBs in 2012 were better than anyone we have on the roster right now, wouldn't you agree? As always, WR will be a big strength, and I'm excited to see the young guns coming in at RB. We brought in some huge talent there.

I am always skeptical of the D, but all things considered we should be improved there.

Perhaps, but regardless, all three of the QB's on this roster would compete for the starting spot on virtually any Big Sky team, and they're all a year older. We'll find our guy.

Or NAU, Idaho State, and top 5 UNI we only lost by 3 to last year. (Although we did sort of play like crap in that one).

I believe Eastern is a whopping Oh-fer-7 in domes against MVC teams. I didn't look it up, but we've never beaten UNI and we got beat by a USD team that we shoulda beat by 40.

Mmmm no. Adams was better to this point, but I would not say Padron.

Oh god, the 2011 game against South Dakota, don't remind me. Didn't we have third string TEs playing on the o-line due to injuries in that game?

Well paybacks are a Bitch right? I do say a RED football field? Really? That's my thought. I think Griz stadium has the best setting in FCS football, and it gives a look like a mini Husker stadium in my opinion. I enjoyed watching the game last August with Brent Musberger calling it, and even though we lost, it was a fun game to watch from a independent college football fan for sure. Down to the wire. Griz QB played the game of his life.

As far as our Dome, to me it makes the environment seem so BIG TIME in the lights once you walk out from the concourses to the stadium seats. Your close, not far from the field, and theres not a bad seat in the house.

For many traveling 200 to 300 miles to watch a game its nice knowing the temp inside will be perfect in the Fargo Dome.
No excuses then for the Eagles. Well actually from what I have read your oline is very new and if that's the case our D front 7 are going to bring the house to your QB and he won't have time to throw to your All American Coop much. That will be the key, and if your Dfense is fair, then we will pound the ball all game until we get stopped, then start to mix it up.....we don't have a weak spot on the team other then DCorners young but talented. That's it. We are loaded this year with senior leadership and All-Americans on both sides of the ball.
Its nuts. Hard to believe we just reload with the next man up.... its so true.... but we do owe the EWU some payback and who took away our 1st FCS title and would have been 6 in a row by now! Oh us fans are a bit silly, but we haven't forgotten. But if you come enjoy the tailgaiting, wear your god awful red, and have a beer with us and take it all in.... Fargo Title Town FCS.

While you have every right to be bullish on your defense given how extraordinary they've been over the last few years- best in the FCS by a country mile- I'd see your scenario as unlikely. Eastern has proven time and time again that the offense can compete with just about anyone. We scored 52 on a Washington team that featured 4 players drafted in the first two rounds that year.

I'd see your offense as salivating for this game. Big Sky defenses have been really poor over the last few years and our D has consistently been at or near the bottom of that bad bunch. The D has given up 50 or more points in a game no less than 8 times in the last two seasons... and some of those teams that score at will against us aren't even all that great.

Defense wins Championships at any level of football. We have proven that, Alabama has proven that, NFL has proven that year after year. You can score 50 points a game in your conference, but that won't get you to Frisco when you play a team with a talented Defense who will shut you down. But the secret is a TIME KILLING OFFENSE WHO CHEWS UP THE CLOCK AND STAYS ON THE FIELD! That's our best defense is a suffocating offense that teams can't stop, 6 - 8 minute drives just suck the life out of opposing teams and then our DFense is fresh.
Example: Griz/Bison last August, we couldn't stop the Griz on the last drive of the game, 4 4th down conversions and our Dfense was running out of gas. They won.

So your theory of 50 points will get you far is a farce, maybe in the Big Sky, but not in the MVFC.

Your guys have a brutal nonconference schedule, FBS Washington State, NDSU, then Northern Iowa, All on the road. Holy crap. Your team will either be 0-3 and beat up, or if they get one win out of that they will be doing OK. Northern Iowa and the Bison are clearly the best 2 teams in the nation this year. We will both make the playoffs and I hope are in opposite brackets, we will probably play each other in Frisco is my guess.
Its like Bama and FSU or Bama and LSU its that type of tough football, they have speed, size to match us so they will be tough for you to beat as well let me tell you. I hate those guys, and we hate them. Especially their coach!

Hope you can make it out to Fargo some of you Eagle Fans and see what we have created since 2010, its amazing what winning does.....
Oh by the way we would have beaten U of Washington, and we will knock off Iowa Haweyes on Sept.17th in Iowa City so be watching live 9am ESPN from Washington MST or PAC time. I have that much confidence in this years team and focus. We are loaded with boys who are inspired to succeed at the highest level!

I don't disagree on the color a bit; about the ugliest shades at green and yellow combo out there. But, I like the design on the stadium where the seating is very steep, on all sides and close to the field. I'm sure it looks and sounds like a lot more then 19,000 folks.

When we were there, it sucked. It felt more like an indoor football arena game than it did a college football game. Football shouldn't be played in a dome. The only good thing about the trip was the tailgating. They do a fantastic job with it.

Be Herd, race to Frisco goes through Fargo once again,

Wow, I got chills just reading this. I hope the EAGS realize how honored they should feel just setting foot in that Mecca of football.
