I don't disagree on the color a bit; about the ugliest shades at green and yellow combo out there. But, I like the design on the stadium where the seating is very steep, on all sides and close to the field. I'm sure it looks and sounds like a lot more then 19,000 folks.

You guys play at WA-Grizzly Stadium every other year and seem to handle the environment better than most. EWU will be able to handle the noise in the dome just fine. I went to the UM/NDSU playoff game last year in Fargo and while it is loud, Washington-Grizzly Stadium is louder. The Fargodome is just more of an annoying loud.

Never been to the Fargo Dump, but it's a dome and it looks pretty unappealing on television. You're right about EWU handling noise however, they play at WA-Griz, Bobcat stadium, and have played @ Oregon, Washington x's 2, Wazzu, and Oregon State within the last 5 years. Noise won't be the issue, it will just be the match up.

Although noise aside, EWU has laid some real eggs while playing indoors in recent memory. I really hate indoor football!

When we were there, it sucked. It felt more like an indoor football arena game than it did a college football game. Football shouldn't be played in a dome. The only good thing about the trip was the tailgating. They do a fantastic job with it.

Well paybacks are a Bitch right? I do say a RED football field? Really? That's my thought. I think Griz stadium has the best setting in FCS football, and it gives a look like a mini Husker stadium in my opinion. I enjoyed watching the game last August with Brent Musberger calling it, and even though we lost, it was a fun game to watch from a independent college football fan for sure. Down to the wire. Griz QB played the game of his life.

As far as our Dome, to me it makes the environment seem so BIG TIME in the lights once you walk out from the concourses to the stadium seats. Your close, not far from the field, and theres not a bad seat in the house.

For many traveling 200 to 300 miles to watch a game its nice knowing the temp inside will be perfect in the Fargo Dome.
No excuses then for the Eagles. Well actually from what I have read your oline is very new and if that's the case our D front 7 are going to bring the house to your QB and he won't have time to throw to your All American Coop much. That will be the key, and if your Dfense is fair, then we will pound the ball all game until we get stopped, then start to mix it up.....we don't have a weak spot on the team other then DCorners young but talented. That's it. We are loaded this year with senior leadership and All-Americans on both sides of the ball.
Its nuts. Hard to believe we just reload with the next man up.... its so true.... but we do owe the EWU some payback and who took away our 1st FCS title and would have been 6 in a row by now! Oh us fans are a bit silly, but we haven't forgotten. But if you come enjoy the tailgaiting, wear your god awful red, and have a beer with us and take it all in.... Fargo Title Town FCS.

While you have every right to be bullish on your defense given how extraordinary they've been over the last few years- best in the FCS by a country mile- I'd see your scenario as unlikely. Eastern has proven time and time again that the offense can compete with just about anyone. We scored 52 on a Washington team that featured 4 players drafted in the first two rounds that year.

I'd see your offense as salivating for this game. Big Sky defenses have been really poor over the last few years and our D has consistently been at or near the bottom of that bad bunch. The D has given up 50 or more points in a game no less than 8 times in the last two seasons... and some of those teams that score at will against us aren't even all that great.

Defense wins Championships at any level of football. We have proven that, Alabama has proven that, NFL has proven that year after year. You can score 50 points a game in your conference, but that won't get you to Frisco when you play a team with a talented Defense who will shut you down. But the secret is a TIME KILLING OFFENSE WHO CHEWS UP THE CLOCK AND STAYS ON THE FIELD! That's our best defense is a suffocating offense that teams can't stop, 6 - 8 minute drives just suck the life out of opposing teams and then our DFense is fresh.
Example: Griz/Bison last August, we couldn't stop the Griz on the last drive of the game, 4 4th down conversions and our Dfense was running out of gas. They won.

So your theory of 50 points will get you far is a farce, maybe in the Big Sky, but not in the MVFC.

Your guys have a brutal nonconference schedule, FBS Washington State, NDSU, then Northern Iowa, All on the road. Holy crap. Your team will either be 0-3 and beat up, or if they get one win out of that they will be doing OK. Northern Iowa and the Bison are clearly the best 2 teams in the nation this year. We will both make the playoffs and I hope are in opposite brackets, we will probably play each other in Frisco is my guess.
Its like Bama and FSU or Bama and LSU its that type of tough football, they have speed, size to match us so they will be tough for you to beat as well let me tell you. I hate those guys, and we hate them. Especially their coach!

Hope you can make it out to Fargo some of you Eagle Fans and see what we have created since 2010, its amazing what winning does.....
Oh by the way we would have beaten U of Washington, and we will knock off Iowa Haweyes on Sept.17th in Iowa City so be watching live 9am ESPN from Washington MST or PAC time. I have that much confidence in this years team and focus. We are loaded with boys who are inspired to succeed at the highest level!

Here's a little help...

Dopa was agreeing with you on the 50 points thing.

We actually get UNI here at home.

The only real cure for a hangover is time.

No shit... Reading comprehension is not strong with that one.

Yes, scoring 52 points proves you can score. When you give up 59, all it means is you played a really long game.

There is a big difference between confidence/proud, and cocky/ridiculous and NDSU fans prove almost every time they speak that they represent the latter. I respect what NDSU has done on the field the last 5 years and there is really no arguing with it. The fact that 6 YEARS after the 2010 playoff game, we're still hearing from Biz-on faithful about how they got screwed, proves that they have the ultimate complex and nothing will ever change it. If 5 straight championships won't change it, nothing will.

He fumbled, get over it!

NDSU still hates Eastern because we screwed them out of a win in that 2010 playoff game - weren't the officials assigned to the game by the NCAA from a conference in another part of the country?

Yes, they always are for playoff games.

Consider yourselves lucky that this is the only Bison fan on your board right now... last year leading up to the Griz/NDSU game, eGriz was overrun with cocky/ridiculous Bison fans who were seeking constant validation on what they've accomplished. I respect what their program has done... their fan base? Not so much. :coffee:

Wow, I got chills just reading this. I hope the EAGS realize how honored they should feel just setting foot in that Mecca of football.

Its good to rekindle the past, and next year you Eagle Fans get the privilege to play the 6Time Defending Champions at your place. My oh my...... and the truth shall set you free...... nah just kidding.

When your great, your great, and that's where we are..... I got another good football mind quote for ya, " Your only as good as your second team QB". Look at the Bison again for that example:
Brock Jensen 4 year starter 2010-2013, Most FCS wins for a starting QB on record, in comes Carson Wentz waiting for his chance, 2 more titles, now Easton Stick (sophomore) who will probably get 3 more Titles in his name and will be playing in the CFL or NFL after his years are over.... our 2nd string QB is a Junior and if Easton goes down, our 2nd QB knows the system and can get it done as well with confidence we continue to march to Frisco! That's having a great attitude and team concept.. Many young talented players have egos and that's it.
Its all about me. That doesn't fly in Title Town, its next man up, and do your job!
So the question how good are your backup QBs. That's all your ever going to know when considering how good your team is going to be....at any level.

Do I need to go on......? I think you get it.....

We'll be watching Eagles/Washington State, hope you guys can keep it close.....? Cougars seem to be a pickem team in the PAC 12 this year. We'll show you how to do in on Sept.17th in Iowa City playing the Hawkeyes. We'll getter done! That's how confident I am in this team. Not Cocky, just know these players and how they just look forward to these big FBS games they get one every 2 or 3 years if they are lucky.

Have a nice week, watch us next Saturday the 27th 5:30pm MST or 4:30pm PAC time on ESPN, the Fargo Dome will be Rockin!

Your? Ok. Lets chat a bit more.
Two weeks since both teams have now played.
Eagles look really good if you like offense, but no answer for defense? Not a recipe for a national run to Frisco.
Bison - looked iffy for sure, but CSU came and really brought it to us on Defense and gave us a taste of our own medicine with a good run game. First game of the year, bit of nerves, but somehow we pulled it out.
Yours was definitely an exciting game against WSU. Love seeing any FCS team beat a FBS team! Good work. You guys seem to have a handle on the FBS boys in the NW Territory.
So now this next 2 weeks will tell all the FCS nation what we need to know about your Eagles and for our Bison.
We both have big national affecting games coming up.
Who comes out with going 3-0 or 2-1, or 1-2? That's a big question.

EWU/NDSU - should be an exciting game - Its the same old story, make opposing team one dimensional, and get after them the rest of the game. We take away your pass game? Whats left? However you do have a great passing game and your QB looked good as well with his feet. Time of possession is huge in this upcoming game.
34 - 21 Bison.

EWU/UNI - same story line, UNI has got great talented QB/RB combo, and a stout defense. Can EWU come back a week later with all the travel and play another playoff team again in 2 weeks. I think it takes a toll on EWU.
IF you guys come out 1-1 in the next 2 weeks that will be a positive for you.

Bison/ Hawkeyes - in 2 weeks, we have our work cut out. We have to play A ball or we go down, Iowa must play B+ ball and with their talent should be able to handle NDSU. But...... once again its the size of the heart in a player that helps teams win games against all odds.... as you guys did in Pullman!

So if both our teams are 2-1 over the first 3 weeks I will be happy. Realistically could be 1-2 for either of us, but more on your end with 2 more far away games and travel etc.......tough to run a gauntlet like that and be 3-0 against Bison/Panthers whom could both beat WSU as well.

Hope you can come make the trip to Fargo this weekend, best tailgaiting in the FCS and many FBS schools.
Come see how we play in our Dome, and I will tell you it won't be like how we played against CSU. The coaches will have the Herd ready. Should be a good one for us fans.

Be Herd, race to Frisco goes through Fargo once again,

Be Herd,
NoDakBisman

Go Bison, Be Herd,

NDSU still hates Eastern because we screwed them out of a win in that 2010 playoff game - weren't the officials assigned to the game by the NCAA from a conference in another part of the country?

Pac-12.

I keep hearing NDSU will be a completely different animal then WSU. How about EWU will be a completely different animal then CSU? Tempo will be the key in this one. If NDSU can play tied or in the lead and control time of possession with a punishing running game and play action pass then they will have the advantage. But, what happens if EWU jumps out in front with their explosive offense and forces NDSU to score 35+ points to keep up. This certainly plays into the Eags favor. I don't see NDSU keeping the Eags under 28 points. Hope their offense improves a bunch over their first game NDSU is gonna need it! Eags 38 - 33 in a thriller.

I agree. I think the NDSU defense will play better than WSU's did, but I don't think they will shut us down. How good is the NDSU offense? I didn't get a chance to see their first game.

NDSU is an incredible program that deserves all the respect in the world for what they've been able to accomplish in the past 5 years. They don't due anything tricky, they just line up and go at you and dare you to stop it. It is very simple football, but they've been great at it.

But I think you might have a point. This year's EWU team might be a little different than the teams NDSU has faced lately, so it will be interesting to see how they match up against Kupp, et al.

I do think this team is head and shoulders above the team that played UNI last year, and even without Kupp we still had a great shot to win that game on the road. NDSU and UNI look like great teams once again, but I think we're looking pretty good as well. It'd be great to at least go 1-1 against the Missouri Valley teams.

FWIW, Martin Stadium isn't even in the conversation compared to WGS.

Also FWIW, our second game of the season has historically been a bad one. We tend to open very strong and have a terrible dip in form the following week. Hopefully, this year is an exception!

QB has a good arm, great feet, size and speed. Two big backs, reasonable WR's and good OL. Defense is well schooled and talented. It will be a considerable challenge to contain the QB. Only saw the game against Charleston Southern, but new guy is a handful. Don't think they can cover our top three receivers consistently and with wrinkles like the fly sweeps we saw at WSU, their defense will have to stay at home making it even harder to cover. Tough turnaround after an emotional win at WSU to travel to NDSU. Will take a coin flip; it probably isn't.

This year IS the exception. Haven't seen focus like this from the Eag's... ever. (maybe the championship season). Most teams improve from week 1 to week 2 or they don't at all. Biggest concern is the quick turn around after an emotional win with travel to NDSU. Liked your stats on past games at home analysis and think it has a bearing on ability to rebound.

This team has IT. Coach B was super intense; OL, DL were intense; Gubrud was able to slow things down in his first big game and on and on... Don't think this game is a coin flip on paper, but if the Eag's can keep their focus, composure and recharge the emotional banks, they will contend and be in a position to win this game. Certainly the fan base is GEEKED up. Go Eags

Well, the very fact that we played great in our opener and WON is a major difference. We've played a lot of BCS teams really strong and lost close ones. You lose those close, emotional games and its hard to get that fire back. Winning helps get that dopamine and seratonin flowing and that takes care of the little aches and bruises. When you play well and lose, you don't get that same payoff.

Playing in Fargo against a Bison team with two weeks rest means NDSU should be a favorite. But this is a winnable game for us.
