FCS National Championship vs. NDSU: Game Day Thread

NDSU Bison are everything to North Dakota! They draw a lot of FBS talent out of the Midwest but once football season is over what to they do in Fargo?? I have some good friends from North Dakota but not too many that still live their. I know know how tough those farm boys are to play football against speaking from experience. Our boys can do it!!! GO EAGS!!!

Part of the fascination with sports for me is when something unlikely occurs and a team exceeds the expectation and wins conferences or championships. Thinking Miracle of Ice, Don Kardong finishing 4th in the Olympics, Nick Foles leading Philly to a SuperBowl victory, a limping Kirk Gibson homering against the best closer in baseball to win a World Series game, Sid Bream sliding home in '91... Damn.

This Eastern team has overcome adversity like no other team in the playoff's this year and has a team of destiny feel to it. Many of us remember the Bo to Kaufman connections that propelled Eastern to a comeback victory in '10 which was played without Taiwan Jones. Eastern may be beat up, be the underdog while playing the titan's of the FCS but it doesn't matter. The Eagles are already winners showing great character and heart. Pulling together and embracing all the challenges already, this is a VERY dangerous team. GoEags!

Why the hell is a championship game starting at 9am? Even on east coast time of 12pm, that seems pretty early when there should be little scheduling conflicts.

Yeah, it seems a little ridiculous to me.

SAT. schedule on ESPN2 Kansas game at 12 pacific time and then Virginia BB games.
They are promoting Kansas game as I am typing this.

Will be at the game, but hoping that ESPN2 doesn't cut our game off to do another game. Eagle finishes should never be cut off even a minute early. Go Eags!

They should play the last part of the Hero Sports podcast in the locker room from now until the game. It's a perfect indication of the "doubt" that is taking place in the minds of many others.

Honestly, I've been understanding of what's been said till then. They said that NDSU is a 10 of 10 in the FCS, and EWU was probably a 7, of which there were several 7's. They both predict EWU to lose by 21 points.

The almost 2 hour podcast is pretty good up to that point, lol.

NDSU doesn't have a monopoly on athletes. The EAGS will go toe-to-toe with them.

No need to spy their QB, just thump him.

On offense take what they give. Eric Barriere just needs to be himself and not force things.

Whelp. Moving my laptop mouse around on my couch to stay "online" while waiting to make the drive up Dallas is about all I'm accomplishing today. I have a real good feeling about tomorrow. Hope everyone who can make it has been warming up their vocal chords and is ready to stand and make noise for four quarters!

Leave no doubt!

We have right on our side. EWU is the good guy in this story. Reflective is our own Ranger and his faithful Indian friend Clawman. A fiery horse with the speed of light, a cloud of dust and a hearty Hi-Yo Silver! The EWU Ranger! ... With his faithful Indian companion Clawman, the daring and resourceful masked rider of the plains led the fight for law and order in Frisco, TX! Nowhere in the pages of history can one find a greater champion of justice! From out of the past come the thundering hoofbeats of the great horse Silver! The Lone Ranger rides again! And we all know the good guys always win.

I think this is a good place for Eastern. Everyone is going to feel this was a successful season regardless of how this game finishes. The Eagles are essentially playing with house money and have nothing to fear in this game.

North Dakota State is damn good and are deserved favorites. But this is a winnable game. If Eastern plays great football, they’ll be in with a shot. I think the first quarter will be huge as both teams work off the dust which is inevitable after three weeks off plus a pair of holidays. It’ll be imperative to start fast or we risk having a game like Oklahoma/Alabama, where for three quarters it was totally even but Oklahoma was so rotten to start the game they were hopelessly behind quickly. NDSU is certainly good enough to put our guys to the sword if we start slow.

One other thing to note... just something that crossed my mind... the one and only upside to all the injuries this year is that a lot of underclassmen have gotten game time. For a Senior-laden team, this sets up well for next year. The fact is everyone who’ll be starting next year has seen and done a lot this year.

Cruised around Frisco And went down to the Star today and met several Eastern Washington fans. Had some really good conversations. It's going to be perfect football weather tomorrow. Any news on what uniforms the team will be wearing? They painted the Eastern End Zone black with white lettering so I'm assuming black Unis tomorrow?

okay it looks like they wore the white tops with red pants for the media day and the endzone just painted the color that the end zone is up at The Inferno. not our sharpest combination I guess team had to dress down so we didn't overshadow the Bison too badly
