It would be very hard for me to imagine Gubrud doesn’t instantly become “the guy” if he goes to Wazzu or Utah. He’s probably one of the best 10 QBs in the country that will likely be on rosters next year.
I was talking to a big WSU booster last week and he said there is some pushback on bringing in another one-year transfer QB. I told him that is understandable, but if it means the difference between being 5-7 and 9-3, it’s a no-brainer. Leach isn’t going to allow his team to get worse if a better option is available.
Guessing you're just trying to get my goat.
This QB is the future IMO at WSU.

Utes two guys don't suck and will thrive going back to a Ludwig offense..
As far as stack ranking all QB's, can we agree that Trevor Lawrence is number 1? If we can't agree on that, anything else said is blather.
Doesn't Utah's starter return this year? I know he was injured, but he's pretty good and would be competition for Gage if he went there. I think Gage starts at Wazzu right away.
I'm still confused on how he gets a 6th year of eligibility? I understand the 1/3 game thing, but he already redshirted and my understanding was you had to miss significant time in a couple years with an injury to be granted a 6th year...
12.8.1.5 Five-Year Rule Waiver. The Committee on Student-Athlete Reinstatement, or its designated committee,
by a two-thirds majority of its members present and voting, may approve waivers of the five-year rule as
it deems appropriate. (Revised: 7/30/10, 7/31/14)
12.8.1.5.1 Waiver Criteria. A waiver of the five-year period of eligibility is designed to provide a studentathlete
with the opportunity to participate in four seasons of intercollegiate competition within a five-year
period. This waiver may be granted, based upon objective evidence, for reasons that are beyond the control
of the student-athlete or the institution, which deprive the student-athlete of the opportunity to participate
for more than one season in his or her sport within the five-year period.
so in order for GG to be eligible he really needs to clear 2 waivers.
1.He needs to get a 5 year eligibility waiver on which he needs to prove that for reasons beyond his control he was deprived of an opportunity to participate in more than one season in football.
2.He also needs to get a medical hardship waiver. He needs to prove that he
-suffered the injury during one of the 4 years of college OR during his senior year of HS
-The injury must be incapacitating and be a "season ending injury"
-Injury must be prior to the second half of the participating season
-Student must not complete 30% of the games played for the season
1. Because he already red shirted...he already has used all 5 years of eligibility...thats why he needs this waiver. This is the hard one in my mind for him to get...I don't see anywhere where he was deprived of a year of football. Unless he's claiming he had to RS in 14 due to a injury...but he was Scout player of the week multiple times I do believe...other than that he played all year every year...15 a place holder...16 starter...17 starter and 18 starter for 33% of games.
2. He meets all these criteria except the last one. he played in 5 of 15 games, that's 33% which is close...but more than 33% and only that close due to the fact EWU had an outstanding year and went to the ship. The NCAA would have to think that its okay to give a player on a great team more privileged than a player on a mediocre team. He is high profile for the FCS, breaking records and being a WP award candidate 2 times....would have been 3. So I can see the NCAA still giving this one away...because it's the NCAA
