What is your best memory of GG?

What disappoints me most are the uncalled for nasty comments I've seen posted here by individuals whom I've previously admired for their insight and conference knowledge. Gage Gubrud's contributions to EWU, teammates, fellow students and fans is monumental. I doubt the EKGs we follow at the NFL could have achieved their levels of college experience fame minus the abilities of Mr. Gubrud. His departure is far different from the motive of Vernon Adams whom we all wished well, or for those who previously departed early for NFL $.
I just write off those comments and think, "small minds think small"
Good Luck Gage, you make us proud.

Good luck young man. If he becomes their starter our program will get that much more respect and acknowledgment. This just adds to much better recruits and lots more Fun Fun Fun for us.
YOU GO GAGE

Him riding the pine & seeing true champion, Eric Barriere, lead EWU to its 2nd title game. Something Gage Gubrud failed at! TWICE!! BLM did it as a junior & EBIII did it as a sophomore fill-in.

“Instead of creating drama at the Qb position...” You mean COMPETITION!! The question is: is Gage Gubrud better than Eric Barriere? The answer is “NO!”

That’s why Gage is transferring, bc if he were the better Qb there’d be no reason to transfer....... RIGHT!?

Gage only transferred because he was afraid of competing for the starting quarterback spot and also (probably) wanted to get a chance to play his home games in a Pac-12 stadium.

My best memory of Gage Gubrud is the touchdown run against the Cougars in 2016, no receivers open, offensive line blocking defensive line to outsides creating an momentarily open corridor at least 5 yards wide, Gage holds for a second (long second for me), then gallops straight ahead to goal line as corridor collapses. Also memory chatting with him at the Inferno fence, several memories of seeing him turn a potential sack into a big gainer, or him catching a wounded duck pass thrown up by a back or receiver. Great Eagle QB!

If he stays healthy, and assuming the couple of receivers WSU were missing last year also wind up healthy, I could easily see Gubrud leading the Pac-12 in passing... and I suspect he'll be very close to leading the whole FBS in passing.
Definitely a possibility.

Just heard on Brock and Salk that Gage broke his ankle. Apparently he'll miss all of Spring. Tough break (no pun intended.)

Poor kid, in the last year if it wasn't bad luck, he'd have none. I still think he's head and shoulders better than anyone on that roster and Leach's system isn't that difficult to learn. I'm still on the side of him leading the Pac12 in passing barring another injury setback.

Terrible.

Lost all EWU respect to pull this “un-honorable” transfer, then got there & broke his ankle!
Looks like that wasn’t such a great move. Eh Ranger? :coffee:

Sure thing HITC. I live outside the box and my complexion has often been shades of egg. Count on Gage starting IF he's healthy. He has the most experience of their QBs, and his PROVEN experience couldn't be better. The fact that Leach wanted him in Pullman is the best proof of Gage's abilities. He does well in the Pac12, and Eastern receives the credit. Soon (times really flying for us OSFs) we'll be speculating on which round he'll be picked, and which team.

I doubt Gage will be drafted at all. Especially after a broken ankle. Was BLM drafted? What about Payton Award winner Erik Meyer? Big Play VA? Has EWU ever had a QB drafted? What about in the last 20 years? Point is, Gage is very good, but his 2018 injury resulted in a different (younger) QB stepping up and leading EWU to the big dance... It costed him in a major way!
Now he transfers to WSU, and if you’re a fan of him as a player you’re happy about that because it’s probably the best of a bad situation, he’ll probably start for a PAC-12 team, but then he breaks his ankle!
Maybe some of you have knowledge that I don’t so I could be wrong, but I think EWU is better off if Gage stays for his 6th year and EB3 sits or shared time as a junior, then EB3 inherits the team in 2020. Thoughts?

HITC: Cool with your "what ifs". Perhaps someone will initiate a subject discussion of WHAT IFs? Not me. You? Could be interesting. What if Vernon Adams had stayed at Eastern and taken The Eagles to Frisco? What if Taiwan Jones had stayed another year at Eastern? Consecutive Friscos then? What if The Eagles had not suffered all the other season ending injuries last year? A win in Frisco? How about Gage Gubrud stays at Eastern and Eric Barriere transfers to WSU? Happy then? Gage gave Eastern Football all he could give during his five years here. Like it or not, that's now history. Wanna cheer Gage on? Buy yourself some Cougar tickets. 'kay, you asked; my thoughts................................ respectfully.

I don’t wanna cheer Gage on. Gage transferred to EWU’s in-state rival, screw Gage. GoEags! :coffee:

You're eating poison and expecting the other to die, brother. Having contempt for him transferring after being beat out by EB3 gets nothing. You don't have to cheer him on, but bad mouthing him is pretty petty.

I for one appreciate all that he contributed during his time at EWU and am looking forward to our next QB.

That “eating poison” quote is for resentment, not contempt. And you failed to cite your source for said quote, because it isn't yours.
Having said that, I don’t have contempt for Gage. EWU Football fans benefit from him being absent, EB3 took the Eagles to the title game and he would have won it had he been playing any other team not named NDSU. On top of that Gage Gubrud broke his ankle! ;) I’ve got nothing to be mad at, others whom have made comments about his guaranteed future success at Washington State have more to be upset at that I do. Those who are fans of Gage Gubrud & his broken ankle are resentful, not EWU Football fans, we’ve got a better Qb & a bright future.... unlike another Qb. :coffee:
