Don't forget Volek as the AD!

An exstention doesn't really matter, they did that because Weber State was after him. This move would make more sense to me then going to Weber. But what do I know!

Wouldn't the contract be reciprocal? Wouldn't there be some kind of buyout, money due required to be paid to SUU if he were to leave early?

The only way i could agree to have Monson is if he agrees to assist ST and shows the PR how to fair catch a football at the 3, lose it i n the lights, have it bounce off the top of his helmet, so the other team can grab it for a TD.

Ain't no way there's a Mooshagian on any staff I head up. I'm MUCH more likely to go after Scott Towne or Jeff Kool as WR Coach....

.....with 4 seconds in the game to win it. :dunce:

Hey now, old Moosh is tearing it up at Ventura JC, so perhaps we could re-hire him as he is now a perfect candidate. Being a successful JC HC and all.

I know that you're sarcastically joking. If that route were taken, maybe the AD admin should look at Tom Craft of Riverside CC. He has DI (FBS) experience as HC and OC. Admittedly, it wasn't a stellar career, but he seems to have turned it around RCC. Maybe he can translate that to the FCS level too. We know Moosh couldn't.

IMO no JC personnel period. JC's are nothing but glorified high schools, totally different environment, challenges than D1. The head coach job starts at approx. $175,000 and a few years in would be over $200,000. For that kind of money (better than most FCS) and the potential that this program/ market has we have a right to be selective. I would like to see candidates with a consistent record of success and responsibility at the FBS or FCS level. If the candidate is a from a D2 program I would at least expect him to be a HC or coordinator and to have had a consistent record of success. The candidate needs to have demonstrated the skill set to fund raise, promote, recruit and be responsible for all phases of the program.
A special emphasis needs to focused on recruiting athletes of good character and the ability to be successful academically. I would rather lose with winners than win with losers. We don't want the program to be represented by felons like we have recently seen at Montana, Poly and some of the other BSC schools.
If the HC job is open we need to get it right this time, no more experiments!

Including JC coaches who have D-I experience, GL? That doesn't make any sense....

If they were worth anything they wouldn't go from D1 to a JC, that's a step backwards. Coaches that have been successful at D1 are in demand at the D1 level.

The Davis coach is the top paid Big Sky coach at $235,000.00. He is in his 2nd year and is 1-6 right now with no FCS wins this year. .

That's a joke too. He was able to transfer what he was making as a assistant at Cal to Davis because it's the same system.
He's was the highest paid coach in the BSC before he even coached his first game as a head coach. They are stuck with him for a 5 years !

I agree. I am done with the whole lets get a JC coach, and everything will be great thought process

Not necessarily. Here are some examples of successful DI coaches not being in demand, Dan Hawkins, Pat Hill, Mario Cristobal and Turner Gil and Karl Dorrell.

Either way, I just threw Craft as a candidate only b/c of the AD's pattern of going after JuCo HCs. He at least has D1 experience. I really hope the AD's office goes a different path this time.

Here are some coaches/coordinators I hope are consider:
Paul Peterson - Hornet OC
Pat Hill - CFB TV analyst
Bob Stitt - D2 HC @ Colo School of Mines
John Wristen - D2 HC @ Colo St, Pueblo
Victor Sta. Cruz - D2 HC @ Azusa Pacific U
Nick Rolovich - OC @ Neveda
David Diaz-Infante - CFB TV analyst

What I find comical is the same people clamoring for a JC coach were the same people deriding Sperbeck (a JC coach) as the worst coach to ever walk the planet. I’m not sure why they think their JC coach will provide a different outcome. When the time comes for a change, if a coaching search isn’t conducted then we will just keep spinning our wheels.

I would gauge Paul Wulff's interest. The Davis native is the offensive coordinator for the University of South Florida Bulls. While he didn't have much success as head coach for the Washington State Cougars, but then neither is Mike Leach, Wulff did a good job at EWU. His teams had great O lines and ran the ball well. Under his tenure, the Eagles went to the NCAA FCS Quarterfinals in 2004, 2007, and made the first round in 2005. Maybe he wants to come home.

Yup. I meant to add Wulff to my list above. He may be out of a job at the end of the season. For the 2nd consecutive season, the bulls have done poorly under Willie Taggert.

From what I understand, Angus McClure has been intensely recruiting California since 2004 when he coached at Nebraska, Buffalo and UCLA. My fellow High School Coaches know him well and like him a lot. Sacramento State needs a Head Coach that will retain a majority of these talented players, especially from Northern California. Just take a look at the history and relationship he has with Eddie Vanderdoes from Placer High School. NorCal High School Coaches want their elite players to play for Angus. Wherever he coaches. He turns these kids into productive men, on and off the field. Go Hornets!
