Is their any requirement that an announcement needs to be made about the interim status changing between now or next year or can both just remain as interim and no announcement made? Know my question might seem silly but just wondering why nothing is being said.

They can remain as interim. The positions will have to be "opened up" to other candidates before they become "permanent" hires.

I really hope he promotes a current D coach to DC or brings in a DC. The good thing is that removing the interim tag provides continuity to the team.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento State and head football coach Jody Sears agreed in principle to a three-year contract extension, it was announced today. The agreement, which will require approval from the California State University Chancellor's office, will make Sears the head coach through the 2017 season.

"I am pleased with the way the 2014 season transpired and the way the football team, and its head coach, performed and represented the University," Sacramento State President Alexander Gonzalez said. "The football program connects the institution to the Sacramento community and the alumni. The feedback from this season has been both positive and supportive of Coach Sears and the direction in which the program is headed."

Sears earned it, he did a phenomenal job in keeping the program headed in the right direction by maintaining unity among the players.

Congratulations Coach Sears, well deserved! Last year had the potential of being a disaster and unraveling our football program. The character of our players, Coach Sears and the other coaches overcame all of the distractions and gave us a entertaining and successful season. Thanks to everyone!

Good news.

Coach Sears earned it indeed.

And thinking this news is the best news for Sac State football now and in the future.

Coach Sears is passionate about Sac State and proved that this seasons and now he has a chance to build the program into a winner from here forward. Best for all of us l to get behind him and for everyone do do what they can to take our Hornet football program to a winning program each year. Coach Sears and his staff has a 7-5 season and a Causeway win into the off season and bring the best recruits to 6,000 J Street.
A great university with a winning football team in 2014 will serve Coach Sears and all our football coaches well during the recruiting season.

Yep I was wrong, but unlike you I can admit that. BTW you trolled me with a PM stating specifically that Sears is only getting one (1) more year and you made a similar statement in this thread, but now you are backpedaling and trying to say otherwise. What gives?
