Injury Bug

Jake Hoffman #17 played most if not all the 4th qtr. He was inches away from a pick on NDSU last drive that would have sealed the deal.

Hoffman will be a capable replacement until Fettig can come back. I thought he was quite good in 2014 but don't remember him playing much last season.

The word on the street is that Kupp's got a dislocated shoulder. Anyone else heard this?

I heard worse...hopefully all these rumors are wrong..

I won't believe a thing until the school says something

The Lord works in mysterious ways. God bless Cooper and all of the young men on this team who are recovering from injuries or otherwise.

To All,
Went out to see the Team return. Team Plane landed about 9:29 p.m. Didn't much of the Players, the Busses were at the Plane, Players got on the Busses. Followed to EWU, Saw Cole Karstetter on Crutches, he stated he was going to get some ice for icing. Think he may be out for the year. Will know more at Coaches Show on Monday at 5:30 p.m. Impulse, Northern Quest. Our Team played their Butts Off. I am still thinking on the two TD the Officials called back. Hate to mention the calling of the game, talk about the Stooges Show, we can be very proud of the Big Sky Officials. Have a great Sunday. Vic Wallace

To All,
I am hoping Cooper Kupp sit out this game. We have the Wide Receivers that can fill in. He need to rest that shoulder, and take it easy. I know how much he loves that Team, and Coaches. The W/Receivers we have can make up for his taking some time off. If I had the job of coaching, I would talk to him. Our team had some lapses against NDSU QB, on those 2 @3 downs in the 4th qt. We need to put this game behind us, and get ready for UNI this weekend. It will be tough not seeing Coop in the Game, he seems to make the game very interesting. I hope none of our injuries are serious. Vic Wallace

Not knowing the injury, I think you could be right. He needs to be at full health for conference play. We've got plenty of weapons. He always makes the team better, but I think we can compete against UNI with the way other receivers are stepping up. The last thing I'd want to see is him ending up with a serious injury that would effect his future.

We may have heard the same thing. PM to follow.

Care to offer any specifics?

PM

Flip me a PM too, if you don't mind. I suspect no news is good news at this point. When Vernon got hurt, Eastern sent our a press release early the next day on his status. While I realize this isn't normally something we do, I'm sure the team would make an announcement for a major player who can potentially be winning awards at the end of the season.

I agree. If he could play, I'm sure he would. But it's better to think about his long term health and future at this point. I'm hoping what I am hearing isn't true and that we'll find out some of the details soon.

Even if Cooper is out indefinitely, I'm still confident in the rest of the offense to produce. They proved on Saturday that they can do that.

We are going to be at the coaches Show tonight at 5:30 p.m., we will find out about our injuries. I watched the game again this am, and couldn't understand some of those calls from the Officials. Proud of the "Big Sky Ref" at present. We must put that game behind us, and prepare for UNI this Saturday on the Red Turf. Pack Roos Field. While watching the game this morning, I did noticed #33 Karstetter on the side lines on his Crutches talking to Players. Lets get ready for Saturday. Vic Wallace

Has anyone heard anything on Kupp or any of the other injuries? I guess we'll know something tonight.

I'm sure it'll come up tonight.

Interesting to note, though, that Eastern's most recent press release (from about 20 minutes ago) has a section called "Records Watch" which notes a number of potential records Cooper Kupp could set against UNI. It makes no mention of an injury.

Hopefully it's nothing to serious. The only good news about his injury is that it appears to be a shoulder. There aren't a lot of shoulder injuries that would require a lot of downtime. The only thing that would require a long time out would be a totally blown rotator. Had that been the injury, I'm sure he wouldn't have tried to play through it--- he wouldn't have been able to move his arm. The next worse thing, and the only other major injury would be a break to the upper arm.

However, most shoulder injuries don't involve bones; far more often, it's ligament and tendon damage.

If it's a collarbone, that's going to require downtime, but not a season-ender. Separated shoulders or minor dislocation means he'd probably miss time, but not a lot unless it was bad enough to require surgery. And if that was the case, it seems unlikely he would've returned to the game after the initial injury.

Just to say it again, this always seems to happen when we play MVC teams in domes. Let's learn from this and stop scheduling these kind of games. If they happen in the playoffs, whatever, no way around that.

Just announced he had a "grade 1 separation" in his shoulder, which is the least serious of the seperations that can take place. No bone damage, but some potential tears or ligament damage. They are saying it is more painful than anything else, but he actually could play, though it would be very painful to do so.

Grade 1: A mild shoulder separation involves a sprain of your AC ligament that does not move your clavicle and looks normal on X-rays.
Grade 2: A more serious injury tears the AC ligament and sprains or slightly tears the CC ligament, putting your clavicle out of alignment to some extent.
Grade 3: The most severe shoulder separation completely tears both your AC and CC ligaments and puts your shoulder joint noticeably out of position.

Hey Dude;
Sounds about as good news as we could expect. Where did you see this announcement?
