Hi, my name is NDSUFREAK and I am a boardaholic.

NDSU had a monster team last year. If they had been eligible for the playoffs, they would have gone far. NDSU will be one of the dominant DI-AA programs. Hopefully, PSU and NDSU can have a rematch of the D-II championship game in the DI-AA championship game.

(or FCS instead of DI-AA)

HensRock here.

I just returned from my first visit to your beautiful state. Did business in Athens. Flew in/out of Portland. It reminds me a lot of my home in central Pennsylvania actually. Except Oregon is much GREENER right now!

Saw PSU play only once. I'm sure it was not their best effort. I'll bet many of you can guess which game that was. http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" smilieid="31" />

Nice site here. Come visit us at GoHens.net. We run a weekly Top 25 FCS Football pool and a Playoff Bracket pool during the season. Just for fun and bragging rights ofcourse!

GO HENS!

I know.

Who had the famous logo first: Michigan or Delaware?

Answer: Princeton

The design dates back to the days of leather helmets and follows the stitching pattern used by one of the manufacturers (Spalding maybe?)

Fritz Crisler coached the Princeton Tigers and decided to paint the panels in contrasting colors (PU Black and Orange) to help his quarterback quickly pick out his own players (all helmets were pretty much brown leather back then) and what direction they were facing.

He took the helmet design to Michigan. David Nelson brough the design from Michigan to Delaware in 1940. Delaware's helmet has had only slight modifications in the shades of blue and gold used ever since then.

Delaware @ Rutgers circa 1962

Nice photo, thanks for that info to, I have always wondered who started it

Glad to oblige.

This is Princeton's helmet BTW:

You still see some schools out east use the design. St. Peter's (a FCS non-scholly in New Jersey) uses a Blue and White version. Several D-II programs use winged helmets as well.

Until just a couple of years ago, Delaware's helmet looked exactly like Michigan's because it was a darker blue.

And to answer an earlier question - sadly - No. I've never been to Wyoming. But I hope to some day.

Those wyoming people, they have some Brokeback issues if you know what I mean

j/k

I've seen the logo everywhere, but to be honest when I see it I think Michigan and Delaware every time, nobody else

I went to Cal Poly for my undergrad but I got my masters at PSU and now live in Portland, so I'm a dual Mustangs/Vikings fan.

I've been to several PSU games, and I for one think PGE Park is a great environment for FCS football. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Poly to come play a game in Portland. It would be hard to decide who to root for, but at least I'd be assured that one of my favorite teams would win!

We're glad to have you as a Viking fan! Cal Poly has it going down there. I've seen photos of the stadium on anygivensaturday.com. It sure looks nice.

NDSU had a national championship team last year. Coach Bohl knows how to put together a footaball team.

The BISON would be a huge stumbling block if you are looking for a second seed or something. If you arent a conferece winner with an auto bid you arent interested in playing NDSU OOC? Is that true?
