Jake Rodgers Dad Medical Emergency.

What a tragic situation for the player and his family, and EWU family. A much needed reminder that its still just a game. I read an article online the Spokane paper by Blanchette .. very well written about the game being a distant 2nd to what happened. Best wishes to the players family and hope for a recovery.

Thank you to all Eagle Nation and also to the Illinois State players and fans for their outpouring of prayers and well wishes to Jake and our family. Jake was very moved by the messages of support - we read them all while we waited during our long vigil in the ICU waiting room. Coach Baldwin & his wife stayed for many hours with us and their support meant so much to Jake and us.

Jake's dad is still critical in ICU - hopefully there will be improvement today. Keep the good thoughts and prayers coming.

God bless you and your family. I will continue to come back and check this board for updates.

Thanks for the update, the game is fun but its nothing compared to the value of human life. Redbird Nation will keep the entire EWU family in our prayers.

tski60,
So happy to hear Jakes Dad is doing much better. His being in ICU, will make us pray much harder. Saw Jake post, I think it is on Facebook? I am not into all those different ways of posting ;) ;) ;) , will stick to our blog :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: God Bless!!!!! Vic Wallace

Haven't had a chance to be on here till now. Wow! Thoughts and prayers and thankfulness sent up. Same thing happened at my place of business the week before, and one of our employees is a member of search and rescue, and administered life saving CPR. It is such a jarring situation, and truly puts things in perspective. Very grateful for the people in the stands willing to step up and take action, and the honorable responses by so many involved. Nothing but the best wishes the Rodgers family, and a speedy and full recovery to your father, Jake!

There were people across this country pulling for him. It was gut wrenching enough and then to announce it was a parent of a player made it even more so. Here's hoping for a strong and speedy recovery.

To All,
Heard on the news last night C2, Jake Rodgers Dad is still in critical condition. I know we are all praying for his full recovery. Hope it is not as serious as it sounds. I know what the heart is all about. I lost my beautiful wife August 17th, 1999, after 44+ years of a long beautiful and loving relationship. I sat at her grave sight at Holy Cross Cemetery for 6 years, w/o missing a day. One day I had to go to Sacred Heart with some heart pains, at which time my Doctor asked me a simple question. "Vic what would Cairlon say to you if she could about coming to the Cemetery everyday? She would have said "Vic" this is not doing you any good, take care of yourself, our 7 children, 12 grand children, and 2 great grand children. Now I still go visit her, but not as often, "Special Dates" Had she lived we would have been married 60 years Jan 14, 2015. 2006 had a Defib installed into my chest, and so far everything is going fine. Saw 2 of my 5 Great Grand Children born, "Thank God". Now you know part of my life story. God Bless All. Jake keep us up on your dad progress. Take Care. Vic

Damn, that touched me deep in the heart. Thank you for sharing this, Vic.

If people can keep us posted, that would be great. I don't want to infringe on their privacy, but when part of the Eagle family goes down, we want to stay informed.

PS- good story Vic! I appreciate the post!

Our prayers are with all of the Roger's family. This really put things in perspective as to what we hold dear.
