Friday at 5 on ESPN. This is easily the biggest game in school history. Keep rolling Cats! Let's go back East and show them how good this team from Ogden, Utah is.

Congrats on the big win last night! Looking forward to a great matchup this Friday evening in Harrisonburg. If anyone is coming in town for the game, Safe Travels. Feel free to reach out if you need food, lodging suggestions or tailgate options. Looking forward to some good discussion this week. Go Dukes!

We have a short prep week and a long flight, presumably to DC, followed by a 2.5 hour bus ride to JMU. It will be a challenge to start fast but we can’t afford a slow start this week.

Just visited JMU fan forum. Talk about east coast arrogance and total lack of respect for Weber. One poster said D2 schools back there would beat Weber or SUU. They think Weber has no athletes, play way slow, and that their defense isn't any good.

I hope their team over looks us too

I watched these guys play a few times. There is no reason to be intimidated at all. Their whole program and school is a bunch of soft primadonnas. Their conference is majorally overrated besides them and New Hamshire. If we play our best game and take a few chances at the right time, we will be in the game. Stoney Brook would have been in the game, if they didn’t shoot themselves in the foot. I’m a believer in this team. I’m not sure we’re going to win but there is no reason to feel like an underdog. If we play our best, we will win!

Well, to be fair, the last two games we've played in the FCS playoffs on the east coast, we've lost by a combined score of 83-14 (38-0 to William & Mary and 45-14 to Chattanooga).

Their comments are mostly from watching last night's game. Let's just say they were less than impressed.

Now our lineman, both offensive and defensive, are small.

They expect to play another "Big Fluffy" team with a high powered offense and no defense to speak of.

Yet just about every one of them admits to knowing next to nothing about us.

Ignorance is bliss unless it comes back to bite you in the a......butt :thumb:

This could turn out to be a defensive struggle. JMU can, obviously, play some D. So can we. This should be an interesting matchup. There is enough film out there that I don't think either team will be able to throw in much new. It's like any other game, prepare and execute. We don't have any common opponents, so there isn't much for a fan to compare. I don't expect that either team will lay down. It's going to be a fight to the end. The winner will earn it. :coffee:

The only chance we will have of winning this game is keeping JMU to 10 points or less. The most points they have given up this season is 14. This is going to take a total team effort. We can't afford to start slow and go -3 in the turnover department. I predict that we win on a last second Tuttle field goal 13-10.

Hoping for a good game. I like our chances in a field position struggle. I don't like our chances if we lose the turnover margin or time of possession. We absolutely cannot afford to fall behind by more than 7 points early.

James Madison is easily the best FCS team that Weber State will have played since playing #1 NDSU in 2014/2015.

We may not win but it's cool that we will get a Chance to see how our boys do against yet another #1.

Hope the short preparation time and long distance travel doesn't negatively affect these guys. They will be up for this game and I am sure are extremely excited.

Win or lose this has been a historic season for Weber State football and I couldn't be more proud of this team and this coaching staff.

Should Weber be intimidated? No.

But James Madison is the reigning champs for a reason. They are good, like stupid good. And the CAA is one of the traditionally stronger conferences in the FCS. (Right now I'd say the Ohio Valley and Southland are weaker than the CAA, Big Sky and MVFC)

I watched that Stony Brook game and JMU's defense was solid, played one of the better defensive games of the round (along with us of course and NDSU, SDSU). But Stony has a decent defense as well which limited JMU's offense. JMU's offense may not be world beaters, but with a defense like they have they don't need to be.

It's gonna be a tough one. And I cant wait to see how our boys perform against the reigning champs.

I think the score is going to be something along the lines of 21-13 Dukes unfortunately, a hard fought defensive slug fest between two very good teams.

The beauty of this game is that all the pressure is on James Madison. No matter the result of this game, this season was an extraordinary success, so Jay Hill has nothing to lose by pulling out all the stops. I expect a lot of trickery, going for it on 4th down, going for 2 on TDs, etc. If we plays our cards right, have a great day on special teams, and we don't turn the ball over, we could pull the upset.

I'm not going to get too mad about some of the comments being made by the James Madison faithful (hey, we already beat you guys in basketball this season). Heaven's basing some of the comments off of the last two times Weber has visited the East Coast in the playoffs (last decade), kinda makes sense. Neither game went very well for the Cats. An absolute ass-kicking at the hands of the Tribe of William and Mary and last season's loss to Chattanooga. Last year, I feel the game was a bit more evenly matched than what the final score indicated. Besides, our team hadn't quite matured yet. They needed that experience to build off of and I thoroughly feel that that loss helped motivate a number of our players to push themselves during the off-season.

As for the other game played 8 years ago. Admittedly, the 2009 contest against W&M wasn't the best showing by Weber State. That team wasn't very tough. An extremely good team, but, and I love him, it was a Mac team that really lacked discipline and toughness. Weber won a lot of games in 09, but three of the losses can be directly due to a lack of focus, discipline and toughness, which I believe the 17' team doesn't suffer from. One of the biggest strengths that this team has going for it, is that it is an extremely tough team. Did I love the 09 team? Oh yeah...I have some very good friends who played on that team and was very proud of what they accomplished. NO matter, I think they were happy to have just made the playoffs, this year, not so much. They are playing for more. It is going to be a battle in Harrisonburg Friday night. Weber is going to bring their A game and really challenge James Madison.

I don't doubt Hill will pull out all the stops, they really don't have anything to loose; however, if sound discipline is part of JMU's defensive strength, too many gadget plays and aggressiveness may backfire. I already knew how limiting they've been on the scoreboard but I just looked at their opponents total offense, averaging 235 pg for the season-- that is pretty lock down. Weber's total offense sits at 403 pg and it's hard to imagine them becoming an offensive juggernaut against such a solid defense.

I think if Weber plays a perfect game they could pull off the huge upset but I'm not sure how likely that is. I hope the arrogance of several of their posters is a common trait with the players and adds to Weber's chances; that could make for a great day for the Wildcats.
