Keep Coach Katz

Get over it. Katz is mediocre at best. In business, it only matters if it was signed.
Mark Orr has every right to renig on a verbal as he was only in the job a short time and I am sure Katz was pressuring him to offer him an extension so that he could get his golden parachute retirement and trying to strike while there was confusion in leadership.

Get real, you think the BOT gives a shit about Katz? They literally have roof's falling in on people because of lack of funding/maintenance. Do you really think they blink about Katz's retirement package?

Wow, we have six degrees of Kevin Bacon trying to coerce Orr into extending Katz. I dont support libtard FB, so cant tell what was posted, but it is pulling straws. Who cares what Bob Williams has to say? Or Katz's wife?

Get a coach who can bring fans in. Will Katz agree to 20+ wins or he is out?

I want a HC who will commit to 20+ wins a season against real D1 teams, no William Jessup, Simpson, Roseville YMCA, Shady Lanes Retirement Village, etc.

Katz has padded his mediocre record with ridiculous 'wins'. He was a stop gap, now it is time to be proactive.

Go Orr, you have my 110% support.

Wow. Just wow.

Edit: I merged the topics since we don't need another one with the same content. Keep all the Katz talk and Nelsen/Orr astroturfing stuff to this thread.

Welcome to D1 athletics. You're assuming the situation from when these supposed verbals between Orr and Katz until now has been static. Things change, minds and decisions change. It happens.

Read the Facebook post. No I am commenting on Brandon Davis and his parents being lied to. Read Bob Williams post then comment. It's why this deserves it's own thread.

Honesty at ANY level is why programs are good or bad. And it looks like over 80 Coaches, ADS, former players, and players parents are agreeing with me.

"ridiculous wins", like Oregon State, Utah, Arizona State? Had Sac State ever beat a Pac 12 school before Katz? Ran the table this year on the Big West schools on the schedule and a WCC school in Pepperdine who paid Sac State to get beat by Sac State.

I know, leave your guy Orr alone. Be careful who you align yourself with. You might not have all the information.

"I am sure Katz was pressuring him to offer him an extension". You would be absolutely incorrect. It was Orr who brought it up to Katz. Feel free to hallucinate at will.

Everybody plays "sisters of the poor" two games a year. How do you think we get the pay for play games each year. Come on, look at any other teams schedule. You've got to have more than this to pick apart.

Not sure if the Board of Regents will care but somebody should. Orr and Nelson should also care. Troy Taylor and all of the other coaches should care if they are trying to recruit student athletes to their program and the AD’s word can’t be trusted. I hear there is an employment attorney involved so both Orr and Nelson better start caring as it could be costly to the University and their jobs. I think their window is closing to fix the mess they created.

That's unfortunate & messy. Not sure why Orr would offer a contract extension twice, relay that to a recruit, and then waffle.

Hopefully its just miscommunication.

If Katz is burning bridges with an employment lawyer, I hope his days are numbered. What a tool if true.
Take it like a man. "Mommy, bad man said I could have another cookie and he wont give me one!"
He could get a job at a state JC, score his retirement and play .423 ball forever.

What is sticking in my craw is he is crying to anybody who will listen. Why not man up, talk to Nelson and Orr and if it doesn't work out, go their separate ways. If he has already had the discussion, then move on.

With Orr in charge ALL Sac St. Coaches through what he has done should look for new jobs. And you are kidding yourself if you think Orr would not fight to save his job.
With his behavior I think Sac St is going to have a hard time getting any recruits especially from California.
No trust after way he lied to a recruit and his family. And thanks to Bob Williams the basketball community now knows about the lies.

Agree with GCM. If Katz got an attorney involved then I don't see this situation getting mended and it's time for both parties to move on. The idea that you can sue your way into a job is absurd and I'm not sure how the program can be successful under those pretenses.

I respect what Katz has done here and have no problem with him being retained, but he is not entitled to a position here if his superiors want to go in a different direction. This is where the whole astroturfing campaign really hurts his case. I'm having a hard time finding any sympathy for him in this situation with the social media campaign that has been orchestrated around this debacle aimed at the University. It just reeks of folks throwing a temper tantrum because they aren't getting their way.
