Either way its Chadron St. They have beaten two BSC teams in the past two years so now people want to justify a loss to them. Losing to Chadron St is unacceptable regardless of how many points the came from behind. Down 29 points in a playoff game says more to me than the comeback.

Shows that you don't know diddly about football. Object is to win the damn game, and if you can come from behind, shows you have guts, and character. Much more impressive than having a 310# offensive line.

LOL!!!! I dont know diddly about football? WOW!!!!!!!!! From the looks of your little picture you dont look like you played much football. What is most shocking to me is how many people on here ar fans of, or stand up for Chadron St. UNC alums and current students, players please understand that losing to Charon St. at home the way we did this past season may be the lowest point in UNC football or UNC athletics period, EVER!!!!! Jars, are you a UNC alumn or some guy that wanted to secretly play at Chadron St? But you are right about one thing guts and character do win games and all those qualities start with a the head coach. I think you know where I am headed with this, and no I dont want Chadron St. coach to replace Dowining. If I am gonna campaign for anyone to replace Downing it would have to be MARTY ENGLISH!!!!!!!

Were you a coach at UNC and if your were when was the last year you coached? It is killing me not knowing!

Chadron finally played a quality D-2 team and the result was as expected. Now there can be no more justifying that loss.

Season finally over for Chadron. Another 12-1 season. Oh well, there is always next year. Not gonna beat anyteam much less a good team like NWMSU with 5 turnovers. Ask Montana State. Looking forward to another CSC vs Big Sky game next year. Can we go 3-0 against the BSC???

If you schedule UNC again then yes you will go 3-0. By the way, good teams cause turnovers.

I agree, good teams usually cause turnovers. And sometimes you don't play your best game when it counts most.

Ok Bears2003, let me ask you why Downing is such a bad coach. Is he just bad at X's and O's? Does he have a hard time motiving his players? What's the deal. I am honestly asking. You think he's a horrible coach and you worked with him so I am asking. What's the deal?

I just thought I would revive this three year old thread because it's interesting to read all the excuses about why we sucked back then and see that nothing has changed. This was right around the time downer (good nickname Blofeld) said "we are a division II team playing a division I schedule." I would have to say three years later, that excuse can no longer be used. So what's the excuse downing?--the only one I can think of is that you have no clue how to coach. I heard him in the post-game show throwing some players under the bus for missing blocks and not executing, but the bottom line is nothing has changed and our "division I" players are not doing any better that the "division II" players from three years ago.

What are the chances Hinrichs would clean house mid-season? I don't care who the interim coach is--anybody would be better!

I'll put this game on both the players AND coaches. The players weren't executing today, especially on special teams.

Yeah it's intersting reading this, back in 2007 we were thinking if we could win 2 or 3 Big Sky games in 2008 we'd be on schedule and how did that work out? Train wreck...

I'll just say what nobody else will, Downing is a loser... whatever he's doing isn't working, there are a million excuses you can use but there are a lot of examples of terrible programs that have turned it around with the right leadership.

We need to clean house. I've said it a million times, there is a CULTURE OF LOSING and until we change the mentality we'll sit here until the end of time saying, oh we are so close, if, if if, we didn't turn that ball over, give up that hail mary, etc, we'd be 4 and 7....

Bullshit, have some standards please...

This program has gone nowhere the last 5 years... we are no better off and it could be argued we are worse off than when Dalton was here.

Let's cut bait, hey what happens if we bring in the best coach in the RMAC, what, we only win 1 or 2 or 3 games???

Hell, a 3 win season would be awesome at this point!!!

But if they keep Downer there is a plus side, I'll have more money in my check book because Blue and Gold club can remove my name from the mailing list if they haven't already.

I hate the name calling blofeld (Downing is a loser), but I guess it's the truth that hurts. I like the fact that Downing has been given a chance to succeed but it hasn't worked. Time to move on to the next phase and bring in a new head coach.

I think Downing has done a nice job in bringing good kids into the program and it's great to see us not on the police blotter every year like the Montana schools. He's a great guy and the players like him. I just wish he could bring better players, especially on the trenches. I know I sound like a broken record but it's failure when we can't recruit big guys who can block. You won't find them in Denver area, you must go out and find them in the mid-west. I know I posted this before, but look at SDSU and NDSU. Small farm kids. SDSU had THREE offensive linemen last year that were invited to NFL camps. There's no reason we can't recruit over the bunnies.
