Montana embarrasses the Big Sky again. (Again).

I'll give a kid a pass on drunken behavior... just like getting saved by Spiderman, "everybody gets one."

But being so out of line you have to get tazed ? That's crossing a line.

This. I had my share of misadventures during my time in Cheney - ask FormerEag - but there's a big difference between tying one on after a win on a Saturday night and doing stupid shit that gets the cops involved. Have fun, but don't be a complete idiot about it and it's not an issue.

Not to defend these fools, there is supposedly a video of this and that the cops were out of line. I sure hope I get to see the video and that there is something juicy on it.

I've been reading some of the posts over on eGrizz and it's astounding to me how some, not all, are so quick to defend the players and condemn the cops (with gusto and not a little hatred). Obviously, we don't know what happened at 2:30 AM when the cops responded to a party with 30-40 people. The witnesses will be highly unreliable due to impairment, bias, or simply the difficulty in observing what happened in a dimly lit setting. What does strike me is that the response of some represents what I perceive as a trend in society to find someone else to blame for problems and in turn refuse to take responsibility. Whether it's a patient that blames the doctor for a bad outcome instead of the disease's progression; a parent that blames the teacher for bad grades but has never looked at their child's homework and let's them watch tv all evening; a crime victim that blames the state instead of the criminal; the criminal that blames the police, society or their upbringing instead of themselves ... the commonality is a refusal to be accountable.

It's time to stop finding someone else to blame, stop making excuses for ourselves and others, and start being the self reliant no nonsense people that can look in the mirror without having to avert our eyes. Rant over!

+1 :clap:

I too have been on eGriz and notice the same trend that it is all the cops fault. They can't see the difference in team rules and breaking the law. If nothing else they violated team rules. On the other hand there was an incident in Odgen a couple of weeks ago in which team rules were broken and McBride suspended 8 players for the next game.
As long as the Griz administration accept the breaking of team rules, they will continue to have violations.
Shit attracts flies and they have a lot of flies.

False. Plenty of good things have happened with the direct assistance of Jagermeister. It's the post 2:00 am Zips runs that get people in trouble.

You do remember a couple of years back when there was 3 WSU players that got caught up in a bunch of legal problems and one of their STAR receivers was the main culprit and WSU made sure he was available for the UM game.

Oh...yeah... That is right. Past problems don't matter unless it is this year.

I am not excusing TJ or Kemp of their problems this year, but to put them above this is ridiculous.

GOD, I do not know why it is soooo difficult to understand. Did these players violate TEAM rules? THAT is the reason they should be held accountable!!!!!
Get a clue!!!

Thing is, I'm not sure that anyone knows whether or not they did actually break team rules. Anyone outside of their athletic department, that is. Right now the whole situation isn't really clear. Is it against team rules to have a party at your personal residence on a Saturday night? I don't know......it may not have been great judgement, but it may not be against team rules, either. Then again, maybe it is.

So, just to play devil's advocate here, let's assume that these two players didn't actually "resist" arrest, and that the cops used excessive force in relation to the situation. And then let's also assume that drinking on a Saturday night isn't against any team rules. Should the players be suspended in that situation? Kind of a tough one.

I do think UM definitely has a problem with kids getting in trouble far too much, but the scenario I described above isn't actually that far fetched for something that would go on in Cheney, is it?

Like I said before, I think it just boils down to players needing to not put themselves in these situations to begin with.

I think you two are closer to agreement on this than you think.

What Kalm said.

Video shows no evidence of excessive use of force
http://missoulian.com/news/local/police-chief-videos-don-t-show-excessive-force-in-arrest/article_0ae09aee-0a17-11e1-bcd0-001cc4c002e0.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Also the Missoulian writing about the "special treatment" that um athletes receive
http://missoulian.com/news/local/university-of-montana-helps-high-profile-athletes-find-top-lawyers/article_ecc13b22-082c-11e1-b291-001cc4c03286.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The excessive force defense was all smoke and mirrors, blame somebody else so they wouldn't get suspended and wait for trial after the season is over, By then Tru will be gone and not get any discipline, Kemp will get "discipline" during spring ball if at all.

Its is actually scary that they do not see the cause and effect in Missoula.

Any team can and will have kids get in trouble, how coaches deal with it will determine the frequency and severity of the incidents

Thank you Beau Baldwin for considering a mans character when recruiting.

"If they've interviewed both sides, they don't need a private investigator," Katherine Redmond, founder of the Colorado-based National Coalition Against Violent Athletes said Thursday.

Really? The "National Coalition Against Violent Athletes?" What an incredibly stupid organization to exist for such a purpose. And this silly bitch is the founder. Nobody advocates rape or drugging someone or whatever, but to somehow exist to persecute athletes is proposterous. Imagine a "National Coalition Against Violent Black People." All you have to do is change the focus to a different group of people (a group with more PC focus) to realize just how hateful such an organization is.
