Dui's, tazing, and now this. It only the 2nd year for their coach and they have had a lot of off the field issues....
Thank you Beau Baldwin for considering a mans character when recruiting.

If you're gonna try and trash a program before all the facts come out, keep up on it and be prepared to eat a little crow:

Welsh said the rumors include University of Montana football players being involved, but he said police have no information backing up that claim and he does not know where that information came from.
"We do not have a report of sexual assault involving Grizzly football players," Welsh said.

Really? The "National Coalition Against Violent Athletes?" What an incredibly stupid organization to exist for such a purpose. And this silly bitch is the founder. Nobody advocates rape or drugging someone or whatever, but to somehow exist to persecute athletes is proposterous. Imagine a "National Coalition Against Violent Black People." All you have to do is change the focus to a different group of people (a group with more PC focus) to realize just how hateful such an organization is.

TOJO,

Not trying to trash a program in any way, just saying, the griz program has been in the news a lot this past year. The DUI or DUI's actually happened, players were actually tazed (even if it may not have been warranted), the Missoulian put out an article which I simply posted, true or not true.

No one wants to see a program go through this, especially in the big sky conference, and whether it is true or not, the griz football team has had a lot of off the field issues this year, at least compared to all the other schools in the conference over the past year.

As per egriz, Montana rb Beau Donaldson arrested last night....this happens in the middle of an on-going campus investigation involving rapes and student-athletes. Not good.

Wow. This is getting down right ridiculous! :ohno:

The coaching staff at UM had better get a handle on things. That brings the total to 8 players in less than a year to be in trouble with the law...

Stitt is being in a tough situation. He can either make an early statement that he does not accept misconduct and lose his best linebacker. OR he can take it easy on the players and have people question how disciplined he keeps his teams.

Young, immature college football players can be really dumb sometimes. This should not be a tough decision for the coach. Suspend them for the first game. It really won't matter if they play against NDSU since the griz will get rolled that game anyway.

 Yeah, I missed the 180 dollar bail bit. Probably petty.

Don't get me wrong. I am not making light of these guys doing something that gets them arrested. There is no excuse for that and they should be disciplined. The UofM "guru" head coach probably didn't have to deal with boneheads like this at Colorado School of Mines. The action this coach takes regarding these two players is important given the past legal issues that were significant enough to make past US Congressman and Montana Higher Education Board of Regents member Pat Williams to say the UofM has recruited thugs. It will be interesting to see how this coach responds.

We've been extremely fortunate to not have to deal with much if this kind of stuff during Baldwin's tenure. But I've got to think that coaching and recruiting play a huge role in that. Both kids that I can remember being arrested the past few years were immediately dismissed from the team. I think that sends a pretty strong message.

RE: the Montana players, the infractions seem pretty minor. But given Montana's significant discipline/legal problems going back to Hauck, it will be really interesting to see what kind of precedent the new coach will set. Perception is reality to a certain extent.

Disorderly conduct does not get you suspended. I could see Stitt (sp?) keeping them out of the first half of the NDSU game, but would be very surprised if he misses any full games.

why not? Just getting arrested warrants at least a one game suspension in my book. You want to play, don't get arrested. Pretty simple.

I doubt many people dislike the Griz as much as I do, but holy crap... what has happened to that program??

This is honestly sad... :ohno:

Damn, they didn't need that. Van Ackerman and Schmaing are huge losses.

I wanted them to be at full strength when we beat them. For that matter, I want every team we've played to go undefeated the rest of the way. For obvious reasons.

MSU falling flat is not helping our resume nor is Poly. They were both expected to be quality wins. PSU obviously helps but we really need the Griz to finish strong and for NAU to beat SUU the last week (after they both lose to us).

I assume this happened a while back? It would be hard to imagine they had time to commit a felony after getting back from Portland last night.
