Montana embarrasses the Big Sky again. (Again).

I assume this happened a while back? It would be hard to imagine they had time to commit a felony after getting back from Portland last night.

Nope, happened early this morning after the team returned home.

While I hate to see these kinds of things happen, watching the meltdown on Egriz is pure comedy gold. ON the same topic, Montana State's board is in meltdown mode as well.

I went to see how Southern Utah fans are enjoying their success, but apparently they don't have fans.

"In case you haven't noticed- and judging by the attendance, you haven't- Southern Utah is undefeated in conference play!" - Harry Doyle (slightly modified)

Everyone on this board needs to take a moment and be thankful for the character of the EWU players.

eGriz is prime entertainment right now.

Might as well merge this with the ongoing several years old thread. :ohno:

On a serious note, this kind of stuff can happen anywhere. It just seems to happen a lot in Missoula.

Not to get on a high horse, but I'm glad that we haven't had to deal with a lot of this kind of stuff at EWU.

innocent until proven and all that, but wtf were these kids thinking putting themselves in that kind of situation??? hate to see this kind of crap happen anywhere, even to the griz.

Felony Burglary? $50K bail? WTF, something went down with those charges and that amount of bail set, WOW.

The Griz program is a $hit storm right now. Plus, the three names listed are three of their best players KVA is probably the best player on their team.

Glad to have the admin, coaches, and players we do. I know this happens to all universities, but as someone said earlier, it sure happens a lot to the Griz!

I have a hunch - no reasons behind it - that Montana will find a way to get these guys back on the field by the time we play them. They'll probably push it down to a misdemeanor and suspend them for one game.

I get the same feeling. The fans are already trying to play it off as not a big deal.

I would put money on it.

You can count on it, if they didn't they wouldn't be Montana

You are so full of crap. 99% of Griz Nation is ready to get the gasoline and pitchforks out and want these guys booted from the team. The other 1% are saying that it may not be as big of a deal as first thought as the county prosecutor keeps pushing the court appearances back to try and figure out what, if any, charges will be imposed. Here is a little more insight to what all occurred so that people can judge for themselves as opposed to the propaganda RJones tries to spread. RJones was one of the first "trolls" over on Egriz talking smack and giving all of you a bad name, like he usually does. Grow up ass hat. It will happen at EWU sometime as well. It's inevitable with kids making bad decisions. RJones will know it when it does.

A home invasion is why they got to a $50k bail. That's pretty awful.

I'll accept there are things that can happen when you have a bunch of college students. The issue will be how Montana handles it. We've had issues, too, and they end in kids being kicked off immediately and permanently. As long as UM handles it thusly, I'd say they are trying to move in the right direction.

I think the people on this board know the Griz have had a history of sweeping things under the rug, and it has given them a bad reputation. I hope the program shows demonstrably that they have learned from the bad PR.

Not to diminish the seriousness, but burglary charges involving 5 college kids, three of which play football seemed suspicious to me. That's not a burglary attempt, that's a heist. "Van Akerman's 5".

Or they were drunk and are stupid.

Only happens every night in a college town.

Still might be worthy of getting tossed from the team though.

Bingo. Just about every single person wants these guys off the team. EWU fans who believe that Griz fans want these guys on the field for the EWU game are full of shit.

As for the 50k bail, that is standard MT law for felony burglary when someone is arrested on a weekend and cannot see a judge for proper bail sentencing. The cops took these guys in on that charge so that was set automatically. The county attorney is now trying to figure out if that is the charge he will bring or a lesser charge based on evidence. The homeowner himself commented "I hope the only charge these kids are found guilty of is being stupid." So the owner isn't getting out the gas and pitchforks, yet, either.

As for punishment, the U of M has a student code of conduct now that dictates all of that. They implemented that after all the drama in the last number of years. There are certain level offenses....level 1, level 2, level 3, etc with appropriate punishments associated with each. Coach Stitt doesn't have a lot of say on the punishment unless it falls on the lower end of those thresholds. That's when he can decide certain punishments. For example, our starting LB was suspended against NDSU to kick off the year becUse he was trying to start fights while drinking out on the town. Stitt suspended him in what was probably the biggest stage of that kid's life (ESPN kickoff, lots of hype, national champs, etc). That move already showed me what Stitt is all about and that kids will be held accountable. Most programs would not suspend a kid over starting a fight (ie look at Illinois St and Copprich....kid sold drugs to cops and no punishment....wow). Whatever punishment these 3 Griz players receive will fit the crime. And I am good with whatever that becomes.

I had an egg salad sandwich for lunch.
