Montana

Considering that Sac State played both Weber and Montana close with one win and one loss and we played Weber close but came up on the short end, I think we will have a really tight game with montana. I think the difference will be how bad our players want the game in the fourth quarter and if they are willing to bleed out of their eyeballs before they submit to the arrogant ones. I really don't care what else happens this season if we can pull off the win so I can read the wailing posts from the distraught fans on egriz. I mean, to lose to the lowly Bears who should have never been allowed in the Big Sky would be the most humiliating defeat they've ever had.

Anyhow, home field advantage will be the difference:

The Bears: 28
The FBS wannabes: 25

has anyone seen montana yet? i'd like to know what they think.
i'm sure our defense will show up and play with bleeding eye's for 60 minutes. they continue to be our heart and sole of this current team. they got beat up a little yesterday, sure. they faced a very good d1 offense too! made good tackles, played a little soft on the corners at times, but did not let up all the way to the end. they will keep us close in any game we have going forward.
harris continues to be a stud at rb! if they are gonna leave orms at qb, harris needs the ball 30+ time a game!
still, they need to make a qb change. i am dissapointed with orms and labato. orms has no touch on his balls, cannot throw to flat, cannot roll out and throw either. labato just straight up sucks! why does coach pete run him out there when we have deen and baca sitting on the sidelines? they both know the 'o' very well. they have looked good in spring and summer. but we put in a back-up from beloved "CU",why? he does not know the O. you can watch deen trying to help him on the sidelines during games, witch i think is very good of him to do. but again why? what is labato offering that the other two are not? oh, i forgot. labato's high school coach was up coach pete's ass all summer. what did he find up there? hmmm. and i think there is some family connection between labato and pete, not sure tho. poitics at this level, thats bull. put your best players out there and test them!
good luck yo the bears this week, we're gonna need it. montana will come in hungry and they'll bring fans too! i hope we're ready, i know the D will be, but i worry about our O. what excuse will we be making for orms next week?

I think Orms should be the starter against Montana. Mr Lippy, I think coach Peterson has been doing this a long time and he knows what he's doing. Orms had a bad game against a very good Michigan State defense. It happens. I thought he would step his game up but QB's will have bad games, even the great ones do. Our offensive line is very inconsistent and we need a QB that will make plays when the line can't perform right. Montana has a very good defense. Orms is the man.

Mr.lippy, iam suprised it took this long for you to show again how little you know about football,ZIP!!!! Your guy is 3rd string for a reason.

Whoa, you need to dial it back a few notches. Yes, Orms had a bad game on Saturday, but there's a reason Michigan State is a Top 25 FBS team, they're pretty damn good. DO still represents our best chance to win at quarterback, don't forget that he was in the top 15 in FCS in pass efficiency before the Michigan State game. You don't bench a guy after one bad game, just ask Jake Locker or Vince Young. The offense will be fine, and we're going to give Montana all they want this week, maybe more.

Sorry Mr Lippy but you are way off base. I believe we are gonna be just fine and we are gonna surprise the shit out of Montana and their big head fans!! Go Bears

I watched the Montana/ Sac St. Game and they looked to be back in form. They might not be as good as they were in in years past, but they're still the Griz. They did lose their starting QB for the season to injuries, but according to some on their message board, their back up was better any way. They run a lot of screens/slip screens, bubble screens to their speedy receivers. Our corners and LB's better watch out. As for their defense, it's lead by former UNC DC Mike Breske. So of course they bring a ton of pressure.

Even if some of you say we're improved (i Don't) we're not as good as Montana, not even close. I wish I could be there but I've got business in Chicago. Buy your tickets now, buy some for your family and friends and have a great homecoming.

Mike Breske sucked ass at UNC! We should have had 4 national championships but his swiss cheese defenses got raped by Northwest Missouri State.

I don't mean to take anything away from our great defensive players that we had back then--it was his schemes that cost us, not the players.

I really think this game could be a turning point for the entire program (one way or another). A win could vault us in contention for a 3rd or 4th place finish which would be a huge improvement and not out of the realm of possibility. A loss (especially a blowout or last second loss) could bring up the ghost of Downing past and send us back to the bottom of the league.

UNC 24 (4 TD's with 4 missed extra points :D )
Montana 20

And to think other Big Sky fans think Griz fans are arrogant. I wonder where that comes from? :D

Your same story every year is about to end--actually it already has with your other two beatdowns! The only reason you beat Sac State was the home cookin that the refs gave you. I watched that Sac game and you don't have anything that resembles consistency on offense. Looks like a bunch of scamperin' around with your QB crappin himself but occasionally getting lucky and making a few big plays. Now that I found out you have Breske as DC, I realize why your "defense" looked so familiar--looks just like the one that got torched back in his UNC days by clearly inferior teams.

I haven't been to a single game during the "coach" downing era, but I'm gonna go this weekend and be one of the hundreds of UNC fans there to watch you get embarrassed by a guy who has a .100 winning percentage. Good luck getting into even the WAC after this weekend. Maybe you should try for the Sunbelt!

Man that chip-on-your-shoulder's so large it must be giving you back problems. And the Sun Belt would be nice, god knows we're used to conferences full of cellar-dwellers by now....

Go ahead and jump on that sinking ship that is the WAC. Cal Poly and UC Davis are good replacements.

chin up bears fans. the griz are not invinsible. here's some reasons to believe:

-they turn the ball over at an alarming rate
-no running game to speak of
-haven't won a road game this year
-defense doesn't stop the run very well
-it's homecoming

while i'm not ready to write them off, this isn't the griz team we've all become accustomed to over the last few years; they're down right now. this team does and will make mistakes(penalties, turnovers). the new quarterback is good, but big and not extremely mobile and playing behind an underachieving offensive line. your d-line might get some licks in. chase reynolds is currently in witness protection, i think.

anyhow, it's not all bad. stranger things have happened. here's to some good home-cookin'! a bear win could really eff up their season.

Not sure about the score but just go read some of the crap over on EGRIZ and you will see why we need to shut Mantana up early! They have absolutely no respect for us as a team, a school or a town and consider us a gnat on the road and their head is getting huge as the WAC discussion grows. I sure hope our Bears are up to the challenge! It could be the perfect storm for us to finally beat them on sat.

Don't worry about the fans over at eat jizz, about 100% of them have no idea what they're talking about. They think that they're going into the SEC just after one year in the WAC.

Anyway back to the game, I think this is the best shot we've ever had to upset Montana. I think that playing Mich St last week actually helped because Montana has always been big and physical. UNC was able to move the ball on a pretty good Mich St D, and stop a decent Mich St O. If it wasn't for Orms horrendous day, UNC might have put some more points on the board. That being said, Orms has to play better than last weekend, which I'm sure he will do. UNC has to come out and establish the run, Montana seems to be having trouble stopping the run. Minimize the mistakes and turnovers, and UNC HAS to capitalize on Montana's mistake, because that's one thing they have been doing lately is turning the ball over.
