Montana

It's a culture of losing, talk big all week and the first sign of adversity pack it in and quit.

In fact they seemed to quit before the game started, like they looked across the field, saw Montana warming up, shit their pants and gave up.

This program is a joke.

What to hell happened to the offense? I expected to get scored against but to only put up 7 points at home?

Anyone watching the Montana State - Sac State game? Sac State scored 35 points in the 3rd quarter and the game is in OT (61-61).

Damn. I really thought we had turned the corner. I still think this is a talented team but we'll just never get a quality win (and definitely not a winning season) as long as downing is at the wheel.

Yeah, I'm looking at the schedule and I agree with Blofeld. There doesn't look like a team we can beat right now. I hope I'm wrong but MAYBE Portland State?

This team lacks fire, confidence, etc. I honestly don't know why either, the talent is there to me a middle of the pack if not more football team in the big sky. They had a bunch of confidence going into this game, but once Montana punched them in the mouth, its like they backed down and said go ahead take this game. Take a look at Sac St, they were down big but managed to come back, where's that with UNC? I know it's big bad Montana, but you can't shit a brick every time you play them. The other thing is, is I don't know if Orms is the guy, he started out good but hasnt played all that great against better teams. I think Baca should get some more time.

The QB play was bad today but the offensive line play was worse. We won't be successful again unless that unit starts playing better. They're horrible.

It was very perdicatble in the early going continued runs on first down up the middle that were continually being stuffed. Receivers not getting open. They got better play calling later in the game but by then it was over. Pretty disappointing.

Here is the very brutal reality, nobody is "the guy" they are all below standard for the most part, OK maybe Askew and Hewitt are decent but the rest could be replaced by the equivilent starter at their position at any other team in the Big Sky and be an upgrade.

No talent and terrible coaching and a losing mentality and culture and you get what you see today.

The crowd was decent but they won't be back, why would they?

We need a HOUSE CLEANING ASAP, until then I have zero confidence. Win a Big Sky game on the road against someone other than Idaho State and then call me.

And the radio annoucers calling out the fans for leaving at halftime, wow, that takes some nerve considering this program averages, what, 1.5 wins per year under the current regime for the last 5 years. Give me a break, no program this terrible gets or deserves huge fan support, pleae name me one that gets that.

As I've said before, a CULTURE OF LOSING can't be overcome and needs a restart from the top down.

I disagree that we don't have the talent, at least at the skill positions. I do think we need to do a better job of recruiting offensive linemen and this goes back to Dalton days. We seem to be locked in at recruiting in CO for everything. I do see the midwestern teams like NDSU and SDSU have success in getting big, talented linemen. Midwestern farm kids from small towns. We should do the same. Keep looking for the QB's, WR, LB's in Denver area and go get the Nebraska, South Dakota farm kids. We have a nice campus, good academics and the best facilities in the conference and a great state to live in. That should be appealing right?

I didn't get to see the game, had to work.

But I looked up these QB stats:

PASSING .. Cmp-Att-Int ... Yds ... TD .. Long ... Sack
Dylan Orms .... 9-18-2 ... 107 ... 0 .... 28 ....... 2
Matt Baca ..... 7-11-0 ... 116 ... 1 .... 51 ....... 3
Seth Lobato .... 1-3-0 ..... 9 .... 0 ......9 ....... 1
Totals ... .... 17-32-2 ... 232 ... 1 .... 51 ....... 6

So what actually happened? Numbers don't ever tell the whole story.

Did Orms start, and if he was pulled, was it injury or lack of competance?
How come Lobato only got 3 attempts? How did Baca look overall? Did Baca come in second, or did Lobato come in when Orms went out, and Baca came in third string?
Why so many sacks?
Seeing them in person, which QB seemed to be most confident, which has most promise for future?

That was tough to take!! When we have a coach that shows no emotion, no fire, does not get in the refs face, then how do we expect the team to have any fire or confidence. I dont know how he is with the team and he seems to be a great guy but on the field he is so freakin vanilla ! We need a coach that can get a team fired up because he cant even get the crowd fired up!! Where is our next coach???

BTW, I find a need to thank the Montana fans who post on here (and talk quite a bit of trash) for not coming on and rubbing it in.

I think we're all too upset that Sac couldn't quite finish MSU off

Orms did get pulled. There's an article on the Tribe pretty much saying that the QB position is up for grabs again. I think it's what should happen, the offense hasn't gotten going the last few games and they need a spark. I thought Baca looked good and should get some more game time. I wound't mind seeing the youngster Deen get in there as well, because of all the high praise in the pre-season.
