NEW OC

okay it was just a roumor that he was hired, but they brought in greg peterson yesterday for an interview, im really hoping that we get him, his resume is very inmpessive and i think he could get the offense heading in the right direction, hopefully the offense can finish among the top in the confrence like the deffense did last year with some new coaching.

Sure would be nice to know who's in the mix so we can give our input.

Any new news? I know both Darnells profiles have been taken down from UNC's website.
I haven't heard anything other than there were a lot of people who applied for the position. My concern would be that if you take too long to hire someone, like a Greg Peterson, they will be snapped up by another program. I think this is a critical hire for UNC Football if they are going to turn it around. And IMO, it needs to be someone who's pretty high profile that the team, alumni and the community can get excited about.

I'm not sure but I'm losing patience. Maybe they've hired someone and they're just figuring salary out. Who knows?

I think we all need to stay the course, and stay positive. It seems the final details are being worked out with a new oc(lets hope its peterson!) and an oline coach from the socal area, no names yet on that one! We all should hope we get peterson here. he's local, knows the landscape we play on, and can truly help this program compete at this level. It sounds like grable applied as well for the oc position, but, it does'nt appear he's the guy.

Jay's probably busting his rear right now with basketball and all there success, so he may be little 'busy',lol
I think good things are coming to unc, and getting back on the winning track. we just all need to be patient.

Hey, what about the f-ing tribune? THEY should be pushing the issue, bunch of sissies!

Whoever it is, he won't be popular a year from now. I saw this on another board some time ago and I believe it's 100% true. That is...there are two certain things in college football.
1. Notre Dame is always over rated
2. Every teams fans hates their offensive coordinator and thinks they can do better.

check out http://www.footballscoop.com they're stating peterson has interviewed here, which we new. maybe we are getting closer to the answer......

Who out there knows anything about another prospective OC who supposedly coached Kyle Orton at Purdue? Who is this guy and what type of offense does he run? Oh yeh, and were the hell is the Tribune on this stuff? Don't they have any investigative reporters? What a poor excuse for a newspaper.

Where did you see that? And yes, the Tribune sucks. I know no one has been hired but the least they can do is give us a heads up on who's applied

I didn't see it I heard it from a pretty good source.

my investigated reseach reveals this, not that the f-ing tribune could'nt do this. uh, ask a few questions, dumb ass'es,lol
blaine bennett , currently the head coach at central washington. been in that position 1 year, hmmm. has ties with downing to purdue days, hmmm. his father currently coaches the tight ends at cwu with him, hmmm. does this sound a little familiar? easy transition?, family ties? 2 for 1 financial savings?........ ok, i'm good with this. as long as we get him in quickly and start moving forward.
and who knows, at this rate i may qualify as a field reporter for the wonderful greeley tribune. so insiders say,lol

Why would Blain Bennett come here? He was coach of the year in D2. I think it would be great but he's probably making more money at CWU. Not to say your full of it, but I would be surprised if this was true.

I didn't see anywhere that Blain Bennett was national coach of the year in D2. I did see this:

"Western Oregon won the 1997 Columbia Football Association championship and earned a berth in the NAIA Tournament, while Bennett was named the CFA Coach of the Year. The Wolves moved to full-fledged NCAA Division II status for the 2000 campaign and posted a 6-5 record."

I'm assuming that the Columbia Football Association was the conference his team played in.

It won't be Peterson. He accepted a job at N.Texas coaching wide-outs, per footballscoop.com

What the hell is going on??????

Just like I said in a previous post on this thread. If you wait too long to hire someone like GP, they get snapped up by another program. In this case it's North Texas. I'm not saying he was the only good prospect for OC but now he's gone. He certainly had experience. Any news on Blaine Bennett? I'd like to know what the hell is taking so long? Get someone good in here and get them signed! If UNC is going to install a new offense don't you think they'd want to start working on it by March 23rd? Just saying!

they may have offered the position to Peterson and he could have declined it. I wouldn't be surprised if UNT pays more for a position coach than we do for a coordinator position.

I just don't get why Blaine Bennett would want to come here. He's HEAD COACH of a very good CWU team. He's probably making double the amount we would offer here. Not to say your lying, but really????

I would say the reason he may want to come here is, like most coaches, he's looking for opportunities to move up. I'm sure eventually he wants to become a D1 head coach and this may be a stepping stone to that. I'm sure that money alone is not the motivating factor. If the opportunity is a good one and helps Bennett achieve his goals then the money issue will take care of itself when he does become a D1 head coach. As it is, if UNC combines what they were paying both Darnell's ($85K) then that probably gets pretty close to what he's making as the head coach of a D2 program.
