Nice catch Beardown. Wow! I'm getting excited already. An offensive line coach who was an all american and played in the nfl for 6 years and an OC who's got tons of experience at the D1 level... This has now got to be one of the better coaching staffs in the BS. Let's hope they can put some fire into the players.

Peterson will bring a pro-style offense to UNC. Meaning get the ball in the studs hands. That stud will be Dylan Orms this year. He's going to be our best player on offense. We'll have lots of weapons on offense this year with the return of Gunn and Brandon Smith too. We just need to work on that O Line! Here's a video of Petersons style of offense when he was at CSU.

Is it really possible that we could have a football team that breaks through and wins some games (say 6 or 7) on the heals of the basketball team doing so well?

Seems too good to be true.

You never know. I think the talent is there but these guys need to be coached up and guys like Peterson will help. Just look at all the games we lost by a TD or less! Coaching might have been the problem in the past. On a side note I like the hire of the new o line coach too. Seems to bring an attitude.

A pro style offense is all I've ever asked for! Ok, maybe not all but it was at the top of my list the last 4 years!

Anyone know how this played out? Middle of last week Peterson was headed to N Texas.
No, and it's a good question. I can only assume that the money was about the same and Peterson wouldn't have to sell his house and move. Plus, at UNC, he gets to be the OC and not just coach receivers.
Would welcome a response from anyone who has more insight on this.

I think you'l be glad to know Bedell was highly regarded by the CU players who I know and theyre sad to see him go, but happy he has the opportunity. Great pick up for the Bears program. The NFL experience is always a plus for recruiting, too.

* Brad Bedell, CU's offensive technical intern for the past three seasons, has accepted a job as the offensive line coach at the University of Northern Colorado.

"We hated to lose him . . . he's been great," Hawkins said of Bedell, a former CU guard who was a first-team All-America selection (1999) by the Football Writers Association and played with four NFL teams.

"He's got his degree finished, he's really worked his way from the ground up here and really proved himself to be a real valuable asset," Hawkins continued. "He's a former Buff and has had a great influence on the O-line.

"I'm happy for him; he's going to be a great coach. Good O-line coaches are hard to find, they really are. They're so integral to what you do."

Great News on both. Having met Bedell personally, hes a great guy, and his experience will benefit our young men tremendously. Peterson will be effective if he's given total control of the offense, which he did NOT have at CSU. Great couple of hires by Scott.

With Peterson: I have friends at UNT and they told me that Todd Dodge at North Texas is in "win now" mode....Scotty might be there too, but I can't speak to that. Having to potentially move now and move again might have soured that for Peterson....

Downing should be in "win now" mode and if not he's a cadaver, 6 wins in 4 years and back to back one year deals if he isn't feeling urgency then he really should sell insurance.

about the o-line, im looking for a couple of guys who were redshirted last year to step up and make an impact, guys like david kraus, and bryce schwindt.

I wouldn't be looking for either one of them to make an impact. Bryce got kicked out of school for the semester and David Kraus is not good at all

What happened with Bryce?

bryce is back on campus, and, full time in school. he just used some bad judgement on some 'supplaments' he was taking and came up dirty. the ncaa 'band' list is pretty tight. you can't even take the majority of the over the counter stuff avaialble at most 'nutrition' stores. the coach'es believe he'll be fine by fall. fight on to to victory bears!

Hey Lippy, which supplements did he use that were banned if you know? And why would that cause him to be expelled by the university and not just suspended from the team? Does the NCAA require expulsion for using a banned substance?
On a football note, where do you see Bryce fitting into the O-line this fall. Would he have been a starter or a backup on the OL for the Bears? Will he be in the rotation for the fall if he can't participate in spring ball?
