New Staff?

Why hasn't the DC been announced? What is causing the hold up? I was pretty excited to have Sears join the program, and I hope he is still going to.

Jason Belford is the D-line coach.

The Complete Staff:

Head Coach/Special Teams - John L. Smith

Offensive Coordinator/Running Backs - Matt Hammer

Quarterbacks - Justin Rascati

Wide Receivers - Craig Stutzmann

Tight Ends - Ted Stanley

Offensive Line - Cecil Thomas

Defensive Coordinator/Safeties - Jody Sears

Cornerbacks - Eric Lewis

Linebackers - Colton Swan

Defensive Line - Jason Belford

I had heard reports in the past, but after attending today's scrimmage, I was quite disgusted by the offensive (yes, his title of OFFENSIVE does fit the billing) line coach, :-( and to think he was holding back because of the children in attendance :wall: It's his lifestyle, but Cecil is quite an embarrassment to the University. IMO.

:+1: :agree: :+1: :agree: :+1: :agree:

heard he was Bovee's boy....that's why he's there.

also heard that before the PSU game, Mac asked to have the last year on his contract back, that he made a hasty decision after getting hurt. Bovee said no, Mac just wanted to finish out his contract, the team did not do any worse than projected but Bovee cut his line........I felt sick after hearing that :wall: :wall: :wall:

I was at the scrimmage and heard the O line coach shouting instructions to the line. I heard him correcting their mistakes. He has a loud voice and he was very vocal and enthusiastic. However, I didn't hear anything that was offensive or derogatory. I also heard John l getting after some kids who made mistakes. I don't find that offensive at all. D1 sports can be a stressful environment and their needs to be a high level of accountability by coaches and players. The intensity is going to be high and people may get yelled at. I'm sure that there are some who cann't handle that, and they will be weeded out or changed, what ever the case may be. What I saw on Saturday was John L and his staff coaching enthusiastically, and raising the level of intensity to the level it should be.

I also saw coach Mac there, and he seemed to be pleased with what was going on. It's easy to start or repeat an unfounded rumor. Somebody said this or somebody said that. What is your point? Is it that you are a much better coach and should have that job? Or that you have a friend who didn't get the job and you are mad about it? Is it just that you hate the program and want to see it fail? Seriosly, what is up with this BS. :yikes:

That's what I thought. :wtf:

Last I checked, Mac stepped down from the job and did not ask to stay on as an assistant. He has a job with the Blaze and is quite happy with everything. When he stepped down, he knew that the new coach would hire his own staff and he didn't want to interfere with that. He supports John L and John L supports him. John L has consulted him on players and staff. There is no animosity between them.

You are trying to fabricate something that doesn't exist and promote something that is never going to happen.

It's OK to make observations and express your opinion. However, when you start spewing BS, I will have to call you on it. I still love ya, baby. :thumb:

it came from a very reputable source, but it is what it is. that would explain why Mac didn't pack up his office, maybe not. Coach Mac was there because he still cares for his recruits and the program

Comments like this always kill me, ALL coaches swear! Even Bronco F Mendenhall down at BYU. Honestly you cant tell me that you were shocked to hear swearing at a football scrimmage, practice, game , etc.. IF you don't want to hear swearing then don't sit down near the sidelines of any game.

Agreed. WTF do you expect when watching a scrimmage? That's just how coaches do it. It's not unique to Cecil. If 'anewfan' thinks Cecil is bad, I wonder what he'd think of Coach Klune. Hahaha....

Klune was classic, but Gerke.....he was a legend. He'd do football camps in shorts, no shirt, no shoes, and do D line drill with the players. Total nut case, loved him, but boy could that guy throw it down with the best of them......

Wow! Sorry to stir up the pot. I wasn't talking about swearing in general, HELL, I can handle that and especially in practice, and definitely a game. In the tribune, I read that John L. wanted all the coaches to let the kids know they loved them. Gettin on a kid's ass is just fine - it gets them tough. I just don't think calling the kids on the offensive line mother f.....s fits the bill. Maybe that is why one of the OL quit-not because of the swearing, unless he was a wimp, but because maybe he was showing his love to the coach by calling him a mother f..... and he didn't appreciate it.
