Next seasons OOC - Texas Tech & Boston College

I know I've taken some shots at Bovee for the scheduling woes, but where'swaldo is right. Bovee was put in a really rough spot. He was stuck in a department full of idiots, and told to make gold out of straw.

Also, Weber better be getting a shiz load of cash for these games.
If I'm correct, Bovee was already part of the "department full of idiots". That's the problem I've got with it. Did Weber even conduct a search for a new AD, or did they just offer it up to the least idiot already in the department? Nothing is going to change until people with new ways of thinking are brought in. And as far as Weber "getting a shiz load of cash for these games," No shit! That's the only reason these games are scheduled.

If recruiting and consistencey is a care then you would think getting in the playoffs every year would do more for us than playing a 2nd FBS game. As for budget requirements...I was told Graybeal will be raising money for WSU athletics and we could also have our marketing department help out too.

It's a good point about the DII school not counting toward wins especially in an 11 game season with the FBS schools on tap, but the third OOC game still seems to be up in the air. I'm sure that if they can get a FCS team that is "highly beatable", they would stop thinking about a DII team but who knows. Giving auto bids to conferences like the Big West would be a total waste.

I think Nakamura & Wilcox getting their year back will be huge in WSU success next year. Bo Bolen going on his mission is going to hurt, but remember Justin White... He's still around. I hear he's fit and working out. He'll be back for spring drills and I think he's going to explode onto the scene next year. Ive also heard (very speculative that a valuable senior receiver (not toone) is in the process of getting an extra year of eligibility for 2011, which would be huge as well. But first... Cal Poly!

Regarding playoff expansion I was under the impression the 4 new spots were for current FCS conferences that don't already have auto-bids. I don't think this will free up more at-large bids.

There are a bunch of conferences that dont have an autobid.
The Northeast and Big South will get autos, making 10 autos and 10 at-large.

Did you learn how to do that from the UTAH STATE forum?? Nice, I was thinking of doing that too.

FCS teams have already made their schedules, and I think its is as much SUU's fault as its our fault why we aren't playing each other. SUU thinks that Weber blocked their entry into the Sky. I doubt that, and also, its about money. SUU wants Weber to pay them to play either home or away. Besides, FCS road games are expensive. Weber would have to pay expenses. Road FBS games are paid for by the home team (FBS team).

Great West. Big West doesn't play football. And the reason Great West doesn't get an auto is because they don't have enough teams.

Also there is another stud WR on campus already and word is he is ready to go for next season.

Yeah.. there is a great chance that Joe will be back next year. I hope Nak gets a medical hardship. I don't know about Wilcox. He doesn't seem to excited. I heard that Cameron M. could get another year to. Is that true?

I have no clue what you are talking about.

It is our turn to go to SUU. I would be willing to bet there isn't much money involved between the SUU/WSU game each year.

We blocked their entry to the Sky? When? Where did that come from. That is very random to say.

Who said SUU wants WSU to pay to go to Cedar?

The home team always pays at any level, why would you say WSU is supposed to pay? Where did this info come from that I am dis'ing because of the fact that it makes no sense?

I couldn't agree more. Making the playoffs every year is the best way of improving recruiting, fan excitement, and the program as a whole.

Oh, i'm pretty sure you do know what I am talking about, "Selective Memory?" Anyway, I was told last spring by someone in the dpartment that the reason we aren't playing SUU is that they want us to pay them. I suspect, that we want them to come up to Ogden, but don't want to pay them anything. Also, I have heard that SUU is mad at Weber because they think we blocked their entry into the sky, that comes from a prof in CEDAR. I've always been under the impression that Weber did everything they could to get in and that SUU was blocked by the Montanas. Also, if you ever took the time to read a full post maybe things would make more sense to you.

Well if it's so obvious, why doesn't the Athletic Department get it?

I am upset at the lack of leadership, too, but let us not get so cranky that we forget to count our many blessings.

Mac is a blessing, my fellow bloggers on this site are blessings, our abundance of excellent players are blessings, the campus is a blessing... We have so much to brag about and be thankful for at WSU!!

Weber State, Weber State, Great! Great! Great!

clearly i can see its not alternating back and forth every year, maybe this means suu cant afford to host us or doesn't want to host us. i'd like to hear from where'swaldo, ive had enuf of someone elses guesses.

Should be pretty straight forward. To schedule an FCS home-and-home and keep a minimum number of five home games while avoiding a DII contest, we need to schedule two out of conference FCS games per year, so that one can be home and the other away. The third OOC game can be an FBS money game on normal years, and on 12-game years we can schedule two FBS money games, but that would require a five year plan. I am guessing that the government bureaucrats do not have the discipline or foresight to think past the very next budget cycle, so we get stuck in these short term compromises.

Eastman will be back for a FULL season, enough cheap shots for a lifetime. He looks besides himself when he can't play. Also, we have some great redshirt players sitting in the wings......Wildcats will be just fine!
