Playoffs??? Playoffs???

Week 11 Big Sky Power Rankings

1. Eastern Washington
2. North Dakota
3. Weber State
4. Cal Poly
5. Northern Arizona
6. Northern Colorado
7. Montana
8. Southern Utah
9. Portland State
10. Idaho State
11. Sacramento State
12. Montana State
13. UC Davis

...

Final Thoughts and Hot Takes

– Four teams headed into the final week of the regular season fighting for one or two playoff spots. Something will have to give between Montana, Cal Poly, Weber State, and Northern Colorado.

– My prediction for the playoffs: Eastern Washington, North Dakota, Montana, Cal Poly are in.

Biased but probably realistic. Montana will guarantee more $ to host a game than WSU.

It is a sad but undeniable truth that we as Weber fans should not be surprised to see Montana leap frog us into the playoffs. It's too bad the world works that way and teams are rewarded for finishing their conference record at 500, but that's just the way it is.

 Sad but realistic, if it comes down to Weber St. vs. Montana, the selection committee is going to look at the history & potential attendance: gee...do we choose 25K+ (even in a snow storm & $$$) or maybe 10K in mild/dry weather, (maybe 5K on a stormy day & $)? Easy pick, I think. Anyone disagree & want to guess a different attendance for it at Stewart Stadium??

Last year, SUU-Cedar City lost out on a bid to host the first game, even as "BSC Champions" because it's bid was no where as attractive as say, Sam Houston, etc. Even the former BSC commish complained about it. (Oh! Yes, Montana got to host a first round game....and won!)

So...I'm saying for this Sat., GO WILDCATS & GO BOBCATS !! :thumb:

Weber better get in the playoffs with a win over Idaho State I have been looking at the playoff projections and just about all of them have Cal Poly in the playoffs and not Weber that better not happen that would be a crime in my opinion. Also I hope Montana State beats Montana Saturday that is the only way I see them keeping Montana out of the playoffs Lord knows they don't deserve it even with a win Saturday

Eastern Washington has tied North Dakota for 1st place BSC with a win vs. Portland St.

With 6 min to halftime, Montana St is leading Montana 14-7 :thumb: (there's still hope)

When is the playoff bracket announced?

Reminds me of my freshman year at Weber going down to the Marriott to see if we made the playoffs.

Here's to hoping the seniors get one more opportunity to suit up!

Tomorrow morning at 9

4 Big Sky teams qualified for the playoffs: Eastern Washington, North Dakota (tied for 1st), Weber State (3rd), Cal Poly (tied for 4th with SUU but has 7 overall wins, SUU has 6). Will the playoff committee pick 2, 3 or 4 from the BSC? SE article said that the committee has placed teams according to their standings in conference since 2005, but in 2005 selected Montana over Montana St where UM was below MSU in standings but ranked higher in the FCS ratings. Cal Poly has been ranked, so not only is it a question of how many get invited, but also will it be according to the rankings instead of the conference standings.

Didn't help Wildcats case that it was a close win over lowly Idaho St.

So...should be interesting, depends on the national picture, such as SOS, FCS ratings, etc. As 'wildkyle' posted, tune in at 9am Sunday to ESPNU for the announcement :coffee:

Do you guys think Weber will put in a bid for a home game? I'm assuming were in because the Big Sky deserves 4 teams. Even if we only get 3, were in over Caly Poly. They have not won a single conference game against an opponent with a winning conference record. Plus we beat them head to head! I don't remember us ever hosting a game. Now is a good time to see how the community will respond. I'll do everything I can to promote!

In the November ask the Ad Bovee said Weber already submitted a bid for a home game should we make it. Time will tell now

Maybe they'll get to play home to San Diego who won the Pioneer

Unless they only take two teams from the conference, it will be blatantly unfair to take Poly over Weber, no matter where Poly is ranked. Weber has the better conference record and soundly defeated them.

:thumb: Weber St. vs Chattanooga in the first round!!!

All 4 teams got in from the BSC, with EWU #2 seed & UND #7 seed & first round byes.

Not surprised that it is a away game considering all things, & probably correct to say committee picked Cal Poly before Weber St.

GREAT to see the Wildcats back in the playoffs!!! :thumb:
