Recruiting...

Spartan, is there any reason for the language? This is becoming a drama board instead of a fun conversation board. good luck, I'm out. I will keep rooting for the Bengals though.

can we get back to this thread's title now...and hear about any news on ISU's recruiting....

How many recruits gave their verbal commitments this past weekend? I understand there were 2 wide receivers and 3 offensive linemen visiting ISU over the weekend.

I understand that OL Chase Collins from Spokane Mead visited and may have verbaled.

Looks like coach Kramer is still interested in some JUCO players for the 2013 season as he offered Travis Zimmerman as a OL.

Good to hear that Cole Robinson gave his verbal as a wide receiver.

New committ Dominic Toliver

Brent Koetter played both I think

Brent started out as a basketball signee and played that as a freshmen, then went out for the football team and gave up basketball. Which was a great choice for him, I think, as he was an academic all-american in football -- and turned into a pretty good high school football coach later on.

Thanks for the clarification. I knew there was something going on there. I was thinking he played both sports one year. Who recruited him Botan(sp)? I don't know if he played safety or corner but a solid player. In my opinion better than Dirk.

Brent was recruited by Lynn Archibald in 1980. He played one year of basketball, then went out for football in the spring. He played safety for Kragthorpe and his dad and was an excellent player. He graduated with his master's degreee after his senior season.

How many players have signed and / or given their verbal commitments thus far? How many scholarships are available for the 2013 season?

Most of your questions are answered here:

The only kids that can sign are the JC kids that did so in the early signing period. Everything else at this point is a verbal commitment and they are non-binding. Wednesday, February 6th is the day that they can sign letters of intent.
