Does anyone have any reports of who we are looking at for our new recruits? I hope we get some good O-linemen. That appears to be where the action is in getting a good team together. Most running backs and quarter backs are only as good as their line. I think we are OK in the quarterbacks for a few years and it seems that we always find some good receivers and linebackers, but both sides of the line seem to be a little weak.

You can go to rivals.com and click on football recruiting near the top of the page. You'll get a drop down list; click recruit search. On the page that's brought up put Northern Colorado in the "school" drop down list. You'll then see a list of UNC prospects. If you click on the prospect's name it will tell you whether they've been offered by UNC.

First post here on your board, but I was checking out UNC as someone I know might be joining the football team. If he does, I'll have to get familiar with all things about your team as I plan to be a big fan.

Lexington Smith, he is all-state honorable mention for past two years.
6'4 and 265 lbs, played both offense and defense for Denver East High School. He says he wants to be a Defensive Tackle in college, but is open to quite a few positions. As you can see on his highlight tapes, he plays everywhere.

Lex told me that he was contacted by the UNC coaches and invited up to Greeley for a visit later this month (January.)

If he becomes a UNC bear, I think you've got a steal. He's really good and he's a BEAST.

Here are some of his highlight videos:

Here are his profiles on Scout http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&nid=4183384
and Rivals http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Lexington-Smith-92780 .

Not a single response?

I thought there might be a tiny bubble of excitement about Lex looking at UNC. Thought that was the kind of scoop that might be of interest.

:D

Well, I'll still buy a sweatshirt, season tickets and start rooting for the Bears if Lex joins your team. Get ready to start winning again.

I hope he does come to UNC. Scott's a good recruiter but he's surrounded by not-so good coaches. Here's to the future!

Hope he does come to UNC, definitely need some size like that, especially on the O-Line. He probably could come in and compete for a starting job right away, as they are a little thin at the OL position.

I don't know what other schools he is looking at, but I have some good news I think.

Coach Deti visited him at school today and Lex has an official visit scheduled for Jan. 30th.

Interesting, looking at our recruits on rivals and there are 5 or 6 with us going against Eastern Washington, it seems as though they are hitting Colorado hard.

I found the place on Rivals where you can see who expressed an interest in UNC, but where do you find commits?

Or do you know of any at this point?

I think the only one that has committed is Austin Wilbers, a TE from Creek. As signing day inches closer, we will see more and more commits.

Lex and other recruits are probably getting a good look at the new facilities. They'll really like what were doing over at Butler with the new locker rooms and new weight room! Fasterthanyou, you'll have to let us know how Lex likes the new digs going up. I'm sure this will help us with recruiting, but we all know the key seller in getting recruits here is winning.

Will let you know how he likes the visit.
Actually, one of the things he liked about UNC was the travel schedule. He wants to see other places outside Colorado and the bears are going to interesting places next year and beyond.

goes to my theory that you can never tell why a recruit makes a decision for a place, they all have different reasons.

yep, looks like a nice pick up. We need those linemen! On a side note, the new board design looks sweet! Nice job Chris (or whoever did it)!
