Scoreboard

Scoreboard is coming along very well. Went out last night to see the progress, all panels are up, just the filling in with the appropriate boards for completion. Students had some activities going on on Roos Field, everything look great with the lights on. Supposed to be completed on Tuesday 25th. I am very impressed with the progress. Vic Wallace

The scoreboard measures 405 square feet, less than one-third the size of Washington State’s and less than half that of Montana’s. On the other hand, it ranks sixth in the Big Sky Conference and 23rd among Football Championship Subdivision schools, most of which don’t have a video scoreboard.

....The issue isn’t size. It’s proportion and cost-effectiveness, said Chaves, who said that a higher-quality screen and improved sound system will more than make up for the smaller size.

“To go from a scoreboard that was built in the ’80s to this, that’s a tremendous leap for us,” he said.

Fresh from a trip to Ogden, Utah, Chaves compared the scoreboard with the one at Weber State, which measures 497 square feet but is six years old in an industry that evolves almost daily.

“Our resolution will be twice as good,” Chaves said.

Keep in mind re: size that WSU has one single-panel that has to display all aspects of the game on the board, including down, distance, timeouts, etc. Eastern has separate panels to accommodate all this information, so the video board will be exclusive to coverage of the game. Comparing it apples-to-apples really isn't fair.

Frankly, I think our's is pretty damn nice. Coupled with a really nice press box. Sure would be nice to get the new seats on the East side. Then we'd have ourselves a stadium.
