The Big Suck

Some really good wins by the conference. Notice, they all happened on neutral or on our conference mates home court (SAC!! You lost to Davis? What can you tell us about Davis? We get them on Thursday). Love seeing the Orals get beat. big win by Idaho against SDSU and Eastern beating Bryant is huge.

Are you being sarcastic? If not, why would beating Bryant huge?

Yes...somewhat.

But, it is HUGE just in the fact that the Big Sky took care of business and won a DI game on one of its home courts. Taking care of business when we should. Beating any DI's right now is huge for the conference. That is how sad things have become in this pond.

Watch out for MSU. They have been most impressive thus far in wins (2) and beating the spread (3-1). Montana has really disappointed.

SDSU is a far different team than we saw last year. I hope we can avoid some of the same struggles next year as we lose veteran shooting.

But I will say that we should be happy for any D1 win period. It was looking like we were going to have the conference OOC record ever. I think Davis is a little better than I originally thought.

Hey, the BSC is nearing 25% success rate! Results are ^, but will it reach 50% by conference season?? Doubt it...thanks for the updates SWeberCat02. :coffee:

KenPom has Big Sky as 27th-rated league, ahead of Southland, Big South, Northeast, SWAC and MEAC. BSC is just .26 point behind American East.

Does that mean the WAC is rated above the BCS... :wall: :ohno:

I think we are now officially in the worst "league" west of the Mississippi. WOW.... And our goal as a program is to win this "league" and only that? Man, it must suck to be Idaho St. or however finishes last this year, as they would be the worst team in the west.. Big Sky is terrible.

The Big Sky is competing against three mid-major leagues that don't have football. Those leagues can put more emphasis and money into basketball. For the WCC, WAC, and Big West Men's Basketball is the most important sport. It is their money maker and their membership really puts a great deal of emphasis into procuring a solid result. In the Sky, as has been stated before, we are one of the top in FCS. Most of the members of our league are going to put most of their emphasis on football first. That's a fact. Next scheduling is huge and so is funding. Some of the programs need to make money, which means we can't get home games and we need to play a lot of guaranteed games. This usually means a loss. The Sky's best chance to raise its RPI is to take care of opponents when they get them on their home floors and winning as many neutral court games as possible. What really hurt is when Weber losses to teams like Pepperdine. It doesn't help when the league leaders lose games to teams they shouldn't.

I really wish that the NCAA would bring back the Bracket Buster. Gets a home and home and can potentially help out the top teams a lot.

Yes Tal, and because we have football, our league is dead last in the west. What can be done to help this? Should the Bigger Sky split into two divisions?

Fan...I don't know. Only way a conference can improve overall RPI is to win games. Personally, I don't feel comfortably pointing my finger at other programs in the Sky and saying they are the reason why our RPI sucks, when Weber doesn't take care of business when they should. Even in a bad conference the Cats can improve their overall station. Win... No more WTF losses and just win.

MSU hung with Utah last night, even winning the 2nd half. Like I've already said, watch out for the Bobs. They have 3 D1 wins and have been in all 3 of their losses (Wash St, Rice, and Utah).

Standings (D1 games only)

E Wash 4-2
MSU 3-3
Idaho 2-3
UND 1-2
PSU 1-3
WSU 1-4
UNC 1-5
NAU 1-6
ISU 1-6
UM 1-6
SUU 0-5
