Tournament match-ups set

Brings me to ask the question: Is the Big Sky stronger or weaker overall this year???
Just my opinion, obviously, but I say the Big Sky is stronger overall but Weber and the Griz are weaker this year. That is scary since I think Weber and UM were pretty evenly matched last year and if both are weaker this year, what would a Syracuse do to a Weber team that is weaker than last year's UM team and doesn't handle pressure well? I may be more nervous about that prospect than the BSC tourney.

I agree with much of what Baller stated and, wow, would Rahe and Coach A seemingly make a powerful dynamic duo.

We shouldn't feel as nervous about our chances as we do with the talent on the team, the tourney being hosted at the DEC, and 2 nights vs 3 for the other teams. However, Kiltman coined the perfect, simple statement to summarize this teams struggles (for 3-4 years now): Weber has shown that they struggle when the team feels pressure. Every BSC team is fully aware of Weber's achilles heel and predictability. I hope that doesn't somewhat neutralize the advantages of hosting.

I am scared to death of the NCAA's… whoever represents the Big Sky (including Weber & Montana) will probably get bitch-slapped. Just more fuel on the "Big Sky Sucks" bonfire. I just hope if Weber makes it to NCAA that they will play their best game of the year and keep it respectable. Without that effort it will be a major embarrassment...

Weber has the talent to make it respectable. But we will see what happens and how they play. Depends on if that talent shows up or not. Major issue for most of the season.

Depends on who the draw is. I'd much rather see the Big Sky representative play against Witchita State than one of the other projected 1 seeds. Looking back at the Griz's history in the NCAA anyway we've done much much better against teams that were from closer to home like New Mexico, Washington and of course Nevada for example.

I think part of that has to do with those teams seeming to be more "normal". By normal I mean beatable, not loaded with 1st round draft picks and teams that we've played before. Hell, it wasn't THAT long ago that we regularly beat Washington and were in a conference with Nevada. It makes them seem more human than a team like Kentucky, Kansas or Syracuse. Witchita State would kind of fall into that "human" category due to them being a mid-major team.

Could be wrong on that of course... And who knows, the big dogs are capable of shitty games too. Hell... Villanova has blown up my bracket many many years because of them getting upset when they had a great seed... Maybe I should be hoping the Big Sky team plays Villanova, so then I'll pick Villanova and watch them choke again :P

baller;

If you put Randy and Ron together you would have a coach K, and I don't mean the one in SLC. I'm not sure that the two egos could co-exist, but it is interesting to think about. :ugeek:

 For sure, I have to say it is interesting to dream about.

'baller' states it clear & concise on the "scared to death" about NCAA tourney prospects, my feelings exactly, but can't say it as well.

Here's a question:
pretty sure I won't be attending all 3 on Thursday. How would you rank the 3 games in terms of interest?
I'm thinking
1. NAU v NC
2. ND v Sac St
3. Mont V PSU

I think Sac St is the only team we can count on losing. I would put Mt vs PSU as the highest interest and NAU vs NoCo 2nd.

Sac state will not lose :coffee: :coffee: Sorry dude, but you are completely wrong on this one. :coffee: :coffee:

For once, OK maybe more than once, I agree with hater. I also think that Sac will win this one.

NAU will win, as will PSU. :stir:

UM is too butt hurt, from not getting any major recognition in the picks and falling to 4th place, to amount to much. They will take a quick exit and start thinking about building for next year. Next year Jamar will be playing in Europe and thinking about how he is going to get his last two years of schooling to get his degree.

I sure hope he graduates and makes his millions. :coffee: :coffee:

The only prediction I'm making is Sac out 1st round. I'm sticking with it even if y'all think I'm wrong. And in the unlikely situation that I am, I'll buy bengalhater a pitcher of beer...
Then drink it because he can't!

Buy 'hater' a Mtn Dew at least! You're not the only one, I agree with you on Sac St. Jon (bigskybasketball) is providing interesting analysis on each game with some good insight...his picks so far (and not by a wide margin by the way) are UNC & UND...& by prediction for tomorrow, he'll pick UM? ;-)

Nau will probably lose. ND will win. UM will win. Weber will play N Colorado and probably win. UM will not shoot 29% and beat ND . Then weber will most likely beat the griz on the fact they only played one game and um played two. And its tough to beat weber at home. Weber wins by 10-15 I think. Then weber gets blown out as a 16. However might win the round one game if forced to play in one.

The beer puts me in a win-win situation. :-D

NAU is hot right now. We could very likely see them in the semis against UND.

I don't think any team winning in this conference would surprise me. Even a Weber loss in the semis... :o Yeah, I said it. This thing is up for grabs. We could see an over-confident team or a group of individual players that seem lost on the court, and blow it. I'm just hoping the 'Cats we see will be the team that wants to be up by 20 at the half and 35 at the buzzer.
