I can't say I see how your conclusion that this will be competitive follows from your premises. EWU beat a #25 team in 2013 (while surrendering 46 points), lost a competitive game to a shaky WSU in 2012, and beat a bad Idaho team the same year --> therefore this will be a competitive game vs an Oregon team that played for a national title at the highest level last year.
.
This is a terrible argument. You are ripping us for games that your now current QB played in...
Oregon should beat EWU but everyone will be happy when we can go back to reality and the ducks win 8 games a year and their fan BASE jumps back off the wagon...
Ripping? No -- merely pointing out that those games hardly constitute a reason to think this will be competitive. That EWU beat Oregon State and gave UW more than they wanted is a testament to relatively high level of talent on EWU, very good coaching, and the heroics of Vernon Adams. ...it just doesn't suggest that EWU can do the same to Oregon (a team so loaded on the offense that Bralon freakin' Addison is a second string receiver).
PDXAnas, Eastern has built a complete football program and it started long before Vernon stepped on campus. The last 4 years in a row we have played PAC 12 opponents with 3 different starting QB's. In 2011 we should have beat the UW with Bo Levi at QB (went to the last play and we were -3 in turnovers). In 2012 we should have beat WSU with Padron at QB (went to last play). in 2013 we beat OSU with Vernon at Qb and we hung 52 on UW last year when they had 3 1st round draft choices on D.
The Ducks will win and might win big, but if you have it in your mind that the last 2 years were all about Vernon you are mistaken. Don't get me wrong, I wish Vernon was back again this year because he was INCREDIBLE here at EWU but we have a complete program that is more then one player.
The Ducks better be ready to strap it up because our boys are coming to play!!
Did I not also mention coaching and talent?
And Adams played a big part.
This isn't your average FCS bodybag team, far from it -- I get that. But, come on, this isn't an average FBS squad.
With Oregon's speed on D, EWU has very little room for error in executing their pass game (don't see EWU having success on the ground). Whereas I think Oregon is going to be able to run the ball
very effectively.
The talent differential is substantial (to say the least), and I reckon in this one Adams will enjoy putting balls to the deepest group of receivers he's ever thrown to.
