Well you've got me, I'm only 68. Of course some think I'm older as I do remember getting electricity, went to a one room school with 9 students, remember getting indoor plumbing (yea we had a two holer) first phone "number" was three shorts and two longs on the old hand crank with a "party line"

GoDucks349,
I was born and raised in Saint Thomas Virgin Islands. I left the VI at age 19, to visit my Aunt in Florida, the Racial problems there drove me to join the US Air Force, in 1954. Here I am Retired after 20 yrs 23 days. What you said about your time in school, remind me of how hard is was to live. We did have some hard times, I continually explain to my children how hard is was living in those Islands. Don't get me wrong, I love the Islands, but times did get hard. We live off the land. I have 7 Children, ages, 6 in their 50s, my youngers just turn 39 August 31. 12 Grand Children, 5 Great Grant. I lost my beautiful Wife Aug 1999, after 45 years of marriage. Eastern Washington University Athletic Program, and the men and women in that program, became my children away from home. Really, they help myself and Daughter with our grieving process. Retired from EWU 20 years ago after serving the University for 21 years. Enough for my book. Vic Wallace

Sounds like you've got a great family. Losing close family and friends is tough, but as we get older, we get more of that life experience. Wish you well.

USAF SSgt 1966-70, approximately 4 yrs & 26 days (involuntary extension). Hahn AFB, w/TDY to Libya and Spain.

GoDucks349.
Yes, I do have a great family. I started out as Airborne Radio Operator, became an Air Police after trouble flying. Was very allergic to flying, to much damn air sickness.    Radio School Graduation, 9 of us graduated out of a class of 65 personnel. Had a lot of studying for "International Morse Code"ARC#7 Radio, assigned to Oslo, Norway. Was familiar that part of the world, since my home (Saint Thomas, VI) was purchased for $25 Million Bucks by Denmark in 1917. Many languages in the Islands, including Danish. The only one I speak is English, but not the best at times    . My late dad spoke 5 languages, he was like a history book to all of them, he spent two years here with us in Spokane 1980s. Time spent In Thule Greenland, (on top of the world, cold like hell) Goose Bay Labador, North Africa, French Morocco, Guam, Royal Air Force in England, Puerto Rico, and more. Enjoyed serving our Country, and thank you for your service. Not long the game will be on, we will give Oregon something to think over. May the better team win. Thanks to this blog, I have met some great Friends, of which you are included. Thanks for your friendship and sharing on the blog. Take care. Vic Wallace
