I'm going to get into huge trouble here but the Cheney faithful have to wake up. I know you are ready to build a statue to VA but seriously, BlackFalcon is right. We will never get to a championship game with VA at QB. Three huge mistakes in the game include the last halftime play where he didn't throw away the ball and tried to run, that ran out the clock. Next, the game winning throw to Cooper Kupp (overthrown) and last the terrible throw for an interception to Cory Mitchell with four defenders around him. The kid is a good but not great QB and will never get this team to the promised land. There are players on this team that are heartsick of mediocrity. Second place is not good enough.

I'm a little baffled that this is coming from a parent of a QB.

Don't be. There's a few that post these kind of things on here...we mostly ignore them.

Vernon Adams Jr., Quarterback, Sophomore – Walter Payton Award Runner-Up

The Sports Network Second Team All-America quarterback. He also received first team honors from Beyond Sports Network and second team accolades from College Sports Madness.

Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Year and one of two unanimous first team All-BSC selections (the other was teammate Cooper Kupp as both received first-team votes on all 12 ballots as selected by the league’s head coaches).

Leads the nation in pass efficiency at 185.7 and is on pace to set a Big Sky single-season record (currently fourth all-time in FCS history).

Big Sky and school-record 53 touchdown passes lead the nation and are third all-time in FCS.

Second in the nation with an average of 367.1 yards of total offense per game with a Big Sky and school
record total of 5,140 yards (third in FCS history).

One of four FCS QBs in history to engineer an upset of a top 25 FBS team. Amassed 411 passing yards and four TDs, 107 rush yards and 2 TDs in an upset of Oregon State.

28-42 for 390 and two td's 11 rushes for 65 yards
.

Yeah, time to ride the pine..................... :dunce: :dunce: :dunce: :dunce: :dunce: :dunce:

Dumbest and most football ignorant post I've read in perhaps ever. Congrats on looking like a complete idiot.

Speaking of no respect for QB's...can someone explain why Matt Nichols image isn't included on the fence surrounding the field? If you're going to only include just national award winners fine, but Kaufmann and VA are both up there.

I haven't checked for awhile but I'm pretty sure. Matt is still one of the greatest QB's statistically in the history of the BSC if not all of FCS.

He needs to be up there.

wineguy, wineguy, wineguy :ohno: ,
What is bringing out your digital courage? When BLM was starting his first game in Nevada and not having a good time of it we didn't hear from you. When Cory fumbles a kickoff or drops an easy pass we hear nothing, yet now when VA misses on a pass you say we will never see a natty with him at the helm.
I was at the Nevada game and heard Chris Ault speaking in the post game interview. He said the QB could not complete a pass beyond 20 yds so we just focused of the running back (Taiwan Jones). During the Central game that same year BLM was struggling, Jones bailed us, out yet fans were not calling for Bo's benching, we support the team. If you can think back to the development of younger players you will remember how they changed year to year. VA is a sophomore.
Don't get me wrong I don't feel anyone is above reproach and your opinion is valued but please be objective.

Wineguy

Well, no doubt you are going to get a lot of negative backlash from your thread. I don't really get where your coming from with VA, he's a proven QB in the FCS. Proven so by All American Honors and Walter Payton runner up award this year, broke all BLM records also, who was also an amazing QB for EWU and just a great person to know. You are certaintly entitled to your opinion on a open forum as this, but you even said you would get some backlash. I do think VA will get EWU to a NC in the next year or two, he's that good. Don't forget BLM had TJ #22 as a weapon which VA hasn't had YET, but he may next year, but we"ll see. I can see you are frustrated, but don't forget, VA wasn't on the field when Towson scored on their final 2 drives. It's not always the offense that wins championships!! Best luck to Cory next year, he is a STUD!!

In response to Wineguy’s post…

I appreciate this forum where folks are free to share their opinions. I'm a dad of a current player so please take my comments with that in mind.

Sometimes it gets kind of sticky when opinions are shared soon after a loss like we had Saturday. I haven’t been able to shake the loss yet, it hurts and it will hurt for a long time and I’m hoping Wineguy’s comments about Vern were made simply too soon after a frustrating loss. My hope Wineguy, is your frustration and subsequent comments about Vern over the TEAM loss got the best of you while forgetting to see the big picture.

To come out now and bash Vern over the loss and say he is not “the guy” is just ignorant in my opinion. Vern is a sophomore. Vern’s decision making, command of the offense and performance this year for a sophomore was incredible. Coming into the season I was prepared for major growing pains with Vern as he got comfortable being a full time starter for the Eagles this season. Not only did we not experience growing pains he came out and kicked ass all year long. Were Vern’s decisions perfect every time, no… but did he manage the TEAM well and run Beau’s offense effectively? Two pages of offensive team, league and national records should speak for itself. All as a sophomore. While Vern had the keys to the bus, he didn’t post all of those records on his own because this is a TEAM game and you don’t win or lose games with one individual.

If you asked Coop about that 4th down play he’ll tell you he should have come down with that ball…he can make that play but unfortunately for all of us he wasn’t able to make the play this time. Next time, next year he makes that play and Wineguy doesn’t have anything to talk about. To a man the defensive unit was crushed that Towson was able to drive the 71 yards to go up by 4 points with 17 seconds left. Give credit to Towson for pulling that off. This is a TEAM game and everyone shares in victory or defeat.

Encourage our guys Wineguy because we have a great thing going here at EWU. I'm sure you know that. Take a look at the big picture…we have young, talented guys who have had the opportunity to play a lot of football. This year did not end the way we all envisioned it ended, but don’t take that frustration and place it on one guy. That is not fair and it certainly is not productive. The future is very bright, let’s support these guys and allow them to be free to use their God given talents to the very best of their ability and see where that takes us as a TEAM in the future.

AMEN BROTHER- WELL SAID!

Great post, Mr Kupp, thanks for sending us Cooper, and don't let him take the blame any more than any other one player or coach. Just let it be motivation for next year.

Well said. It was a crushing loss for the fans, but even more so for those guys down on the field laying it on the line. The truth is when the guys go back and watch the film everyone of them could see plays were they missed a block, an assignment, a tackle, a throw, etc. This team accomplished great things and are a few plays away from grabbing the ultimate prize, but we all need to appreciate what was accomplished this year.

It is a team game, win or lose. I'm grateful that we have Veron for two more glorious years.

well said and couldn't agree more!!!

“Vernon did not let this team down,” said McCarthy, who led the Eagles with 13 total tackles. “This man is a heckuva football player. The things he is able to do in incredible situations where most people can’t – he makes plays.

“He did not fail this team,” McCarthy said.

Against Towson, Adams had the fifth-best passing performance in his career – and 12th with at least 300 yards – with 390 yards on 28-of-42 passing. He had a pair of touchdown passes, finishing with 55 in 2013 to rank second in FCS history behind the record of 56 shared by Willie Totten (Mississippi Valley in 1984) and Bruce Eugene (Grambling in 2005).

“It is never one play, this way or the other,” Baldwin said. “It is a collective effort, and we go back and find plays where we could have done things better.

“That is the way we look at it,” Baldwin added.

1. I would hardly call back to back trips to the semi's, an undefeated conference record, and a win over a Pac-12 school "mediocrity".
2. The other QB's that are currently on the roster as well as the one coming in as a Freshman next year(Hennessey) will have a chance to prove they are better than Adams. Until then, it's all purely conjecture. Beau knows QB's, the best one will play.

Concur with Ranger. Anyone who can point the finger at a 20 something player who is leaving it all out there on the field is seriously impaired and should stop smoking, toking, snorting, injecting or digesting those substances that lead to mental aberrations.
