Can't blame him for leaving. Gives him better shot at NFL.

I like his chances at Eastern :(

I think unless he believes that he has a very strong chance to start for the Ducks, he won't transfer. EWU will showcase his skills enough to get attention from the NFL. Garoppolo from EIU went in the 2nd round of the draft last year. I don't know how high VA goes if at EWU after a great year. But if goes to Oregon, and plays lights out, he could be a top pick. That's a tough opportunity to pass up.

It's one of those things that you've got to take a chance on, especially if you're as talented as VA is.

Are you trying to convince VA, us, or yourself?

Barring injury, it is a given Vernon will product some jaw dropping numbers at Eastern.
What would get more attention, outstanding numbers at FCS level, so so numbers at a Pac 12 school (if he starts and the quality of receivers are not what they are at Eastern), or sit on the bench numbers at a Pac 12 school if he does not start?

Sure, one more year to watch VA play would be great, but losing Vernon to Oregon will elevate our program's reputation and present an opportunity for the next great Eagle QB.

How so? Struggling to see how the key component to winning another national championship at our level transferring to play somewhere else "elevates our program".

I'm looking at it as if it was me. If I had that kind of opportunity, I'd take it if it improved my NFL chances - That is if the NFL is the goal of VA.

this whole situation is a shit sandwich that all eastern fans are just going to have to take a bite out of. not sure what else there is to do really. he's either going or he's not and if I had to bet money I'd double down on him being in eugene next year.

Since Oregon's coming off a NC game appearance, I think they're pretty solid at receiver. Considering the type of offense the Ducks run, his numbers could be just as jaw-dropping in Eugene.

Doesn't say much for the Oregon coaching staff. Desperation is a stinky cologne. Love VA, but not sure he could have held up physically with the O line issues Oregon had early last season and been around for the finish. Could be an immature coaching maneuver to try and motivate the players/QB's on hand to focus and work harder.... Pure speculation. Vaguely remember why I used to hate the Ducks.

I don't know enough about this new rule but I'm trying to rationalize how a school like Oregon can actively pursue a player who is still enrolled in school here. Can anyone shed any light on that? I understand the eligibility criteria, but how is it legit that they can just pluck a player away from us when he's still enrolled here? Seems fishy.

i think it is as simple as the Oregon coaching staff requesting permission to talk to him. After that, Baldwin would have had to grant him a release to transfer.

Kind of a shitty way to repay the coaching staff that recruited you out of High School and developed you as a player if you ask me. Still, good luck to him but to use a Vernon Adams quote "If they don't want me, I don't want them". Next man up!

Good question. Is VA driving a new rig with Nike license plates? :ohno:

The whole thing seems shady to me, but like I said I'm not familiar enough with this new rule. Just seems strange that they can openly and actively recruit a player while he's still enrolled here. Seems like these things are usually a little more hush-hush.

The other part of it that's a huge kick in the junk is that we have to play our first game in Eugene lining up against our own f*cking starting QB.
