vs. Cal Poly: Official GDT

Team left it all on the field. Great win for a myriad of reasons. Thought the defense was starting to step up a bit, multiple 3 and outs for the Eag offense made the defenses job tougher. Using the ESPN euphemism "eye test", Eastern looked like a good very much the superior team.

Still wondering if there was any reason this game was close?

Those who thought the game would be close, were right? Don't think it was for the reason most often stated, i.e. ball control by CP; more like lack of control by Eag offense. Anyone concerned?

It was a weird game. Zero turnovers, they dominate TOP and total yardage. They should have won. I'm a little concerned with offesnsive productivity and as concerned as ever with how we get dominated up front on D. If Raynes doesn't play, I'm not sure we win that game.

Still, Poly has a good D and they put up close to those yardage numbers on everyone.
In the 1st half it seemed we were getting pushed around on both sides of the ball. Every snap seemed like an automatic 3-5 yd gain, then something changed in the second and our defense took control.
What changed?

I honestly believe that MOTHER NATURE played a huge reason for the closeness of the game. 25MPH gust makes it very difficult to go down field.

Cal Poly board has a lot of people calling for a new coaching staff. I think they forget that they have a little bit of a disadvantage when recruiting because of grades to enter school and types of degrees they offer.

Our offense is entirely based on the ability to spread the defense out and attack vertically and I honestly think the 25-30 mph winds put us at a huge disadvantage in being able to do that. The safeties were able to play close to the LOS and limit the running game because after the first quarter they knew we weren't going to try to stretch the field much.

The offense has had two "down" games, but if I were a betting man I wouldn't wager on them having another one. Weather will not be a factor in the Kibbie Dome and I expect that this offense will explode next weekend.

I didn't get to see this game. I was in Oregon visiting my mother. I've just gone through reading this whole thread. Sounds like this was an amazing game. Eastern Washington showed the heart that it always has. If anyone has the ability to put a recording online, I would greatly appreciate it.

To All,
Typo on the score against Delaware, should have been 20-19, in 2010 Championship. I am supposed to be getting a CD of the game, have been sick since Saturday PM, with a bad cold, coughing, sore ribs and sore throat. Will remain inside for another a couple of days, and go check on the CD. If I was a brain like most of you, could have put it on our blog. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:. Didn't go to Coaches Show tonight, stayed home and listened to it on the Radio. There were a few tears after the game, heard Todd Raynes talk about his aunt passing from Breast Cancer 5 years ago, he said after the game his brother came to him and said their Aunt was there watching. Todd shed a few tears himself, it made my eyes a little teared up. Kendrick Bourne talked about how the team look at each game, and admitted he must stop causing the team yardage for celebrating. We fell from #7, to #8, don't know how they compute this. :o :o :o :o We learn something each day. Hope I can get out to see the team practice on Thursday, want to make sure this old bod get to feeling better. No TV on Saturday. Have a great day. Vic Wallace

clawman,
Do you know if the team is going Chartered Friday? Saturday was a very long day for us, we went from the football Game to the Women Volley Ball Game at 6 p.m, another great crowd. They defeated both Sac State 3-1 and Portland St last week, which put the team at 6-0, we are in 1st place in our bracket. They will be in Bozeman Thursday, and in Missoula on Saturday. Take care. I was told by "someone of authority" the only game they will bus to is Msla. That was on the Iowa trip as I recall but should still be the same info.

A lot of good feedback on this. I suppose winds could cause some issues, my struggle with that is it is always windy in Cheney, the team lives in it, practices in it and plays in it. West's arm is certainly strong enough to throw in it. No issues with wind in the Pocatello dome this week.

We seemed to throw it just as well if not better against the win as with it but the point about stretching the field and bringing their safeties up is a valid one.

This was a GREAT comeback. There's a lot of freedom in being completely screwed and it was obvious the team loosened up and met the challenge. No nail biters this week please!

Found out team will be leaving Campus Friday 4:30 a.m. They will be going Delta Commercial. Guess they might be going into Utah, then bus to Pocatello. I heard once before there are no airports in that area. :o :o :o. Missed two days of Practices already, here is hoping I can make it tomorrow. Still feeling kind of tired, and still coughing very hard. Soreness of Ribs is getting a little better. I've been drinking/pissing more than an Elephant ;) ;) ;) . Just have to take care of myself. Chris is also sick, she just wouldn't stay home from work, she has been working for DSHS 16 years Aug. 1st, 15. Take care! Vic Wallace

Delta Connections fly into both Pocatello and Idaho Falls (50 miles away) out of Salt Lake City. Charters can easily land at the Pocatello Airport, which is where all of our charters take off from.

Years ago my oldest son was at University Of Idaho, he was WR for Kenny Hobart, know as the (Kamikian Kid). (sp). We never made a trip to that part of Idaho, to long a drive. Thanks for the information of the flights to and from your area. You have helped me clear that info up, re: flights into Pocatello. Since it is Idaho State, "Homecoming Day" will wish you and the team Best of luck. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: Coach Kramer is a good man/Coach. We spoke a lot when he was here at EWU years ago. May the best team "WIN" Take care. Vic Wallace

Vic, you are correct. They landed in Salt Lake about 8am and are bussing it north. Will spend the night in Salt Lake and fly out Sunday morning. Hope you get feeling better.

loloman,
Thanks for the information. Went out to watch practice yesterday, couldn't get out of my truck, started feeling sick again. After letting Chris watch the Team practice for about 1 hour came home an jumped back in bed. Feeling a little better now, just drinking plenty of liquids. Glad we do not have a game this weekend, don't think I would have made it. Have a great weekend, and a Big Victory tomorrow. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace
