Who will draft Cooper Kupp?

Jerry Rice didn't run a 4.7. That is a common myth. Rice was in the 4.5 range. Although 40 times aren't everything, they are something. If Coop can't demonstrate break away speed at the event he has specifically been training for for months, then that will hurt his draft position.

Coops cone drill MIGHT rescue him. He did pretty well there.
On the NFL channel coverage of the combine a scout mentioned he would like to see the guys race, feeling some guys are faster against competition rather than a clock. Cooper may be in that class.

clawman,
I have been glued to the Combine, and seems as if Coop have disappeared from the Combine. I hope I am wrong. He ran way from everyone in the Big Sky this year, with the exception of YSU, I think, spoke to Coop Dad, he said on that one he had some shoulder pain, so he couldn't find the speed he wanted. Anyway hope he performs really good today to get some Scouts Eyes today. Last day today. Go Cooper!!!!! Vic E. Wallace

Hi Vic;
I watched the combine pretty intently too. Kudos to ESPN to make it interesting. Every time I saw Cooper he was doing something good. I heard there were something like 58 or 85 wide receivers, a lot. We already knew he would not be the biggest, fastest, or strongest but a great overall package with little or no character flaws. I hope he can get picked up in the second but there are a lot of outstanding athletes in all positions.

IMO...it just doesn't matter what Coop's 40-time, or any other measureable is. I understand that the measureables can help/hurt your draft stock, but the NFL teams that know how to sift through all that noise will only pay attention to what's important. Speed is only a part of what it takes to get open at the NFL level. All NFL corners can run, and most WR's aren't going to blow by NFL corners in a straight line race anyways. It's the guys that can turn db's around and get them to shift their hips due to precision rout running. It's also intelligence. Guys like Brady, Rogers, etc. demand that their guys be in the right place at the right time. Coop brings all that and I think the scouts will look past 40 times, etc. I see him getting drafted in the early to mid 2nd round but of course I could be wrong. I just don't see how he slips to the 3rd round. I heard Baldwin say a while back that Coop could have had 100 receptions as a rookie if he would have come out after his junior year. I trust BB's judgement. He did say that he would have had to be used the right way. Steve Smith's recent comments also carry a lot of weight IMO. Sometimes you just have to go with the Eye-Test. Kupp overwhelmingly passes it. Pulled this quote of NFL.com:

"Sources Tell Us "If he gets to a team with a good quarterback, watch out. In 2014, he punked both Marcus Peters and Sidney Jones when he took on Washington. Two first-round talents. You tell me if he's going to be a starter." -- South regional scout for AFC team"

I am hoping for something great for Cooper. He have worked very hard, and like you have stated, Teams knows how to go through steps. I jus keep seeing some of our former WR,s are still out there waiting. I don't know if many of you know Nathan Overbay, TE with the Eagles years ago, he has his business in Spokane, my son gets a lot of his Players that needs speed. He think Cooper will go in the 2nd round, I am hoping for great things for Cooper, Kendrick Bourne, Samson Ebucam, three outstanding Athletes.
On Campus yesterday, Pro Day Camp, I think is on March 28. We will have some of our Former Players there. Don't know if may of you saw our OC Coach. I saw where it will be Jase Boutarac, Assist to Coach Best last year. Good luck to all. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic E. Wallace

On the NFL draft shows they show the same clips of other FCS competition where Cooper is making a catch. There are numerous plays against PAc 12 schools that are not shown, why is that?

The Pac 12 has an embarrassment clause in their TV contracts, so those clips can not be replayed.

Coop was just interviewed on the drive time show on 710 ESPN in Seattle. The hosts all remarked how impressive he was to talk to. I'll post a link when I find one.

Thanks! I don't listen to the evening shows, typically only Brock & Salk if I'm up early enough, and John Clayton.

Amazing interview! So awesome to have someone of his caliber (intellectually, morally, and of course football talent) represent and have such pride and passion for EWU. Go Eags, and go Coop! :notworthy:

It was nice to see him at the scrimmage today.
And the very talented Bogdan Bliznyuk was in the stands enjoying the brisk spring air.

Doesn't shock me in the least they would have that clause. Why in the world would they want to show a lower division team beating up on one of their own. You always see them replay the UW EWU games because of the exciting finish and the UW win, but have you seen a replay of the OSU game since that week? As far as the PAC 12 is concerned ...NEVER HAPPENED! If he have the WSU game from this year listen to the announcers I believe they mentioned the OSU upset maybe once if that. Total Bias/HOMERS as well it should be being your own network.
