I'm going to maintain that Vern won't play on Saturday.

If he is only at 60 or 70 percent, then it's probably not a good idea for him to play. As big of a game as this is going to be, I'd rather see him sit out another couple of weeks and heal up. Jordan West is a capable backup QB and I think we can win this game even if VA has to sit it out.

I would think if UM wins two of their three games and end up 8-4 they get in...

I am sure this is exactly how they are approaching this game. This is playoff football for them. If they don't win, I'd have to think their season is in a very precarious position.

I don't know if that will have much effect on the game overall. This is one of those rivalries that seem to draw out the highest level of intensity from the players possible. Can it get any higher than it will already be?

Go Eagles! If we win this game as well, in my mind, we are in no matter what happens against PSU, who always seem to challenge us beyond their perceived abilities!

We need to win 1/2 of our remaining games to be a sure thing. At 9-3, we're a lock, and at 10-2 we're probably a seed. If we drop our final two games, we'll be out.

I have to say I'm a little surprised how many people think VA is sitting this one out. I say there is no way he sits out. Why would he practice if he wasn't going to play? I could see practicing one day, just to test things out, but all week? Not when we're going into a bye week next week...

If we can't win both of the remaining games we shouldn't be in the playoffs at all. I am confident we will win both and get a 2 or 3 seed.

I think we will be sitting in a 5 or 6 seed if we win out.
1. NDSU
2. UNH
3. Costal
4&5. Villanova and Richmond
6. Ewu

No one but NDSU has really tough games ahead and they should all win out
Ndsu may very well lose tomorrow again UNI, but they should stay #1 despite a loss. Undefeated costal carolina doesn't deserve #1 even with a NDSU loss.

As you noted, UNH, and Costal have not played any teams of consequence. And as soon as 'Nova came up against a team with a winning record they lost.
My opinion is the committee is conscious of regional play, and the Big Sky conference has a lot of credibility. I would think they will want a BS team seeded and a showdown of BS and MVFC would be a good story for the Championship game.

Indeed, and let's be honest: NDSU and EWU is the game everyone wants to see. Totally hypothetical, if the stars aligned, I could see us getting a #3 seed if we win out just for that reason. #2 is probably out of the question at this point unless some really crazy things happen the last 3 weeks.

Agree with Clawman, a 3 is not out of reach. Villanova or Richmond will not jump us if we win out. Jacksonville State has a shot at a top 4 seed too, but they have a tough one this weekend and I believe only play 11 games this year, which will hurt them.

We need UNH or Coastal to lose one and I think we jump into the 2 or 3 seed. Neither has a tough game left, but I think Coastal drops one this weekend. We may jump coastal anyways because they play in a historically weak conference and haven't played anyone this year...

Keep in mind, strength of schedule (quality wins & losses) factor in heavily here.

EWU wins out and I see #3 seed. In that scenario EWUs only loss is on the road with their backup QB.

Need NAU to keep winning to make that a quality loss.

Coastal will be playing Liberty at the end of the year, LU has been hot this year, will be a close game.

Do you think our loss to NAU is bad if they lose to ND in Grand Forks? I don't because that gives us the auto bid for the Big Sky. Maybe I am putting too much into it but I have to think the committee would like a Big Sky team seeded.
Is there such a thing as a good lose to FBS school. I think our lose to the Huskies is pretty respectable.

To get back to the original thread subject. If Vernon plays he may in fact be better than he was before. Better your say, how could that be?
IMO he would try to do too much sometimes and either get sacked or force a ball into a bad situation. Now he may possible tend to get rid of it in 2-3 seconds and be safer.
