2014-2015 Basketball Schedule

11 total OOC games. 9 DI's and two beats. Pretty much what we all figured too. No surprises. I do like seeing USU the first weekend. Gives the Cats a bit more of a chance to pull off an upset in Lolgan.

I can't find any enrollment information on Bristol University. It is a small business school in Anaheim CA. It was founded in 2011. They appear to be a version of Steven Hennigars with a basketball team.

Cat's don't have to visit the Nest or Stott next year (there goes their two biggest games of the season), but the No Names and the Cubbies don't get the privilege of having a return visit to the Dee either.

thoughts about only playing unco and no dak once on the road?

UND...I don't really mind. The Cats have had success, so far, playing the former Sioux in Grand Forks. Playing only in Greeley is kinda a bummer, since the Cubbies usually give the Cats a pretty good game, but it is what it is. I think the Cats can beat the Cubbies next year in Greeley, but we will have to see. I think the Cubbies will be pretty good again next year.

To me I think that is the biggest thing that stands out. The hornets may be the second best team in the league and we only play them at home. I don't think UND will be very good. The cubbies will be middle of the road.

Agreed...overall Sac and PSU are going to be better teams than UND and UNCO. I do worry a bit about the Cubbies though.

The way I count it, we could have had three more OOC games on our schedule. I know it is hard to get quality teams to play us home and home. I would be happy with three more of anything. I would take another tough road game and two more patsies at home. I'm just not seeing the virtue of not filling the schedule up. Look what happened last year when the UTA game got dropped. If you can't get quality H/Hs, bring in Westminster and Dixie, go play Duke, just fill it up. :coffee:

The timing does look a little better than last year, but I agree that we should have another game or two in December.

November = 7 games
December = 6 games
January = 10 games
February = 6 games
March = 2 games + tournament

Do you think the reason we are playing at Oklahoma instead of a Pac12 school is because of the number of Texas kids on our roster that will get to play another game a few hours from home?

At first I was hoping Bristol University might be a bunch of ESPN analysts. :)
Have you seen their roster? No one over 6' 5"
I do wonder what the team gets out of a game like this ...

:rofl:
A starting line up of Andy Katz, Dicky V, Jay Bilas, Brad Nessler & Reece Davis
With Bob Knight, Hubert Davis & Jimmy Dykes coming off the bench.

That game is just a 'feel good' game for all the guys who are about to get very little PT in league games. If any starters have any kind of an owee, they will sit this one out. It is probably during finals week, when practice time might be limited. This game happens every year at the same time. I've come to expect it. :roll:

I was a little disappointed with how many weak schools we have. I know we have a lot of new guys that need to learn and work their way into the system but the game against Bristol is a bit of a head scratcher. If they really have no one above 6' 5" how does that help us? I would have liked to see a little bit tougher competition. But that being said we can see some good teams in the virgin islands and OK and oral are good games as well. Next year is the year to look for a good tough schedule. But all in all lets win them all this year!

Also I noticed on the weber state athletics facebook page Steve Johnson commented that Dixie State > St. Katherine's/Western State/Presentation College/Bristol. He is the public relations director at Dixie. Wonder why we didnt have them on the schedule?

I guess having the Big Sky headquarters in Ogden does count for something. 2 of the top teams only get one game against Weber at altitude. You have to admit that looks more than coincidental. Can't wait to see what Fullerton did with Montana's schedule.
