2015 Recruiting - 18 Verbals - Updated 2/3

I believe it would be safe to put Ketner Kupp in the Eastern Verbal column. Ask his brother.

Awesome news if true! I met him at the first game vs the Griz and he is a great kid. I really enjoyed his highlight. One of a handful of players coming in that may contribute early! I see Ketner playing defense. He is a special player at Linebacker, and while I think he is fine in space, I see him as a huge asset against the run. Plays and reads fast! He isn't wrong much and always seems to find the ball. A good replacement for #39.

allweatherfan2,
Last night at Coach Hayford Radio show @ Swinging Doors, heard that Ketner Kupp cold be on Defense. If he is as good as is Older Brother, he will be a "STUDD". Saw Cooper Kupp at the Men Basketball Game Saturday. He looked different with his new hair cut. FYI also heard the "Football Banquet" will be on Jan 24th, 15, @ 5 p.m. We have a Men Basketball that day at 2 p. m., then to the FB Banquet in Pence Union Building. Can't wait. Hope to see many of our Eagle Fans there. Vic Wallace

We have a new verbal. As per his twitter, Nathan Jacobson, a 6'6 270 lbs tackle from Snohomish has given a verbal to play at EWU next year.

Whoa whoa, you can't demand rigorous sources from us, then tell us to just go on your word.

I fixed that post with the actual twitter feed. Nice to see us get a couple of early verbals from O-Lineman. McGuire and Jacobson could be our next Debord/Curtis.

I like the Jacobson comparison to Debord, but McGuire will remind us of Neary rather than Curtis. He is extremely quick and athletic, a banger on blocks that explodes from his stance like Neary. Jacobson is more the tall oak tree with great extension. Both players will need to improve their strength, but could play early.

It looks like our early commits really have some speed and that is great to see. Love the highlights so far, let's see what happens on signing day. It always seems like there's a couple of surprised.
Between this years recruiting class and last years, plus some of the other player movement, expect to see a 3-4 / 5-2 odd scheme next year on D

Jbillen,
Are you Curtis Dad, Grand Dad, Uncle, Brother? He is #51 for the Eagles, supposed to be LS. Spoke to him many of times. We taught he had some problems with hernia. I think he did mention every thing was ok last year. Enjoyed talking to him and all our Eagle Players. Hoping to meet you sometime this year. Vic Wallace

This may have been posted but I was just dabbling around on ESPN recruiting and while looking at another recruit I stumbled on that Savion Simms has recorded the fastest 40 time (4.4 flat) out of any CB that ESPN recorded at their hundreds of camps. That's thousands of kids. With that speed, there's no need to mention the elephant in the room about his size. He looks like he can be a pretty good weapon for EWU.

A football weights 12 oz. Even at #149 I am sure he can handle the weight.

Per Jordan Johnson at NEI Sam Inos and Tysen Prunty from Tigard have committed to EWU. Tysen's twitter doesn't say he has committed.

Signing day can't get here soon enough. Recruiting is pretty much the only thing to get excited about this time of the year. :?
I think our basketball team is something Eagle fans can be excited about. Tyler Harvey is pretty special. You should take the time to go watch them play sometime between now & signing day.

Sorry, I wasn't meaning to imply that there's nothing going on at all this time of the year for athletics. I was talking more in terms of football and recruiting day really being the only exciting thing to look forward to from that perspective. Men's and women's basketball are absolutely doing great. I've watched quite a few of the men's games this year and a couple of the women's. As my name implies, it's difficult for me to actually see a game in person.

No worries. I was just being a smart-aleck. Basketball games are tough to get to. Especially mid-week games. I have to drive from Deer Park. We went to Weber State, but I hpoe to make a couple more. If we host conference tourney, will definitely be there for that. Last time EWU hosted was a blast.

This appears to be good news...

So, 10 and counting. I think there's a few other verbals at this point but can't really confirm unless they post it on twitter or someone else reports it. I'm really loving the verbals on the O-Line. That group should form a really solid base over the next few years.

Here's another potential commit. WR Jayson Williams out of Tacoma. Says on his twitter that he hasn't given a verbal yet, so we'll see what happens. Also has offers from Montana and a few others. Hopefully coach Edwards can seal the deal.
