Remember the day when we were pumped to get a couple of "star" players...it is raining 3-star's now. I think that has a lot to do with the stability of our head coach and the culture he has built!

yup, ten years ago we probably wouldn't get half of these guys.

It must also be noted that stars are given out much more liberally these days. Washington used to have 20-25 "rated" players, 247 shows 56 star rated players this year. Perhaps Washington's recruits have improved, and I'm sure they have, but not so much that it more than doubles the number of rated players.

They may be more liberal but kids coming out of high school are bigger, faster, stronger too. There is not more college football programs or more players on each roster yet there are more high schools and better athletes coming out of high schools.

Perhaps, but I think there's also more talent out there than 10-15 years ago. We are seeing that in terms of results on the field. We aren't getting physically dominated when we play P5 teams like we were back then. Perhaps the sample size is small, but I think the point still stands. Coaching and player development is obviously a factor as well, but I think we are seeing more physicality across the board than in the past. This is especially true when you're talking about G5 teams...we are basically recruiting from the same pool and there's so much talent out there these days that the disparity just isn't there like it was back in the day. The bigger factor is depth.

Also, Washington was a highly under-rated state for HS football for quite a long time and you're now starting to see more recognition in terms of the level of competitiveness in the state.

247 sports updated their recruiting rankings, and for now, from what it seems, we have the highest rated recruiting class in the FCS, and higher than quite a few FBS schools.

Anthony Pasesa Leiato moves that needle even a touch further. 75.26. I don't know how many schollies we have left to hand out, but the quality of this class is impressive. No way around it, Eags are getting some dudes in this class and I cant wait to watch them fly around on the inferno.

I'd definitely put this as a verbal. Another great job by the coaches.

If I read correctly, Scout has this kid as a three star recruit. You need to be one good damn kicker to get three stars.
