Another Beau Baldwin scare

Wolf Pack fan here. I've been a fan of EWU ever since Taiwan ran through and past our defense in 2010 at Mackey Stadium. You really have something great going on there!

We've been through the coaching rumors over the years too - we had two straight bball coaches cherry picked by the PAC-12 and SEC. Replacing is never easy. The thing I keep telling myself is it's out of our hands. Through it all, I wanted to say how classy your board and fans have been through this. Regardless if CBB comes to Nevada or not, I'll continue to follow EWU. If he does come to a Nevada, I would hope he stays through your championship run! Good luck the remainder of your season - ours has been done for a bit now.

What about Timm Rosenbach? Former EWU OC under Wulf and has a good track record of developing QB's.

Care to elaborate or are you just going to keep posting Trump memes?

Trump memes, but Rosey isn't the answer.

Absolutely no Rosenbach. No, no, no. Kramer all day before Rosenbach.

I hate that this kind of stuff has to happen when the season is still going...but it doesn't surprise me. It's partially because he can position teams to still be playing after the regular season that he garners so much interest. And we all knew we were living on borrowed time having Baldwin be at EWU.

In regards to him moving up, congrats to him, he's earned it. The success he's had at this level should provide him the opportunity for upward mobility. And if he does well at Nevada, or whatever FBS school he ultimately gets hired by, he will move up from there as well.

My greatest concern is that he get to finish the season with EWU. I think he absolutely has the maturity and focus to do his job through the end. And after all he's done this season, and all the players have done this season for themselves, and for their coaches, it seems like a travesty that they would not be able to go as far as this season will take them together.

But from what I've seen, Nevada wants to get this hire done by Friday so their new coach can get started on rebuilding their program. To me, that sounds like there mentality is more akin to, "It's time to move up from the minor leagues son, your team is on their own, and no longer your concern." Of anything, I hope that is not the case.

If it is, which I think is a very real possibility, I think they will elevate one of the coaches to the position of interim head coach. They will probably start interviews, and likely consider that interim head coach in the mix. I don't know how it works with a new head coach hiring assistant coaches. Hopefully, the assistant coaches could all stay the course through the NC if we make it that far, especially if BB knows who he wants to take with him, which will without a doubt be some of the existing coaches.

I don't know for sure, but I have heard that if a head coach leaves, the players can transfer without losing eligibility. Does anyone know if that is a fact?

Baldwin has said publicly that he'll stay through the end of the season, whenever that will be. And no, players cannot transfer because there is a coaching change. The only way an Eastern player could transfer without losing a year of eligibility would be as a graduate transfer or a move down to D2 or below.

That's good to hear...on both counts!

Q13 News just did a brief blurb about Coach B being a candidate. One of the few times we've made the news on this side. Thanks for all the great coverage on our program, Seattle media...

I'd be mildly surprised if Baldwin wouldn't take Taylor with him and equally surprised if he would end up a candidate for HC at EWU. Prior to this year, he'd only been a position coach at the college level in his mid 20's and that was around two decades ago. There's a bunch more to being an HC than x's and o's. There's logistical stuff to consider, promotions, and of course there's the donor relations and recruiting. He does have a brief stint as a H.S. A.D. so that would help, I'm just guessing he might need more time getting caught up to speed on the extremely important off field stuff at the collegiate level.

Could be wrong though.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Best or Graham in the running. Both high character dudes with strong ties to the State and would provide excellent continuity for what Baldwin's accomplished.

Jimmy Lake would be intriguing as well. Another high character guy, from Spokane, with a ton of experience at every level including the Big Sky.

I wouldn't mind seeing Kramer back either.

To All,
Maybe I did misquote the article in the Review. I didn't think we had any money put side for the GWP. It has become frustrating for as long as we all have been waiting for something to be done, and we are all still waiting. The Team did practice yesterday, and they didn't look like any of the news affect their playing. I did go to North 40 on East Trent and purchased some Winter Clothing for myself and my daughter. I am trying to freeze this weekend. It is going to be a "Cold One" Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace

clawman,,
We knew in advance there wasn't going to be a Coaches Show on Monday. There will not be one this Monday. I try tp put all this crap behind me, and hope for the best. I just hope the Big Wigs start giving us the correct information, and quit playing with our minds. Get ready for some snow on Thursday, talking about 4-7 inches in the valley areas. Must get the Snow Blower ready. Vic Wallace

EWU football got a lot of tangibles accomplished during Baldwin's reign, however they did not get the east side expanded/built, that's going to hinder EWU FB and the new coach. It's my opinion that EWU FB would NOT have the 2010 title, or the WPA winners without Baldwin. Having said that, again IMO, EWU will fall into a slump without an *excellent* head coach. Kramer, Aaron Best, and others named in the thread are good people but can't fill Baldwin's shoes.
How fxcking selfish of Nevada to leak this information during Easten's playoff run! Finally, I wish Beau Baldwin the very best of luck! He is a great man, coach & role model.

I think this is a done deal and Beau will be moving on to Nevada. Very well deserved IMO. Hard to pass up 700k as well. He really made EWU a national contender. I do, however, think he will stay and coach the current squad to the end, a la Craig Bohl style for the Bison.

That worked out just fine for all of them as they won their third title. Plus he's a players' coach, and they seem to love him and will want to send him out in style. The kids are there to win a national championship and will give it their all is well, with or without him. But I'd be he's with them on the sidelines.

Jimmy Lake makes over 500k at Washington, why would he come here?

Jesus! Really? Of course the cost of living there is a little more too but if that's the case we need to start budgeting more for coaching salaries and that means you can probably kiss a Junior Adams and Zack Hill goodbye.

The only way we're going to attract an FBS position coach (much less coordinator) from now on is if there's 1) an immediate desire and/or need to get head coaching experience, 2) a family connection to the area, or 3) a desire for the stability that the Spokane area and the job would present.

Otherwise, we're hiring within or going the DII route.

Can't we just up CBB's salary to 500K right now and keep him a while longer?

(If that would even be enough)

They are already gone, making 200k and 215k respectively @ Boise St

I knew they were gone, Claw. I meant gone are the chances of getting a former assistant like that back to coach. Then again, their salaries surprise me as much as how high Lakes' is.

Maybe we could have a shot at one of them.

I just would like someone who will be staying more then a few years ...not make this a revolving door coaching position. So yes the salary needs to be increased for all head coach and assistants.
